Chapter 422 - 410 Trident

Chapter 422: Chapter 410 Trident

A retired mercenary, living alone in a forest during a winter where the sun was seldom seen, was bound to feel bored and lonely.

So Pasanin truly didn’t want the Organization of Water to just leave like that; these past few months, he’d been able to engage in the most familiar tasks, doing the work he was best at, even finding that shooting practice felt much more invigorating than when he was alone.

However, when Yang Yi mentioned that they were leaving, Pasanin didn’t say a word, but the look of loss on his face could not be hidden at all.

"Why not come with us?" Yang Yi couldn’t help suggesting. "You’re retired now, so you shouldn’t be able to say you don’t have the time, right?"

Yang Yi couldn’t help but extend the invitation, but Pasanin just smiled and shook his head, then said softly, "I won’t go. I like it here, living in the city is unbearable for me."

Brian sincerely asked Pasanin, "We need to operate as mercenaries, could you please advise us on what equipment we should purchase?"

Pasanin replied without hesitation, "Each person needs an AK47, not the 74, not the 5.45 mm caliber, but the 7.62 mm from the AK family, ideally from Russia, East Germany, Czech Republic, or Huaxia; then there are the bullets. No matter where you are, it’s best to have a large supply of your own."

Yang Yi and his group were heading to Ukraine, which was unnecessary to convey to Pasanin, but Ukraine had an abundance of firearms and ammunition, so preparing their own AKs seemed somewhat unnecessary.

Brian was an experienced veteran, but his expertise was in combat operations supported by national systems. As a mercenary, with no logistics or support, you rely on yourself for everything, which definitely requires a significant adjustment from how regular armies operate.

And Pasanin? He was one of the most experienced old mercenaries out there.

After discussing guns, Pasanin pondered for a moment and said, "Night vision equipment goes without saying—you must have the best if you can afford it. The combat environments for mercenaries are complex, often in backward and chaotic regions, facing enemies with inferior equipment. Having night vision gives you a visual advantage and can be a huge benefit. Then there’s body armor—it’s got to be the best! Heavy-duty! On the battlefield, those lightweight vests are meaningless; if possible, always wear body armor. We’ve all been saved by it more than once."

What Pasanin said was clearly important to Yang Yi and Brian, which meant his advice was somewhat superfluous.

Thinking further, Pasanin spoke up again with a serious tone, "You should also have a medic. Injuries are inevitable, and mercenaries often don’t get support. Without timely treatment, even minor wounds can be fatal, and serious injuries just mean waiting for death. But if you have your own doctor and enough medical supplies, even serious wounds may be treatable. We, Aurora, haven’t lost a member in battle, and that’s because we have four medics!"

Pasanin proudly held up four fingers, then he said loudly, "We have four of the best medics, three of whom are exceptionally skilled surgeons. They can perform major surgeries right on the battlefield, so our safety was guaranteed."

Aurora’s ascent to the top mercenary group was due to their involvement in numerous battles, and with so many battles without a single death, the medics clearly played a crucial role.

Yang Yi nodded, recalling how he had been injured and had to be left behind for the police to take him to the hospital. If they’d had an excellent doctor nearby, it’s very likely he wouldn’t have had to be handed over to the police.

"Alright, a doctor," he conceded.

Pasanin thought for a bit more, then added, "There’s not much else. Take plenty of water when heading to the desert, lots of insect repellent for the jungle, and bring a good supply of anti-heatstroke medications. Ah, those are vital, you have to bring a lot."

No sooner had he finished talking than Pasanin laughed and said, "I forgot, maybe you won’t get heatstroke that easily. Oh, and duct tape is a good thing to have—it won’t be a mistake to carry it with you."

Yang Yi nodded, then said in a serious voice, "Duct tape, I’ll remember that. We’ll also need your help arranging a plane to pick us up and leave."

Pasanin said, "Okay, I’ll call someone to pick you up. By the way, what’s the name of your mercenary group?"

Yang Yi was caught off guard by the question. It was then that he realized if they were going to mix in as mercenaries, they couldn’t use the name Organization of Water and he couldn’t even use the nickname Sea God.

"Right, we haven’t given ourselves a name yet."

Yang Yi looked at Brian and asked, "What would be a good name for our mercenary group?"

Brian was obviously stumped by the question too. After a moment he said, "Call it... I don’t know."

Yang Yi heaved a sigh and said, "Then we’d better ask everyone."

Brian scoffed, "Ask everyone? You’ll go crazy. Zhang Yong and Xiao Ran will come up with some bizarre names, so we might as well just pick any name. After all, it’s just a name to hide our identity, we won’t use it forever."

Yang Yi rested his chin in his hand and then mused, "We’re called the Organization of Water, so, how about... Arctic Fox!"

Brian nearly bit his tongue, then he snapped, "What does Organization of Water have to do with Arctic Fox?"

"Uh, I just thought of the Arctic Fox, since there are a lot of them around here..."

Just then, Pasanin smiled and said, "Sorry, we already have another name called Arctic Fox."

Yang Yi pondered for a moment and said, "Trident! My nickname is Sea God, so let’s call it Trident Mercenary Group."

Pasanin cleared his throat and said, "There was already a Trident, but it has disappeared. Most of its members died in combat and it disbanded. You can use that name if you want."

Yang Yi said in distress, "Having someone take the name you want is so annoying, but I still like the name Trident. Was this Trident famous?"

"Their strength was quite good, somewhat renowned, but quickly they were no longer viable. After many members died, they dissolved. All in all, not too famous."

Yang Yi’s nickname was Sea God, and Sea God is Poseidon, whose weapon is the trident. Therefore, he really wanted to call their mercenary group Trident. However, someone had already used the name Trident, and this Trident Mercenary Group had even met an unfortunate end, so having the name taken was a source of great annoyance.

However, Brian was indifferent and said, "Then let’s just call it Trident. What does it matter? What name isn’t already taken? Once you become the most famous one, then whenever people mention that name, they’ll be referring to you. The Trident before us didn’t make the name great, so let’s do it."

From a Western perspective on naming, having a namesake really wasn’t a big deal, and Brian was right. The previous Trident was gone, and it wasn’t very famous, so let the Organization of Water make the name great.

Yang Yi nodded and declared, "We’re called Trident. We are the Trident Mercenary Group. Sounds good, doesn’t it!"
