Chapter 712: Chapter 718: Intelligence Room

The so-called intelligence room was a place that Brian and his team established specifically for surveillance purposes. They needed to conceal the capabilities of the Organization of Water, because if Jethro found out that a mercenary group possessed abilities that didn’t align with typical mercenary skills, even he would be smart enough to figure out what was going on.

Jethro always knew what Yang Yi and his team were up to, but he had no idea to what extent his acquaintances in Trident could go.

In reality, only Schultz was stationed permanently in the intelligence room. While Brian spent most of his time there, he also frequently visited the lodging points of Yang Yi and Jethro. As for Hans and Paul, they hardly had any chance to return because they were constantly watching over Corkdor.

If nothing happened, all the efforts of the Organization of Water would be in vain, a waste of manpower and resources without any significance. But once something did happen, like right now, the entire intelligence department of Ukraine wouldn’t be as efficient as the Organization of Water.

The Organization of Water had a targeted approach; they had been waiting, and what they were waiting for was this very moment.

Yang Yi arrived before Zhang Yong and the others did.

In front of Schultz, there were more than a dozen screens of varying sizes, arranged in an arc. The screens displayed various surveillance feeds, some with good quality, including high-definition images, and some only in black and white.

Schultz sat in front of the screens, wearing a headset around his neck as he rapidly typed on the keyboard while perched on a swivel chair.

Brian was sitting behind Schultz, his fingers interlocked in front of him, staring intently at the row of monitors with a serious expression on his face.

"White Roar! Reconnect the audio link to the police headquarters, right now we only have video but no sound, no sound! Link two, no, give me three effective audio sources!"

Schultz shouted urgently, and then Tang Guo’s voice came through a speaker.

Despite the urgency, Tang Guo’s voice was still sweet.

"Understood, changing the audio source. One from the police situation center, one from the major case squad’s office, and one from the office of the headquarters’ chief."

After a few seconds, the sound from police headquarters came through.

The noise was chaotic, but soon a loud voice said, "Has someone been dispatched? Has the news leaked?"

Upon hearing this, Schultz immediately turned off the other sounds, leaving only one voice. The noisy background was reduced, and the conversation between the two could be heard clearly.

"Chief, the person who reported the incident has been taken into custody, and the outside world is still unaware of the news. At the scene, a total of twenty-three bodies have been found, there was no exchange of fire; these people seem to have been killed in their sleep. However, the male homeowner was executed, his throat slit, and he struggled for a long time before dying, his wife and child also among the deceased."

"No exchange of fire?"

"None! Most of the victims were killed by blunt or sharp objects, and many were fully armed but did not fire their weapons."

"Fully armed yet silently perished. Such a sophisticated method of killing... What about the time of death?"

"According to the preliminary assessment by the medical examiner, the time of death was between four and six in the morning. Chief, there are two lines written on the wall in the room, one reads ’The fate of a traitor,’ and the other ’Those who are my enemies shall die.’ It’s clear this is gang retaliation, we..."

"It’s not gang retaliation. Listen, have your people secure the scene, don’t allow anyone to leak the information to the public. If reporters get there, then you can resign yourself. Pass this message on to your subordinates: if the news leaks, every single person who knows about this, and I mean every one of them, will pay dearly."

"Yes, Chief! I’ll also head to the scene immediately."

"Secure the scene well. I will call the Ukrainian National Security Bureau, and as soon as their people arrive, you will withdraw all of ours. Go do it now!"

Listening to the coming conversation, Yang Yi looked at Brian with excitement.

Brian nodded lightly and said, "Yes, it’s a counterattack from Big Ivan, very sharp."

Yang Yi said without hesitation, "Corkdor hasn’t received the message, or perhaps, he has blocked the communication to Jethro, but I think that’s unlikely; he has no reason to block messages to Jethro."

Brian nodded lightly, and after pondering for a moment, he said in a low voice, "Let’s assume for now that Corkdor hasn’t received the information, then we also block the messages!"

Yang Yi took a deep breath and said, "Big Ivan’s counterattack is very fierce, I believe this is just a beginning rather than an end. If I were Big Ivan, I would either not act at all or, if I did, sweep the enemies away with overwhelming force!"

Brian shook his head and said, "It might only be a punishment for the traitor because Collins is a traitor, not an enemy. If Big Ivan wants to eliminate all his enemies with the fiercest posture, then the first he should get rid of is Corkdor."

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "That’s a possibility, but what if Big Ivan doesn’t know where Corkdor is?"

Brian said in a deep voice, "Does Collins know Corkdor’s whereabouts?"

"He doesn’t know. Collins is just a somewhat valuable traitor. Corkdor wouldn’t let him know his whereabouts."

At this moment, Tang Guo’s voice suddenly rang out again.

"The police control room has received an emergency call! Bernesta Street! Someone’s killing people on the street, a gunfight is happening right now!"

Schultz immediately switched the audio, then he rapidly typed on the keyboard and said urgently, "Bernesta Street, exactly where!"

The caller described the scene in a frantic and confused manner, someone had killed two people with a hammer, a group of people were armed with guns, and gunshots were heard, but despite being asked several times, the caller couldn’t provide a precise location.

Yang Yi ran through the information in his mind, then he quickly spread out a map in front of Schultz and said urgently, "Here! Here! Near 336 Bernesta Street."

Schultz glanced at it, then immediately said in a rush, "We have cameras, Bernesta Street... this one!"

An image captured by a traffic surveillance camera appeared on the screen. The picture wasn’t very clear, but it showed that the street was in chaos, no pedestrians were visible, some cars were stopped on the road, but only the condition of the road could be seen, both sides weren’t clear.

Brian said urgently, "Can you control the camera?"

"I can, but it might be detected."

Brian commanded sternly, "Move the camera, to the right."

Schultz immediately controlled the camera to pan right, and as the image shifted, Brian suddenly said, "Stop!"

"Stop!"

Yang Yi also shouted, and then he saw people getting into two cars, which then drove away. The camera’s image wasn’t very clear, and it only managed to capture people closing the car doors. Neither the people nor the license plate numbers were visible.

Yang Yi said with great surprise, "That place is where Corkdor arranges his people, prepared to deal with Big Ivan’s men, but the attackers... only had two cars?"
