Chapter 406: Chapter 394 Monster
Yang Yi spent the entire day in his room assembling and disassembling those few handguns, doing nothing else.
The few who were taken out by Pasanin for adaptation training did not end up freezing outside this time; instead, they went to chop trees, using axes instead of chainsaws to fell the pines, then, after clearing the branches and leaves to leave only the trunk, they carried it back together.
With Chris absent, the number departing was just four people, two men and two women, and they needed all four to bring home a tree trunk that was over ten meters long. Pasanin didn’t care whether they carried it or dragged it; as long as they brought the tree back, it was fine.
After bringing back the felled tree, their work was still not over. Zhang Yong and the others had to chop the trunk into sections, and then split those into firewood pieces small enough to fit in the stove.
Being active meant they didn’t feel as cold, but the four of them were truly exhausted.
Dinner was not until nine o’clock at night, anyway, it was always dark outside, even when the sun was supposed to be up, because it was snowing. So, even though it wasn’t polar night, they still couldn’t see the sunlight for the entire day.
From the residential cabin to the main dining hall required ascending and descending stairs, and also walking tens of meters in the snow, so without anyone’s help, Yang Yi could only stay in his room, waiting for someone to bring him food.
By the time a group of people surged into Yang Yi’s room again, it was already ten o’clock at night.
Kate was exhausted to the limit, but she still made an effort to set up dinner and then said to Yang Yi, "Come and eat, you must be starving."
Yang Yi felt distressed and spoke softly, "You don’t need to worry about me anymore, you’re already very tired."
Kate smiled but did not speak.
Yang Yi wheeled himself to the table. At that moment, Zhang Yong lay directly on the floor and said weakly, "There’s nothing much to summarize about today’s training, just one word, exhausting!"
Xiao Ran also said faintly, "I’m in good physical shape, but that only goes to show that moving in the snow is completely different from normal, it’s so draining, ah, my hands feel like they don’t belong to me."
The snow outside was at least half a meter deep. Walking and working on thick snow naturally consumed much more energy than usual.
Yang Yi finished dinner quickly, and Brian and Paul arrived with Chris, alerted by the noise.
Chris looked like a dog.
A pet dog that had been abused by its owner.
When Chris took heavy steps into Yang Yi’s room, he seemed to see a savior, then he threw himself in front of Yang Yi, grabbing Yang Yi’s arm, and said with a trembling voice, "Boss! Save me!"
Yang Yi looked at Chris, then turned his gaze to Brian.
Chris, holding onto Yang Yi’s arm, spoke with a tearful voice, "I’d rather freeze outside, boss! I think that suits me better, please!"
Brian said in a genteel manner, "Come here."
A bullet hit Chris in the heart.
Chris let go of Yang Yi’s arm, walked towards Brian with a heart full of helplessness and fear, slowly.
"I’m pleased now that you are still considering participating in the cold climate adaptation training. It shows that you are very ambitious, which is excellent; I’m very satisfied and very optimistic about you. Very good, then starting from tomorrow you will continue the adaptation training. Our training will not be delayed."
It was like a bolt from the blue for Chris. He slightly opened his mouth, his face full of despair
Yet Chris could not refuse, he did not dare to refuse.
Brian exhaled and, looking at the peculiar crowd in the room, laughed and said, "Seems like everyone had a fulfilling day today. That’s good, training should look like training."
Brian sat on Yang Yi’s bed, then waved his hand and said, "My body can’t participate in your training for the time being, but I’m very interested in training under extreme climate conditions, so I will join you. But for now, I’d like to see the results of your training. By the way, after everyone finishes training with Pasanin, please come to my room. I’ll give you a lesson. But now..."
Turning to Yang Yi, Brian asked, "How are you doing with your training?"
Yang Yi nodded and said, "Not bad, I can give you a demonstration."
Brian smiled and said, "Good, then let me see how much progress you’ve made today."
Yang Yi wheeled back to the bed, closed his eyes, and began to disassemble the six handguns on the bed into parts.
Yang Yi piled up the parts, waved his hand over them to completely mix them up, and then casually picked up a piece.
Brian’s eyes widened in surprise, while Paul was completely dumbstruck.
Yang Yi was fast, not as fast as Paul, but still very, very fast.
After separating the parts into six piles, Yang Yi began to assemble a gun from one pile. After completing the assembly of one handgun, he set it down and immediately started on the second one.
Soon, Yang Yi had assembled all six handguns. Lastly, he picked up each gun and dry-fired them, the crisp sounds confirming that he had assembled all six guns correctly.
After finishing all this, Yang Yi turned around and said to Brian, "I’m done. I’m still slower than Paul, but this is my limit."
Paul’s mouth was slightly open as he looked at the six handguns on the bed without speaking, and Brian also stared blankly at Yang Yi.
"What’s wrong?"
Brian suddenly snapped out of it and then swallowed, saying, "Just one day, and you’ve... You weren’t looking just now, were you?"
Yang Yi shrugged and said, "Nope. Want me to do it again with my eyes covered?"
Paul picked up a handgun and said in a daze, "One day, fuck! Just one damn day..."
Brian sighed softly and said in a low voice, "It seems this wasn’t much of a challenge for you. I thought it would take you at least a month to reach this level. Even if you focused solely on this, one day still seems a bit too fast."
Paul sighed softly.
The very thing he excelled at, something he had practiced for many years to become good at, had been achieved by someone else in just one day. The sense of defeat was devastating.
Looking at Yang Yi, Paul asked quietly, "How did you do it?"
Yang Yi frowned and said, "How? It’s simple. Just remember the features of each part, take them apart in sequence, then assemble them in sequence. It’s that simple..."
Yang Yi couldn’t continue speaking; he remembered Paul hitting him.
Brian sighed, put his arm on Paul’s shoulder, and said softly, "People are different, remember that. I understand how you feel, but this is exactly the result we need. Adjust your mindset. Remember you’re dealing with a non-human, a monster, and it’ll feel much better."
Paul took a deep breath and said, "It’s okay, I’m just a bit disappointed. I’m fine, I’m really fine!"
At that moment, Pasanin suddenly interrupted, "Wait, you’re saying he did all this in one day? Is that true?"
