Chapter 745: Chapter 751: Excitement

The fight had ended, and Yarebin and Brian stood together again, with Brian staring intently at Yarebin as he demanded in a deep voice, "Can you talk now?"

Yarebin smiled, "Yes, I can, but let my men leave and I’ll explain everything slowly."

Brian shook his head and said, "No, get all of your men to come over here; nobody is leaving right now."

Negotiations were about to start again. Now that the fight was over, the Organization of Water and Black Devil became enemies once more. Brian’s approach was to gather people from both sides together. If a fire-fight were to break out, then nobody would be able to leave,

Yarebin laughed, and with a smile, he suggested, "But I don’t plan on that. Isn’t it enough for just the two of us to talk about this matter?"

Brian, without hesitation, replied, "I don’t trust any of you. Either we all stay together and die together, or you order them to leave and we can fight it out right now. We are close enough to die together!"

In Brian’s hand was a detonator, controlling a bomb strapped to his own body, while Yarebin also held a remote control, with a case full of explosives being held by a person right beside him.

Yarebin was fearless and with a gesture, he commanded, "Come over here, gather around me."

Brian, too, looked toward Yang Yi and said in a serious tone, "You guys, come over as well, come over to hear a story."

This was a balance of terror; if death was on the line, it would befall everyone equally, and no one could escape, including that master marksman. Thinking of this, Yang Yi suddenly felt a sense of advantageous opportunity, so he immediately stood behind Brian.

Yang Yi stood behind Brian, while Anton positioned himself by Brian’s side, then he stared intently at Yarebin.

Yarebin also gave Anton a careful look as if he found him very interesting.

It was at this moment that Brian spoke in a low voice, "Speak up, I’m in a hurry. I’ve never hidden this fact."

Waiting decades for this, Yang Yizhen was genuinely happy for Brian, but he also couldn’t help feeling that things wouldn’t go smoothly.

"Antoine is dead."

Brian seemed very angry as he exclaimed loudly, "You’ve said that already? Although I very much wanted him dead, Antoine isn’t what I’m concerned with. You’ve said you know what I want, now tell me."

Yarebin replied calmly, "But I must explain in detail; I was involved in the entire plan, I was the one giving the orders. Trust me, you should want to know what happened."

Brian appeared agitated, but he still gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, I’m listening; explain it slowly to me. I’ve waited for decades; a few more moments won’t matter."

"Antoine promised to give you two million US Dollars."

"Yes, two million US Dollars in 1987!"

"But he broke his promise."

"Yes, he turned around and sold me out, thus I became a traitor. Though I indeed was a traitor, I was captured and convicted of treason. I was supposed to be in the electric chair, but they spared me, and then I spent 20 years in prison."

Yarebin laughed heartily. "I’ve heard that prisons in the United States have pretty good food, much better than our Soviet prisons."

Brian was infuriated and said through gritted teeth, "Yeah, the food’s alright, not too bad for a traitor like myself. Started off eating like a pig, then it got to where I was eating like a dog! Now cut to the chase, you damned old man."

Yarebin shrugged his shoulders and smiled, "I arranged everything, I mean withholding the money promised to you, and then turning around and betraying you to the CIA, all that was my doing. I had someone call the CIA directly, sent them the evidence of your defection to John Donnason, your chief at the time, I did it all."

Yang Yi was listening on the side, seething with anger.

Although he knew that not a single word from Black Devil could be trusted, seeing Yarebin’s expression, especially his smug look, Yang Yi believed that Yarebin was telling the truth.

Yarebin seemed like a kind old man, but he was a bit too arrogant. Yang Yizhen really wanted to shoot him in the head.

Yarebin deliberately admitted to everything; he was provoking Brian, and of course, by extension, the entire Organization of Water.

But what could they do? Nothing, because Yarebin held everything Brian desired.

Brian’s complexion changed, turned especially ugly, and he said in a low voice, "It was you."

"That’s right, it was me."

Yarebin seemed very relaxed. He sighed, saying leisurely, "How should I put it, you were the chief of operations in the Middle East, but not the chief of intelligence. If you had been the chief of intelligence, I would never have given you up just to save two million dollars. In 1987, that was a considerable sum, but what can I say, you were just a team leader. At that time, our operational funds were very tight."

Yarebin was not done humiliating Brian, he stated earnestly, "You have to understand, whether it’s in the CIA or the KGB, intelligence is always more important than operations."

Brian stared intensely at Yarebin and said, "So, the day you got the intelligence, you betrayed me!"

Yarebin smiled and said, "As per the deal, we were supposed to pay upon verifying the intelligence the same day. But I didn’t have two million dollars at that time, so I had a mole inside your ranks betray you. He got a promotion and a raise, we saved a lot of money, and you took the fall for us. That was the best outcome for us."

Brian said softly, "So that’s how it was. I had a high opinion of Antoine, I didn’t think he would betray me."

Yarebin laughed, "Antoine’s biggest flaw was his inability to choose the most advantageous way to complete a mission; he often squandered our limited funds."

After expressing this sentiment, Yarebin suddenly asked, "So, you had decent food in prison, what about your accommodations?"

Brian, completely void of emotion, responded blankly, "Not bad. I spent 16 years in a single cell. Apart from the occasional heart-to-heart with former colleagues, I often enjoyed plenty of personal space for self-reflection. It wasn’t until they had locked me up for 16 years that they gave me a cellmate."

Yarebin smiled and said, "Impressive. You’re the first person to make being tortured and thrown in solitary sound so enticing, 16 years, you’re really something."

Brian, with disdain in his voice, said, "You’re trying to provoke me, want to drive me insane? Although I don’t know your purpose, I think I could guess; you’re all sick, you delight in seeing others in pain."

After speaking, Brian clenched his fists, anger written all over his face, "I could let you have your laugh, but I’m running out of patience. You know what I want, tell me!"
