Chapter 277: Chapter 276: The Living God of Wealth
Italy, Milan.
Just one month short, Yang Yi’s time in the United States would have been three years, most of which he had spent in prison and the rest being chased after getting out.
His American experience was far from pleasant, so being able to leave the United States made Yang Yi extremely happy.
Extremely, extremely happy.
Only after Yang Yi had passed through immigration with a fake passport did his heart finally settle. Now, he wanted nothing more than to burst into song to express his exhilaration.
After waiting for Boer and the other two to clear immigration, Yang Yi politely said, "Mr. Stupak, this way, please."
While he was being pursued, Yang Yi could yell at Boer whenever he wanted, but ever since he knew he could leave the United States, he had been very polite to Boer.
Now that he was in Italy, Yang Yi’s courtesy towards Boer reached beyond just politeness.
Boer was a walking US Dollar, a hundred million of them.
Yang Yi escorted Boer out of the airport with great enthusiasm, scanned the surroundings, and then spotted Mike.
Mike was there waiting for them. After an excited embrace with Mike, Yang Yi turned and introduced Boer, "This is Mike, Mike, this gentleman is Mr. Stupak."
Mike shook Boer’s hand politely and said in a deep voice, "Welcome, and congratulations on escaping danger. You will be safe here."
Then Yang Yi pointed to Xiao Ran, "Xiao Ran, she saved me."
Mike bowed slightly and said, "Hello, beautiful lady, it’s a pleasure to meet you."
"This is Zhang Yong."
"Hello."
After introductions were made, the group of five walked out of the airport terminal and into the parking lot.
Mike unlocked an MPV with his remote key, but it was Yang Yi who courteously opened the door for Boer to get in first.
After getting in the car and closing the door, Yang Yi took a long breath, while Zhang Yong was the first to pick up the phone and dial a number.
After hanging up, Zhang Yong said in a grave tone, "The luggage has arrived; it’s in the parking lot, section E. We should go pick it up first."
The so-called luggage was guns: aside from a handgun and a knife, the rest were Xiao Ran’s. Although paying two hundred thousand US dollars to transport weapons was expensive, it was indeed worth it. The guns had arrived even before Yang Yi and his group landed.
Mike nodded in understanding, then drove to section E and located a car.
Zhang Yong got out of the car, exchanged a few words with the person in the other vehicle, and soon returned carrying a big bag.
Getting back into the car, he handed the bag to Xiao Ran, who was seated behind, and said sternly, "Check if it’s all correct."
Xiao Ran, looking nervous, opened the bag, then quickly relaxed and nodded, "Everything’s here. Good, no problems."
As she spoke, Xiao Ran passed a small box to Yang Yi. He opened it, took out the knife inside to place at his waist, but left the gun in the box, saying, "We don’t need guns here; keep this for me."
Xiao Ran didn’t take the box. After checking her own pistol and placing it in a women’s shoulder bag, she patted the bag gently, sighed, and said, "I need to buy another bag that’s suitable for carrying a gun."
Taking Yang Yi’s gun box and putting it back into the big bag, no one in the car spoke for a while until Mike suddenly said, "Mr. Stupak, our boss promised to escort you to Europe, and now that you are on Italian soil, we’ve fulfilled our promise. Now it’s your turn; what do you think?"
Boer didn’t respond to Mike’s question but looked at Yang Yi in surprise and exaggeratedly exclaimed, "You’re the boss?"
Yang Yi shrugged and said, "What? Surprised?"
Boer nodded, "Indeed, it is surprising. But no matter, you may not look the part, but you’ve done everything that was needed. Now it’s time for me to keep my promise. I’ll pay."
The awaited moment had arrived. Yang Yi was somewhat excited, but Mike kept his composure as he said, "Thank you, one hundred million US dollars. How would you like to make the payment?"
Boer confidently replied, "Gentlemen, I’m afraid I’ll need to trouble you to accompany me to Switzerland. As soon as I arrive in Zurich, you’ll get your money, and furthermore, I would like to propose another deal to you."
Yang Yi cleared his throat and said, "Go ahead."
Boer, with an indifferent expression, replied, "You know my current situation, so I need not explain much. I have a lot to do, and I would like to hire you for the job. So far, I’m quite satisfied with your abilities."
Yang Yi smiled and said, "Principally there’s no issue, but let’s negotiate the specifics after we get the money."
Boer nodded, "Fine. Please take me to Zurich, to the headquarters of Swiss Union Bank, thank you."
Mike nodded, then drove off.
There were many things Yang Yi wanted to discuss with Mike, and the long flight had left him very tired, but now nothing was as important as securing the one hundred million US dollars. Everything else could wait, rest could be postponed.
Their departure was in the afternoon, and the journey from Milan to Zurich was just over three hundred kilometers. Although it involved crossing The Alps, they would arrive by evening.
One can’t go to the bank at night, so Mike found a very upscale hotel. When it came time to pay, Yang Yi was profoundly shocked by the prices in Switzerland.
To entertain the walking treasure that was Boer, the accommodations had to be high-end, thus the hotel was a five-star one. Yang Yi had intended to book five of the best rooms, but after learning that even the cheapest room cost more than 900 euros, he quickly changed his mind.
Four of the cheapest rooms were booked, with Boer staying in one that cost 2200 euros per night.
It wasn’t the money he minded, but spending tens of thousands of Renminbi for just one night’s stay shook Yang Yi to the core.
After a lavish dinner in Zurich, Yang Yi courteously ushered the valuable Boer into his room.
Finally having a chance for a private chat with Mike, Yang Yi’s first question was, "How are the preparations on your end?"
Mike replied indifferently, "We’ve prepared a safe house in Paris, established a temporary foothold. That’s as far as we’ve got. There are many pressing issues to deal with, but we can’t proceed because we’re short on funds. Everything depends on whether we receive the money tomorrow, so it’s best to discuss this further then."
Yang Yi thought for a moment and said, "There shouldn’t be any problems, right? There definitely won’t be any!"
