Chapter 758: 763 - The Explosive Egg Gong Yang
When desperation struck, a kind-hearted person gave Brian hope again, and this time, the hope seemed substantial. But at this moment, Brian found himself afraid to make the call.
Understanding Brian’s feelings, Yang Yi knew that Brian would eventually make the call.
The fear to call stemmed from the dread of hope being shattered once more, but fear was only temporary, so Brian ultimately made the call.
Just then, the sniper said in a very gentle tone, "Go ahead, I’m not deceiving you this time, you don’t have to worry about the feeling of a beautiful dream shattering once again. Make the call!"
Yang Yi watched from behind, and then he saw the young man place an opened umbrella over Brian’s head to shield him from the rain, which he found quite heartwarming.
Brian gasped for breath as he dialed the number, but soon after, he said with a trembling voice, "No response, why is there no response?"
"No response? What do you mean? No one is picking up? Impossible."
The sniper sounded very surprised. Yang Yi’s heart, hanging in suspense, suddenly dropped and shattered. Had Brian been played for a fool once again?
At that moment, Yang Yi heard Brian mutter to himself, "It didn’t go through, that’s great, it just didn’t go through."
Brian dialed the number again, and after a very brief moment, Yang Yi heard him say loudly, "It’s me, Kate, it’s me!"
As he spoke, Brian sat down right in the rain.
"Brian..."
Yang Yi could hear the voice coming from the phone, faint but clearly pleasant, the voice of a woman.
Brian was on the verge of tears and said softly, "It’s me... Are you okay?"
Just then, Yang Yi heard the sniper say, "Leave the umbrella with him, we’re leaving."
The woman’s voice came through the phone again.
"You... "
The phone only transmitted a single sound, and then the voice abruptly cut off. At that moment, Brian yelled at the sniper who was about to close the car door, "No, you can’t go, please wait, please wait for a moment, there’s a gun aimed at us, please wait a moment."
Paul must have been aiming at the sniper, and at this time, Brian did not want any accidents to occur.
But the unexpected inevitably happened, as Yang Yi heard a voice come through the phone yet again, but the voice had changed to that of a man.
"Hi, Brian, sorry it’s me again, Yarebin."
Yang Yi was stunned, wondering how Yarebin’s voice could emerge at this time, like an unwelcome ghost.
Brian must have been equally shocked, but at that moment, Yarebin spoke in an unhurried manner on the phone, "Act a little more composed, as if you’re listening to a call from Annastasia. If you don’t do as I say, I’ll give you a lesson you’ll never forget. If you do as I say, I will let you finish this call."
Brian stood still, phone in hand, then Yarebin continued on the call, "I can disrupt your conversation, and I can restore it as well. And since I can disrupt it, you know what that means, right?"
Brian sighed softly, and then spoke in a very gentle voice, "You tell me."
Walking back with the phone, Brian approached and Yang Yi went up to meet him.
When Yang Yi reached Brian’s side, he shook his head at him.
Brian had been completely manipulated, and he no longer had the ability to make the right judgment.
Brian had a look of utter despair on his face as he looked at Yang Yi and then slowly shook his head.
Just at that moment, Yarebin chuckled on the phone, "You haven’t said a word until now. I told you to act normal so as not to let my student catch on to anything unusual. He is a do-gooder. He genuinely wants to help you. I think, at the very least, we should fulfill his wish. So you better play along, or I will get angry."
An expression of extreme joy appeared on Brian’s face, and then he exclaimed loudly, "I’m fine, yes, over these years..."
Brian turned around and left. Just then, when Yang Yi was thinking about following Brian to walk a bit further away, he saw the car door open slightly, and then the person with the divine shooting skills said to him, "Hey you, come here a sec."
Yang Yi was taken aback for a moment, but he still walked up to the car door and whispered to the person sitting in the back of the car, "What’s up?"
The car door was open, so the light inside the car was on. Yang Yi could clearly see the person sitting inside.
To Yang Yi’s surprise, the gun expert turned out to be an Asian.
During their encounter earlier that day, the gun expert had disguised himself heavily, obscuring all of his features completely. Now, although it was still the same person, he had only applied light disguise, making facial features impossible to discern, yet revealing that he was Asian.
Yang Yi had also only applied a light disguise because a heavy disguise was truly uncomfortable.
Yang Yi was looking at the person in the car, and the person in the car was also looking at Yang Yi.
After the two of them looked at each other for a moment, the gun expert smiled and said, "It’s been decades since people have seen each other, and the one time we can make a phone call, you should stay away from the excitement."
Yang Yi had no response. Just then, the gun expert leaned back and patted the spot he just vacated.
"The rain is heavy, come on in."
Without much hesitation, Yang Yi got into the car.
After closing the door, Yang Yi said to the gun expert sitting with him, "Sorry for getting your car wet."
"It’s okay, I’ll be ditching it soon anyway."
After a carefree laugh, the gun expert said casually to Yang Yi, "We’ve met before. The situation was quite scary back then. It’s one thing to surround us, but using directional mines to do so was really frightening. So, you guys did well."
Yang Yi made a basic judgment about the person in front of him. First, this person was very young; it could be heard in his voice. He was definitely Asian; this could be seen from the skin behind his ears and on his wrists. But these were all secondary. What mattered was that despite his youth, he had an air of composure, that distinct aura found among important figures.
And, he was extremely confident, exceptionally so.
Yang Yi replied indifferently, "Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
"Right, it is a compliment. You have indeed left a deep impression on me, especially you. Where are you from?" the gun expert continued in English, but suddenly blurted out in Chinese. Yang Yi, although extremely surprised, still responded in Chinese, "Take a guess."
The gun expert looked equally astonished but quickly started laughing, patted Yang Yi on his damp shoulder twice, and instead of guessing where Yang Yi was from, he just smiled and asked in Chinese, "How should I address you?"
He switched back to English.
A simple question, yet Yang Yi didn’t know how to answer. Calling himself Sea God would reveal his ties to the Organization of Water, and claiming to be Robot would expose him to Trident. Under the current circumstances, he felt it was better to be cautious, but giving a random fake nickname didn’t seem right either.
After a moment’s thought, Yang Yi smiled and said, "My friends call me Little Egg."
The person sitting opposite Yang Yi seemed a bit taken aback, and after a moment, he began to laugh, looking somewhat apologetic as he said, "No offense, but I go by Exploding Ram."
