Chapter 509: Chapter 497: There is a Killing Intent

Hank said the difficulties not only existed but were also insurmountable with the methods Yang Yi and his team had at their disposal; the idea of stealthily investigating everything and then striking like thunder was simply impossible.

Since they couldn’t prepare everything and then steal the gold, they had no choice but to go in hard, blow up the walls, blow open the safe, and then snatch the gold and run.

Now the question was, how to blow it up.

Yang Yi pointed at the computer and said, "The walls are one meter thick, reinforced concrete structures. I want to know how to blow up this wall?"

Brian looked troubled, and after pondering for a moment shook his head and said, "I’ve studied explosives, but I’m not an expert. These walls are load-bearing, and with my level of expertise, if I want to blow up this wall, I would have to use a large amount of explosive. But too much explosive could bring the whole building down..."

Paul also shook his head and said softly, "I can’t do it either."

Hank raised his hands and waved them continuously, saying, "Don’t look at me, I definitely don’t do explosives, I can’t deal with that stuff."

Demolition seemed simple, as if just piling up the explosives and setting them off would do the job, but it wasn’t that easy; demolition is a technical task, one that requires a very high level of expertise.

Just like Brian had said, too much explosive and the entire building could collapse; too little and the wall wouldn’t budge. What’s more, Yang Yi and his team didn’t just need to blow a hole through the wall; they needed to create an opening large enough for at least two people to pass through side by side.

Both Brian and Paul had definitely received explosive training, but their training at best meant they knew how to use explosives—to breach a door during combat or to bring down a building without a problem. But to carry out an explosion inside a building—a powerful one at that without making the building collapse and burying themselves—that would require an expert, a real demolition expert, and an exceptional one at that.

Yang Yi looked at Xiao Ran and then at Kate; they were out of the question. Rodriguez and Chris didn’t even bear thinking about, and as for Zhang Yong, Yang Yi had never heard him mention any expertise in demolitions, leaving only one person: Anton.

Yang Yi picked up the phone and called Anton.

Anton’s voice sounded extremely irritated as he said, "Who is this, do you not know what time it is?"

Yang Yi could hear two women in the background asking in unison, "What’s going on?"

Yang Yi said in a low voice, "Do you understand explosives? Like an expert in demolitions?"

"No!"

Anton grunted angrily, then said very irritably, "Wrong number..."

Although the response was off-topic, it conveyed the meaning Yang Yi needed. He hung up the phone, shook his head at everyone, and said, "Anton can’t do it either."

Brian slapped his hand and said, "Where are we going to find a demolition expert? Let’s just get the cleaner to send someone over."

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "No, we agreed that the cleaner is only responsible for getting us here and getting us out, nothing else."

Xiao Ran said urgently, "Then what do we do? Shall we just blow it up ourselves!"

Brian shook his head and said, "No, I don’t want to die, and I especially don’t want to bury myself alive. I’ve done the calculations, and no matter how I think about it, the building feels like it would collapse."

An idea suddenly sparked in Yang Yi’s mind, and he said excitedly, "I’ve got it! I know who is a demolition expert!"

Brian asked curiously, "Who?"

"McDonald Quinn!"

Yang Yi stood up, and then said to Brian excitedly, "What do you think, does McDonald Quinn count as a demolition expert?"

Brian said without hesitation, "No shit! Of course, he is!"

McDonald Quinn made a name for himself with terrorist bombings, but he wasn’t just skilled at planting car bombs—this guy was a true explosives expert. Had he not joined the Irish Republican Army, he could have become an architect.

Yang Yi said excitedly, "McDonald Quinn is in Italy; he’s in Sicily, in Palermo! I even know his address and phone number."

When Schultz and Tang Guo hacked into the British Home Office’s database, the profile of McDonald Quinn, marked with four extreme danger tags, made a strong impression on Yang Yi, so of course, he remembered all the details about him.

Brian shrugged and said, "But why would McDonald Quinn want to help you?"

Yang Yi was stunned for a moment.

Rapping his fingers on the table, Brian said, "You could offer him a handsome sum, or kidnap and coerce him, or does he have any family members?"

Yang Yi shook his head, "No family."

Brian sighed and said, "That makes things difficult, doesn’t it? Coercion isn’t suitable then. What if McDonald Quinn gets angry and decides he wants us to join him in death? The guy’s been a terrorist his whole life, and no one can predict what he’ll do. He has no family or anything else to consider, so I won’t risk coercion. That leaves offering a hefty sum."

Finding the right person was not the issue; the problem was how to get him onboard.

After thinking for a moment, Yang Yi said, "Let’s meet him first. Offer him a generous reward. If that doesn’t work, we’ll think of something else. It doesn’t take long to get to Sicily. I’ll go there, and if it really doesn’t work, we’ll figure out another method."

Brian agreed it was best to meet first, and he said in a grave voice, "Then go, but be fully prepared in case he disagrees..."

After a pause, Brian spoke quietly, "Paul and I will go with you. If he disagrees, we might have to risk using the threatening approach despite the danger."

Someone needed to hold down the fort in Rome. Yang Yi said solemnly, "No, I’ll go alone. You need to stay and manage everything here."

Brian smiled and asked, "You know how to kill, but do you know how to kidnap someone?"

Yang Yi grinned, "Anton. I’ll take Anton with me. He should be good at this. With his help, that’ll be enough."

Sicily wasn’t far. A half-day by plane would be enough for a round trip. Yang Yi said with a serious tone, "Time is of the essence. I’ll give the cleaners a call to arrange the plane."

Rodriguez couldn’t contain his excitement, "Exactly, time is tight. You guys need to set off right now. Call Anton back immediately."

Yang Yi looked at Rodriguez and chuckled, "Did Anton offend you?"

"No!"

Rodriguez declared indignantly, "I just can’t stand him. Why does he get the girls and I don’t? And the worst part is he got two. Can he even handle that?"

Pointing at Rodriguez, Yang Yi sighed, "You’re jealous of him, buddy."

Rodriguez nodded, "Yeah, I am jealous! Don’t tell me you guys aren’t? I don’t believe it. You just won’t admit it."

Yang Yi said annoyed, "Enough. What do we have to be jealous of? Buddy, if you admire him that much, why don’t you learn from him? Maybe if Anton teaches you a thing or two, you might become a pro yourself. What good does jealousy do, right? Look at me..."

Damn it, a killing intent behind him. Yang Yi felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, and he quickly said, "Look at me, I despise Anton’s behavior. What he does is despicable, and if you want to be like him, I can’t stop you, but I would never do the same! Never!"
