Chapter 786: Chapter 791: Easy Money

In a straightforward and frank exchange, Yang Yi and Jethro quickly reached an agreement.

Regardless of whether they could fulfill it or not, first, they had to reach an understanding; under Yang Yi’s influence – no, it was under Yang Yi’s persuasion – Jethro had stepped onto the thief’s ship.

With the agreement in place, things became much easier. Now, it wasn’t Yang Yi who was anxious, but Jethro.

"What should we do now?"

"First, you need to tell me Deyo’s phone number. Can you find his number?"

Jethro actually hesitated over whether or not to tell Yang Yi the number.

Yang Yi wasn’t in a hurry; he just looked at Jethro, who, after gritting his teeth, said, "It’s Deyo who wants to kill me!"

"Yes, obviously."

"Then I’m not betraying him by doing this!"

"Of course, you’re just trying to protect yourself."

Seemingly comforted, Jethro no longer hesitated and said gravely, "There is a number that Deyo has never changed. He doesn’t use it often, but he is sure to do so."

"Tell me."

Jethro shared the number, and Yang Yi memorized it.

With the phone number in hand, many problems could be solved easily. Fortresses often collapse from the inside; the moment Jethro decided to work with Yang Yi, Deyo’s secrets were no longer safe.

Yang Yi stood up, then said to Jethro in a deep voice, "When will Nicholas arrive?"

"I don’t know, but it shouldn’t be too late. He might have already arrived."

"You said the Americans would support Nicholas. How would they support him?"

"L."

"L?"

"Yes, Deyo sending Nicholas is a reluctant choice, but it’s also a result strongly requested by L. Due to pressure from the United States, Deyo had no choice but to send Nicholas to Ukraine and thus give up his own position. It’s a very likely scenario."

"Who told you these things?"

Jethro unhesitatingly said, "Antonio, he’s one of Deyo’s men. Unlike Big Ivan, we don’t assign people by region; Antonio is just in charge of the goods, like a secondary distributor."

"But you said Nicholas is in charge of the Americas?"

"Yes, Nicholas is an exception. Deyo can no longer control him, which is why he alone benefits from the Americas."

Yang Yi exhaled and said, "If you were to compete with Nicholas for the top spot, would Anthony help you?"

After some thought, Jethro nodded and replied, "He would, because Nicholas is Anthony’s biggest rival, and they have a feud. But Anthony isn’t helping me; he just wants to get rid of Nicholas. After Nicholas is dead, he would become one of my competitors."

Yang Yi, showing interest, asked, "How much are Deyo’s assets, and how much could we get?"

Jethro pondered before replying, "Deyo has assets worth at least several tens of billions of dollars, I think around fifty billion dollars. He is a hidden tycoon; there’s no doubt about that. As for how much we can get, that’s hard to say. Many of Deyo’s assets have been laundered, and the equity distribution is highly complicated. It’s difficult to say how much we could seize in terms of cash, real estate, and savings. I only have a rough idea."

"So what could we get?"

"The arms market, about one billion dollars a year in market size."

"Is that all?"

"That’s all I know of. If we could take over the entire market, the annual trading volume would be uncertain, fluctuating between two billion and ten billion dollars."

"How much could we earn?"

"Seventy percent pure profit, potentially more, but no less; even including various hidden costs, at least sixty percent pure profit."

Yang Yi inhaled sharply, remarking, "That’s quite a profit!"

"Of course, who would sell arms otherwise?"

Yang Yi quickly did the math; even if they only earned one billion dollars a year, pfft, one billion a year was not a mere ’only’.

"So how much could Big Ivan earn?"

Jethro made a troubled expression and said, "It’s hard to tell. Big Ivan’s arms trade occupies more than half of the market, but he mainly sells cheap goods. The profits are small, but the volume is large. It’s difficult to assess how much money he makes, but he must have at least several billion dollars in pure profit annually; otherwise, he couldn’t support such a large operation."

"With such a large cash flow, how is the money managed in the end?"

"Laundering, and then investing in various industries. Deyo’s wealth is at least several tens of billions, while Big Ivan’s worth must be over a hundred billion dollars, though this includes fixed assets. But he could at least put into play over ten billion dollars in cash flow."

After thinking for a moment, Yang Yi said, "Let’s talk about Nicholas. Will Nicholas come to Ukraine in person?"

"If he wants to replace Deyo, then he definitely will."

"How do you think Nicholas will arrive? Is there a chance he’ll take a commercial flight to Kyiv?"

"Certainly possible."

Yang Yi said, seemingly lost in thought, "If we could set an ambush around the airport, waiting for Nicholas to arrive and then kill him right away, that would be very convenient."

"But Nicholas could charter a flight to Kyiv and land at a military airfield. Don’t forget, L will support him, and landing at a military airfield in Ukraine would be a non-issue. Oh, Nicholas also has his own private plane."

"A big plane or a small one?"

"A small one that can carry around twenty people, not big."

Yang Yi thought for a while, then asked, "Tell me about L. Do you know her background?"

Jethro smiled bitterly and shook his head, "She won’t even tell us her name; how would I know her background? In fact, even Deyo doesn’t know. All we understand is that she is sent by the United States, nothing more."

"So who have you kept in contact with until now? CIA?"

"Yes, Deyo has a very close relationship with the CIA, but those are Deyo’s secrets, and I cannot be certain about whom he communicated with."

Lack of intelligence still made it impossible to make a clear judgment.

Next, they would need to acquire intelligence before deciding exactly what to do, and it was certain that Jethro could no longer provide any more precise information.

After pondering for a while, Yang Yi said to Jethro, "Before Deyo dies, we probably won’t make any big moves. As soon as Deyo is dead, we’ll take action immediately. It won’t be a short-term process, but you’d better figure out who can be persuaded and who must be eliminated. Once Deyo dies, we can make our move."

Jethro said gravely, "That’s obviously necessary, but how do we deal with Nicholas? He won’t be easy to handle."

Yang Yi smiled and said, "That’s not something you need to worry about. We’re confident we can take care of him."

Jethro exhaled and said, "Alright, then I will wait and see."
