Chapter 720: Chapter 726: Behind

At the intersection which Ferdinand must pass through, Yang Yi and his team quickly dispersed to find advantageous and hidden positions.

Rocket launchers were taken out of the vehicles, and everyone who could use them was equipped with at least two.

Brian and Chris were in one car, both ready to attack with rocket launchers.

There was no time to get out of the car and seek shelter in a building, so everyone had to stay in their vehicles, waiting to ambush Ferdinand as he approached. Thus, the attack had to be swift, and its conclusion equally rapid. If they didn’t kill Ferdinand straightaway, it meant failure, and if Ferdinand’s men managed to pin them down, it was pretty much time to leave Ukraine.

And Yang Yi and his team were the ones holding the proverbial knife.

Once everything was ready, Jethro took a deep breath, then made the urgent call to Ferdinand.

"Ferdinand! We’ve been attacked, Corkdor is done for, Big Ivan is about to strike at you, get out of there now! Hurry!"

Jethro enteres into character very quickly, his tone was full of urgency and panic as he shouted as soon as Ferdinand answered the call.

"What’s going on! What happened to Corkdor? I haven’t gotten any report!"

Jethro angrily replied, "Corkdor’s men are all dead! He was attacked in the Ukraine Hotel, and when he called me, Big Ivan’s men caught him red-handed. Listen, Corkdor was kidnapped while talking to me, they took him alive!"

"What did you say!"

"We must regroup," Jethro hurriedly said, "Our current safe house is no longer safe, it’s too dangerous, we could be attacked at any moment, tell me where we should meet!"

Ferdinand was silent for a moment, then he said in a solemn voice, "We’ll meet at the previously agreed place, I’ll get there in ten minutes, Jethro, this is a critical moment, we have to work together to get through this crisis."

"How did you pull it off?" Jethro asked slowly.

Yang Yi shrugged and replied, "We just followed him and saw it. You know, my people have been tracking Corkdor all along."

Jethro seemed about to say something, but in the end, he simply nodded and said, "If you’re sure, that’s good."

Yang Yi spoke over the radio, "The target will appear soon, everyone get ready. We must take out Ferdinand at once, and after succeeding, withdraw immediately, switch vehicles, then head to the rendezvous point. Over."

After speaking into the walkie-talkie, Yang Yi whispered to Zhang Yong, "Brother Yong, get ready."

Zhang Yong took a breath and laughed, "It’s a bit tricky to shoot a moving car. You shoot the car to a stop first, then I’ll shoot to make sure we don’t miss anything and get them all in one go."

Yang Yi suddenly pushed the car door open and got out. He stood by the roadside and opened fire on the Mercedes G that Ferdinand was in.

Ferdinand’s men started to fight back, but they could only begin shooting from the cars. After the first three vehicles were taken out, Yang Yi and his team extended their firepower to the cars in the rear of the convoy. Soon, the fourth vehicle turned into a fireball, and not a single person who ran from it was able to escape.

The remaining people, of course, could choose to fight back, but their best option was to quickly reverse. After losing the initiative, trying to push through to the front was truly the most dangerous choice.

The cars in the back started to reverse one after another. After two cars made this decision, soon every vehicle that could still move began to back away. They could retreat a distance, regroup, and then attack again. Of course, they could also choose to scatter and flee.

The ambush was very successful and quite effortless. After driving out several kilometers, Yang Yi quietly said to Jethro, "Call Ferdinand."

If someone answered the call, it would be a complete failure, because it would mean Ferdinand was still alive. If no one answered but the call went through, it would also mean failure, essentially.
