"Retreat! Retreat!"

Yang Yi shouted twice into the radio, followed by Zhang Yong’s urgent voice, "Suppress the enemy, hold them down!"

The enemy had superior firepower and numbers, but there was no effective coordination among them; they were defeated in detail despite their overwhelming advantage in firepower and numbers.

If this were a trap, the enemy’s performance was embarrassingly poor.

The battle seemed highly perilous, but in reality, it was only that—the enemy lacked any coordination. If the enemy reinforcements from behind had arrived two minutes earlier, Trident would have been utterly annihilated without a chance to escape.

Because if that armored vehicle hadn’t been destroyed before it started firing, in just ten seconds, a few of Yang Yi’s men might have survived, but they wouldn’t have been able to fight back in the slightest.

So, it seemed unlikely to be a trap, because with even the most basic coordination, Trident would have been doomed.

But if it wasn’t a trap, Yang Yi found it hard to come up with a reason why there would be two armored vehicles hidden in a supermarket warehouse, nor why there would be a large number of armed personnel nearby a supermarket.

"I need a prisoner!"

Yang Yi quickly made a decision. He didn’t need to capture someone who knew everything; anyone who could explain why they were here would suffice.

Xiao Ran single-handedly held off a group of enemies, but when the enemies flanking from the rear began to return fire at Xiao Ran, she and Kate were instantly in grave danger. However, once Zhang Yong led reinforcements to support Xiao Ran, the pressure on her significantly decreased.

Yang Yi couldn’t make heads or tails of the confusing battle.

Just then, Jenny rapidly spoke a few words into a radio that was set to a different frequency from Trident’s, so Yang Yi had no idea what she said.

But soon after, a van appeared from behind the enemy, followed by two sedans. Four or five people got out and started shooting at the enemy’s rear.

The newcomers had weak firepower, but the effect of restraining the enemy from behind was excellent. Roman set up his machine gun and sprayed the enemy mercilessly, while each of Xiao Ran’s rifle shots claimed a life. In just a few exchanges, the enemies blocking the way found themselves in dire straits.

Now Yang Yi could hear Jenny’s words on the radio, but that was hardly necessary, as everyone on the ground knew what to do.

Yang Yi, Anton, Zhang Yong, Rodriguez, along with Sergei and Brian made a charge into the cluster of enemies. After a close-range series of shots killed seven men, Anton kicked an injured enemy in the head and then declared gravely, "We can go now!"

Yang Yi ran to Kate’s side and asked urgently, "How are you? I saw you fall from the vehicle; were you shot?"

Kate pointed to her chest and whispered, "I was shot, but I’m okay, it’s just my arm that’s injured."

Yang Yi finally felt relieved, then he pulled Kate toward the vehicle, saying, "Quick, get in the car!"

Some provided cover-fire against the enemies still shooting from the building, others drove, and then everyone got into the vehicles. The wheels rolled over the corpses of enemies as Yang Yi and his team swiftly left the battlefield.

Jenny drove a car herself, and as soon as Yang Yi and Kate got into her car, Jenny immediately demanded loudly, "I need an explanation!"

"I need an explanation!"

Yang Yi and Jenny spoke at the same time, but Jenny, undeterred, asked, "Why did they say the gold wasn’t in there?"

Yang Yi angrily replied, "The intelligence was provided by you. Why were there armored vehicles here?"

Jenny raised a hand, took a breath, and then exclaimed, "Alright, let’s take this one thing at a time. First, tell me why you said the gold wasn’t in there. Did you search thoroughly? You didn’t even have two minutes inside; I don’t believe you checked the warehouse completely."

Yang Yi stated gravely, "There was a car in the warehouse, but it was empty. There were shelves, but they couldn’t possibly bear the weight of gold. Do you think the enemy would store gold so diffusely on the shelves? There was nothing on the floor, so the gold definitely wasn’t there. Besides, if the gold were in there, there would have been more than just two armored vehicles. It’s simple logic."

Jenny sighed, then replied solemnly, "No gold, something’s gone wrong."

"That’s a question I should be asking you, right?"

Jenny was silent for a moment before she said into the radio, "Mission failed. All participants in the gold heist evacuate from Warsaw."

After that, Jenny fiercely hit the steering wheel.

Yang Yi was also frustrated, but he didn’t want to unleash his anger on Jenny, so he stated heavily, "I feel this wasn’t a trap, but I must consider this battle as if it were, otherwise I can’t explain what happened."

Jenny responded irritably, "Didn’t you capture a prisoner? We’ll know after we ask them."

With that, discussion seemed fruitless. The priority was to ensure safety first and then figure things out slowly; there was no other option.

At that moment, Jenny’s phone rang. She answered the call while driving and soon said, "We’ve already been in operation, and the mission has failed. We are now evacuating. Okay, I understand."

After hanging up, Jenny took a deep breath and said solemnly, "Okay, no need for guesses anymore. The gold definitely wasn’t here."

"You’ve got certain information, right? So where is the gold?"

Jenny pursed her lips and remained silent. Yang Yi raised his voice, saying, "You knew all along the gold wasn’t here!"

Yang Yi was truly angered. If they had been used as bait or as cannon fodder for reconnaissance, he would be extremely angry.

"It’s not what you think."

Jenny presumably understood Yang Yi’s mood, so she had to offer an explanation.

"Our mission here failing is indirect evidence of the true location of the gold. Yes, we had doubts about the gold’s presence here before the operation, but they were just suspicions.
