Spy-x-War Showdown
Chapter 574 - 582

Chapter 574: 582

Although he had nothing to fear, Yang Yi couldn’t shake off an uneasy feeling until he confirmed that the matter was completely resolved.

If because of this damned affair he could no longer come to Germany, or even worse, become a wanted criminal in the European Union, then the joke would be too big.

So, Yang Yi was in very low spirits.

After all, the matter was not handled cleanly enough. One should either not take action at all and not look back after leaving, or if one takes action, do it with finality to avoid leaving behind consequences of unknown severity, which would just be creating trouble for oneself.

While Yang Yi was waiting for the cleaner’s reply, his phone rang again. Seeing the call from an unfamiliar number, Yang Yi thought it was the cleaner. But when he answered, it was Justin’s voice.

"Hi, Sea God, have you found anything about Deyo Marcel? His address, possible hideouts, anything at all?"

After Justin called and immediately threw out a question, Yang Yi pondered for a moment, then said, "Currently, there’s nothing. Why? What happened?"

After a moment of silence, Justin said in a heavy tone, "Yes, information on Deyo Marcel is worth a lot right now. If you can tell me where he is, there’s a ten million US dollar reward for you. Even if you just have some leads, tell me, and if the leads prove to be useful, I’ll immediately pay you one million."

Yang Yi responded in surprise, "Is the information really that urgent? Can you tell me what happened?"

Justin sighed and said, "Ah, that’s a very pricey question. But I’ll tell you anyway. because before long the whole world will know. Listen, Deyo Marcel’s son has been killed. His eldest, the one he’s been grooming to be his successor, was taken out publicly in Kiev. You know what this means, right?"

Yang Yi and Deyo Marcel were certainly enemies, since Deyo Marcel was responsible for the death of Kate’s family. So, upon hearing that Deyo Marcel’s son had been killed, Yang Yi’s first reaction was one of pleasure. However, he soon realized the gravity of the situation.

Deyo Marcel’s son had been taken out. This meant war was on the horizon.

Yang Yi quickly said, "I understand what this means. Hmm, but I have no leads right now. However, if I come across any, I’ll sell you the information."

Justin, in a rush, said, "Investigate as soon as possible. This information is worth ten million dollars right now. If you get anything, call me. Goodbye."

Yang Yi actually wanted to ask more questions, but Justin would surely not just call him; he would call everyone capable of investigating the incident.

After hanging up, Yang Yi muttered to himself, "Deyo Marcel’s son is dead, died in Ukraine, which means..."

Before Yang Yi could finish speaking to himself, the phone rang again. This time, upon answering, Yang Yi heard Elvin speak in a grave voice, "There’s something I think you’ll be interested in. Deyo Marcel’s son is dead. He was taken out in Kiev. We don’t deal in the information trade, but the information on Deyo Marcel is very valuable right now. Is the Organization of Water interested in it?"

Justin had made contact over the phone because he knew information on Deyo Marcel was highly valuable at the moment. What made Yang Yi curious, though, was why Justin was only interested in Deyo’s whereabouts, showing no interest in information about who had taken out Deyo’s son. And now, Elvin had also made a call.

What did this imply? It meant that both the Cicero Family and the cleaners were extremely interested in the same issue, and more likely than not, they might even know who had killed Deyo Marcel’s son.

Deyo Marcel and Big Ivan waged war, and this was no secret, anyone with a certain weight in the underworld knew it, and once this kind of underground world war started, it was a carnival for intelligence traders and mercenaries.

For intelligence traders, the buying and selling of information is always a two-way street. Selling information about the warring parties to each other is like standard procedure, similar to arms dealers selling weapons to both sides in a conflict.

But now, Justin only wanted information on Deyo Marcel, and had zero interest in information about Big Ivan’s side, which raised the question, what did this imply? It suggested he was initiating a one-sided informational blockade.

Therefore, it was easy to deduce that Justin was very likely supporting Big Ivan’s side. He didn’t collect information on Big Ivan because acquiring intelligence cost a pretty penny, and collecting unusable information just to cover one’s backside was too costly if it couldn’t be sold.

After some contemplation, Yang Yi felt that Justin’s stance was merely his own and certainly did not represent the Cicero Family, for the Cicero Family would never take sides during the war between two arms giants, they would only profit from it.

The attitude of Elvin, however, represented the stance of the cleaner, because Elvin would not and could not afford to have his own leanings and express them. The cleaners’ control over their subordinates was not like the Cicero Family’s, so the cleaner had already picked a side, standing with Big Ivan. Otherwise, Elvin certainly wouldn’t have made this call.

The two calls revealed too much, and after some thought, Yang Yi said in a deep voice, "We will do our best to find information about Deyo Marcel, but is there a buyer for this intelligence?"

Elvin said solemnly, "I’m merely offering a business opportunity. I’m not responsible for buying or selling intelligence, but if you do get your hands on the information, you can tell me. Maybe we’ll buy it, or perhaps we’ll provide you with a buyer, but that’s for later when you have the intelligence in hand."

Yang Yi laughed, "Alright, I thought you were calling about my commission."

Elvin also laughed, "Your commission will naturally be handled by local cleaners, please be patient and wait, goodbye."

Calls always seem to come one after another, just as Yang Yi had hung up the phone and hadn’t quite digested the previous conversation, the phone rang again.

This time, it was indeed the cleaner calling.

"Mr. Sea God, your issue has been resolved, and with this, your commission is concluded."

Yang Yi’s spirits lifted as he glanced at his watch, noting that only just over five hours had passed.

"It’s been resolved? How?"

"The painter unfortunately met with a car accident and died on the spot. The police sketches have been replaced. Since the issue is resolved, that’s all we need to do for now. Of course, we will follow up on this case, and if anything develops unfavorably, we will handle it."

Yang Yi was quite startled for a moment before he curiously asked, "How would that female painter, whether at home or at the police station, end up on the street?"

"That’s a detail, Mr. Sea God, and we don’t need to discuss details, do we? You only need a satisfactory outcome, as for how we do it, that’s not your concern. So, I wish you a good mood for the day."

Without giving Yang Yi a chance to ask more, the call was cut off, and Yang Yi said reflectively, "Although I really shouldn’t have spent that $2.6 million US dollars, the cleaners’ efficiency is truly impressive."
