Chapter 743 - 749 The End
Chapter 743: Chapter 749 The End
Yang Yi’s teammates were never incompetent.
But now, right by Yang Yi’s side, there truly was a god-tier teammate.
So strong it was indescribable, impossibly strong that any attempt to describe it would be dismissed as nonsense by those who had not seen it with their own eyes.
It was too easy; this mission should have been incredibly dangerous and tough, facing both Black Devil and Fearless, with a real possibility of casualties. That’s why Yang Yi and his team had gone to extraordinary lengths, and their ace in the hole was a series of directional mines modified by McDonald, which could blast backwards.
The plan was to use bombs and the modified directional mines to take out the Fearless Mercenary Corps, but now, with Black Devil joining the fray, all the preparations were no longer necessary.
It was possible to fight side by side with Black Devil because once they were surrounded, Black Devil would only be able to break out with Organization of Water’s help by taking down Fearless Mercenary Corps, but this was only a possibility, not a reliable strategy to depend on.
The words Brian and Yarebin had said from beginning to end were meant to mislead Yarebin, deliberately chosen to steer outcomes toward the most favorable direction, which led to Black Devil indeed fighting alongside Organization of Water.
After that, everything became simple.
Yang Yi was convinced; he had long been utterly convinced of Black Devil’s combat power, regardless of whether he wanted to admit it, Black Devil was undoubtedly superior to Organization of Water.
But now, Yang Yi felt nothing but the urge to worship the god who was within arm’s reach.
The Gun God, the god among guns.
Organization of Water was a spy organization with a complex mix of members, varying in combat abilities. For a spy organization, this wasn’t a problem, as Organization of Water typically split into two parts: an intelligence unit and an action unit.
Strictly speaking, Organization of Water’s action unit was definitely not weak, and the intelligence unit was certainly strong enough, but it all depended on who they were compared to. If compared to Black Devil, they certainly fell short in action.
However, even if Organization of Water’s action unit could not surpass Black Devil, the gap was not immense, and the reason why it now felt like Organization of Water’s combat power couldn’t hold a candle to Black Devil was because there was a Gun God within Black Devil.
Organization of Water was outclassed, but wasn’t Black Devil too being overshadowed by the Gun God, losing its luster?
Setting aside other factors and focusing just on battle, the pure, life-and-death combat, no matter how strong Black Devil were, they too had their limelight stolen by that Gun God.
Yang Yi didn’t even bother to shoot anymore, because there truly was no need for him to do so.
The man in the black mask changed a magazine, and then, with a wave of his hand, the chubby man with a ruddy nose and a slim Black Devil member immediately raised their guns and opened fire continuously on one of Fearless Mercenary Corps’ fiercely resistant squads.
Roman was the machine gunner, his role was to suppress. Seeing the main direction of Black Devil’s suppression, he immediately turned his muzzle and fired a long burst.
The suppression from two rifles and a machine gun made it temporarily impossible for the Fearless Mercenary Corps to aim and shoot. At that moment, the man in the black mask suddenly left his cover, stooping as he moved quickly across an open area.
He was acting with total disdain for his own safety, exposing himself to enemy fire using a tactic that no veteran would ever choose.
But the man in the black mask had the right to do so.
As soon as the suppressing fire paused, Fearless’s men had to shoot again, and then the man in the black mask opened fire once more.
One who had just poked his head out a little had his skull-cap shot off, and then the man in the black mask, still crouching, swung the muzzle of his gun quickly back and forth, firing instantly upon spotting a target, killing anyone he laid eyes on.
It was too easy, so easy that there was nothing left to be done.
Yang Yi looked around in astonishment, realizing the ease wasn’t his alone.
Everyone was relaxed. The situation was such that everyone was intentionally or unintentionally suppressing the enemy for the man in the black mask, without having to concern themselves with precise shooting. All that was required was to keep the enemy down, providing the man in the black mask an environment where he didn’t have to worry about his rear and could focus on shooting, then leaving everything else to him.
So this was another way to fight a battle; Yang Yi truly had his eyes opened.
Yang Yi picked up the intercom, his voice urgent, "Dark Arrow, what’s your status, answer me quickly!"
The battle had just begun not so long ago; it was supposed to be in full swing, leaving no time for Yang Yi to check on the three individuals who had moved with the enemy. But now that he was unoccupied, he could inquire about their situation.
"I’m hiding at the back, safe!"
The first to reply was Zhang Yong, who had ducked to the rear while impersonating Francois giving orders. As soon as the bewildering fight began, which left the Fearless Mercenary Corps completely confused, he retreated swiftly and was now perfectly safe without any issues.
"Holy Water safe, over."
Paul was also safe; his choice was similar to Zhang Yong’s, having moved to a rear position before the battle even started.
Only Chris cried out in desperation, "Save me! Save me! They’re shooting at me, fuck! They don’t dare fire at you all, so they’re all coming at me!"
Yang Yi’s heart raced as he asked in a low, urgent voice, "Can you evade them?"
"I’m hiding in a hole, less than twenty meters away from them; if someone stands up, they could shoot me dead!"
Hearing Chris say this, Yang Yi felt relieved.
Because no one McGregor was leading could stand up; if anyone dared, the sharpshooter would definitely take them out with a single shot.
"Just be careful of hand grenades, no one can stand up to attack you! I’ll come and save you soon!"
After speaking, Yang Yi urgently commanded, "Blade Queen! Go support the deceiver, fast!"
The battle was soon coming to an end.
McGregor was furious, he screamed into the intercom, "Jethro! Jethro! Fuck!"
McGregor found his intercom was no longer working, he couldn’t contact anyone, so he despairingly placed a remote control in front of him.
It was a remote for a Directional Mine.
Upon receiving Francois’s order to advance the formation, McGregor had brought along two Directional Mines, which could be remotely detonated.
Directional Mines inflict damage only from one side, but that didn’t mean being behind them was safe; if the distance was too short, one could still be killed by the blast, which is why McGregor and his team had set up two Directional Mines in sensible positions in front of them.
But watching the enemies draw closer, close enough to be within the Directional Mines’ lethal range, McGregor felt it was time.
"Die, ah!"
McGregor pressed the detonation button, but nothing happened; he paused, then yelled and pressed the detonator again.
"Ah!"
Still, nothing happened.
"Ah! Ah! Ah..., fuck!"
McGregor threw away the detonator; he wanted to rush over and detonate it manually, but as he was just starting to raise his body, a bullet hit the bridge of his nose.
McGregor had no chance to detonate the Directional Mines.
