Chapter 536: Chapter 524: Han Niu

Chris and Anton arrived after taking a direct flight from Kyiv, but their flight was heavily delayed.

As they were about to walk into a Western restaurant with Yang Yi, Chris furrowed his brows and couldn’t help saying, "Why did we come to Seoul and not try the local cuisine, but instead go for French food?"

Yang Yi turned to look at Chris and shrugged his shoulders, saying, "Well, you’ve got to try the local specialties at some point."

Xiao Ran immediately said, "Let’s go for barbecue then, we haven’t had barbecue yet, maybe it will be good."

"Great idea! Maybe it will be good."

The five of them arrived at a famous and upscale barbecue restaurant in Seocho District. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, but when more than a dozen plates of kimchi were brought out, Chris, full of interest, asked, "What’s this? I didn’t order these. Are they free?"

Yang Yi was too lazy to answer these questions by then. As for Anton, food never was his main concern.

Picking up a piece of spicy cabbage to taste, Chris made a disgusted face and said "Why give away something so disgusting? Shouldn’t they give away delicious treats to attract customers?"

Still, no one answered Chris’s question.

The meat arrived for grilling and Chris found the idea of grilling marinated slices of meat quite appealing. When the first plate of beef was about a third done, he couldn’t wait and stuffed a slice into his mouth.

"This tastes great, really good, I like it. Reminds me of the BBQ in the yard. Why aren’t you all eating?"

Yang Yi listlessly picked up a piece of beef, tasted it, and was pleasantly surprised, saying, "This is tasty, really tasty! Compared to kimchi with rice, this is super delicious, hey, everyone try it, it’s really good."

Chris was also surprised and said, "You seem very shocked."

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "Nothing, let’s just eat."

After finishing the first portion of roast beef, Yang Yi placed a portion of pork belly on the grill, and after a short while, Chris commented, "Not bad, but I prefer beef. I can’t understand why most people here go for pork belly."

Anton didn’t speak; he just ate, and he ate a lot and fast. Most of a plate of barbecue went his way, more than what the other four combined had eaten.

Finally, Chris very confidently said, "Beef is better, I need more beef. This portion is too small. Hey, waiter, could we get... ten portions of beef, please?"

"What kind of beef would you like?" asked the waiter.

The waiter’s English was very fluent, and Chris, without even thinking, said, "The best."

After the waiter left, Chris looked at Yang Yi and asked, "How did the preliminary scouting go?"

Yang Yi gave Chris a strange look and then said in a serious voice, "Who is paying for this meal?"

Chris said nonchalantly, "I’ll pay for it, it’s no big deal."

Yang Yi laughed, then cheerfully said, "We took a look at the terrain around the company. The building has sixteen floors, and the company occupies the entire ninth floor, but we didn’t go inside."

Yang Yi intentionally omitted the name of the Anderson Research Association, and Chris nodded, saying, "What identity did the employer give me?"

Yang Yi pulled out a document from the bag he was carrying and handed it to Chris, who, after a glance, frowned and said, "A meat product distributor? I thought it would be something in finance or some other high-tech industry company. If it’s a meat product distributor, why would there be any need to consult a... company?"

Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "The best the employer could provide was this shell company. Take a closer look at the document, look for excuses you think might be useful."

Chris pursed his lips and flipped through the document. Then he looked up at the beef that had just been placed on the grill and suddenly said, "Let’s go with the pretense of planning to export frozen beef to South Korea. What position do I hold in this company?"

"Whatever you think is appropriate. We’ll first confirm your name and position, then inform the employer. They will add your information to their company’s records, and even a detailed investigation won’t be a problem."

Chris nodded, handed the document back to Yang Yi, and said, "I’ll take a closer look when I get back. For now, let’s eat; I’m starving."

Five people, ten servings of beef—it sounds like quite a bit, but in reality, each serving of beef was small, and all five of them, including Yang Yi, were people with large appetites from being very active, so ten servings weren’t enough.

So, amidst the slightly surprised and envious gazes of the people sitting nearby, Chris ordered another ten servings of beef.

In the end, four servings of beef were left, but Chris couldn’t eat anymore. He was very satisfied with his first meal in Seoul, so he snapped his fingers casually and said to the waiter, "Check, please. How much? Tell me the price in US Dollars, I haven’t exchanged for Korean won yet."

"Good evening, sir. Your total is two thousand eight hundred twenty-six US Dollars," the waiter responded.

The smile on Chris’s face froze, and then he asked in utter disbelief, "You said how much?"

"Two thousand eight hundred twenty-six US Dollars, sir."

Chris’s lips began to tremble, half in anger and the other half still in anger.

"Why don’t you just rob me? What kind of place is this? You dare charge me so much! Do you think I’m an idiot? Fuck!" Chris exclaimed.

The waiter said innocently, "I’m sorry, sir, but this is a very reasonable charge. May I ask what makes you unsatisfied?"

Yang Yi coughed lightly and said to Chris, "Hey, hey, don’t make a scene. Didn’t you look at the menu?"

Chris angrily said, "Of course, I did. Premium beef is twenty US Dollars a serving; it’s tiny and pricey, but I can still afford it! Why does the bill come to three thousand Dollars at checkout? That’s robbery!"

The waiter replied with an innocent look, "You asked for the best, and I confirmed it with you."

Yang Yi, trying to suppress a laugh, said, "You really should have looked more closely at the menu. The premium beef is imported beef, but the best you asked for is Hanwoo. Check out the price of Hanwoo, and besides, this place is a high-end restaurant, so, time to pay up."

Chris grabbed the menu in a rage and flipped through it. After a few moments, his face showed utter shock as he said, "Damn, one hundred twenty US Dollars a serving? What kind of beef is this? Are you kidding me?"

Anton said expressionlessly, "I’ve had my fill, but knowing how expensive the beef is, I suddenly feel like eating again. I’ll have to finish what’s left."

Yang Yi couldn’t help laughing and then said to Chris, "Hurry up and pay. You’re making us look bad. You’re a millionaire, can’t you afford a few thousand dollars for a meal?"

As Chris dug out money from his wallet, his face looked incredibly sour, and he said angrily, "I have money, but I still don’t want to be taken for a fool. Hanwoo, it’s not even as good as the premium beef."
