Chapter 487: Chapter 475 Red Specter
Karinichenko had to succumb to the power of the dollar. Otherwise, why bother bringing Yang Yi here? He’s already taken the first step, could he pull back in time?
Yang Yi knew Karinichenko had to agree; he couldn’t refuse.
Why did they have to see the man whose bones were mostly shattered first? Why did Yang Yi insist on buying those twelve Alpha soldiers? The reason was simple: he had to let Karinichenko know that if the bearded man was unwilling to sell, there was no need for anyone else to sell, and the deal would be off.
But more importantly, the nearly dead man and those Alpha individuals were the main subjects of the trade. By buying them and adding the bearded man as a bonus, Karinichenko could earn a kickback from this transaction.
Yang Yi guessed Karinichenko wasn’t the one in charge. Could someone dealing with prisoners from the Black Prison actually accompany Yang Yi to the jail personally? Therefore, at most, Karinichenko was just a glove puppet.
If nobody bought anyone else and only bought the bearded man, Karinichenko probably wouldn’t dare to sell. But when Yang Yi tied the two deals together, telling Karinichenko it was all or nothing, Karinichenko’s thoughts changed. Moreover, when Yang Yi threw out an offer of two million, clarifying that one million was for Karinichenko, he wasn’t worried Karinichenko wouldn’t do everything to push the deal through.
Now Yang Yi could talk to the bearded man, but he knew the bearded man was closely watched. Karinichenko couldn’t even open the cell door, so if Yang Yi wanted to chat, it had to be through the bars.
The three of them stood in front of the bars, with no one around. Yang Yi cleared his throat and whispered to the bearded man, still sitting upright on the bed, "Hey, want to get out?"
The bearded man’s gaze wasn’t always vacant. Hearing Yang Yi’s words, he glanced at him and said expressionlessly, "Sure."
Yang Yi pointed at the door behind him and then at the bearded man, "Why are you locked up alone in here?"
The bearded man’s tone didn’t change, "Because they’re afraid of me. They’re scared when they see me, even more so when they don’t."
Yang Yi exhaled and said, "Come here, let’s talk. It’s not great to talk like this."
The bearded man lifted his hand, "I don’t want to move like an idiot, then lean against these bars to chat with you. If you want to come closer, then come. If you don’t want to, then it’s fine to talk like this. Anyway, almost everyone in the neighboring cells is dying."
Yang Yi thought for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."
Yang Yi took two wires out of his hair, inserted them into the keyhole, fiddled with them, and casually unlocked the cell door.
The lock on this cell was actually quite simple, really simple. The prisoners inside just couldn’t reach the lock. As for Yang Yi, having tools and access to the lock, getting in was just the touch of a hand.
Yang Yi stepped inside the cell, Brian followed right behind him, while Zhang Yong just shrugged his shoulders, folding his arms and standing by the wide-open cell door.
Yang Yi walked up to the bearded man and extended his hand, "Hello, let’s get acquainted, I’m Robot."
The bearded man shook hands with Yang Yi, his voice low, "I’m Anton Trotsky. Those who hate me call me Executioner; some call me Mad Dog, those who use me call me Ghost. Call me whatever you please."
"Ghost, why do they call you Ghost? Does it mean anything? Uh, may I sit?"
"Please sit. Why am I called Ghost? Because my name was Red Ghost, I’m an outdated remnant of the Soviet Union, later it just got shortened, and after everyone started calling me that, I got used to it."
Yang Yi sat down beside Anton and then, after a moment’s thought, he said, "Uh, it’s going to cost me two million US dollars to get you out of here, but I want to ask, what did you do before?"
Anton frowned and replied, "I should belong to the Ukraine Security Service, I guess, but I seldom came here to work. Mostly I did the dirty work for the people above, like killing people or silencing someone. That kind of job was more frequent."
"So, you were an agent for the Ukraine Security Service?"
Cocking his head and scratching his face with the hand he couldn’t quite lift, Anton said in a deep voice, "No, I was KGB, Soviet Union KGB."
After finishing, Anton resumed his normal posture and said gravely, "I was dispatched to the KGB station in Ukraine in ’91, but just two months after I arrived here, the Soviet Union was no more. The KGB station in Ukraine became the Ukraine Security Service, with mostly the same people, so I didn’t go back and stayed. I didn’t have anywhere else to go, that’s all."
"Black Devil."
Brian suddenly uttered, but Anton looked towards Brian and said, "Are you talking to me? My name is not Black Devil."
Brian shook his head and replied, "Then it wasn’t directed at you."
Yang Yi said with a smile, "Anton, which department of the KGB were you with?"
"First with the intelligence unit, then they felt I wasn’t suited for intelligence and threw me into operations."
"So, are you Russian?"
"No, I’m from the Soviet Union, born in Petrozavodsk."
Yang Yi nodded and then said with a smile, "Well, Anton, I can get you out of here, and then would you be willing to work for me? I’ll pay you, just like a regular job, and you’ll still be free. You just have to work only for me, however, and you must do as I say. Do we have a deal?"
Anton nodded and said, "Of course, of course I can. I’m about to die here, so why not if I can get out? Having a job these days is quite good, isn’t it? So I will definitely work for you continuously. Whatever matters you want to handle, leave them to me, I’ll take care of it. I’ve been getting by like this for many years, it’s good."
Yang Yi nodded and responded with a smile, "Good, then just wait a bit longer and you should be able to get out."
Just then, Karinichenko returned, and when he saw Yang Yi sitting next to Anton, he said dumbfounded, "Oh, fuck, do you want to die..."
Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "Don’t panic, buddy, we’re getting along very well. So, you made the call, right?"
Swallowing hard, Karinichenko replied cautiously, "Come outside to talk, you come out first."
Yang Yi smiled apologetically at Anton and said in a low voice, "Sorry, I have to talk to him. Please wait a moment; I think it will be settled soon."
Anton replied very calmly, "It’s alright, please go ahead. I can wait, no matter how long."
