Chapter 254: Chapter 253: Actually, It’s Not Difficult

The process was somewhat troubled, but Yang Yi successfully evaded being rammed by police cars twice, then headed straight into an underground parking garage of a shopping center.

As he drove into the passageway of the underground parking, Yang Yi felt much more settled, mainly because there were no police cars behind him, and even if there were, they were too far away to catch up, giving him room to maneuver.

Just as he drove into the underground passage and out of view from the helicopter above, Yang Yi didn’t even wait to get down to the actual garage; he stopped the car right there in the passageway.

Yang Yi parked the car, grabbed his pistol, opened the door, and got out. Almost as soon as he had stepped out of the car, another vehicle approached, ready to leave the parking garage.

Yang Yi immediately held up his gun to the car’s front, yelling, "Stop the car, open the door, this is a robbery!"

The person in the car immediately stopped, then raised their hands tremblingly.

Yang Yi went over, yanked the car door open, and yelled at Xiao Ran and Boer, "What are you waiting for? Get in!"

Xiao Ran just frowned, but Boer, with disbelief written all over his face, said, "Just like that? Your plan is too crude!"

Yang Yi pulled open the rear car door, shoved Boer in by the neck, then quickly ran to the passenger seat. Waiting for Xiao Ran to get in, he immediately said to the middle-aged woman driving, "Drive now, slowly. Act as if nothing has happened; listen, I won’t hurt you. But if you don’t do as I say, you are in danger."

After speaking, Yang Yi lay low in the passenger seat, going so far as to rest his head on the legs of the woman, who must have been over fifty, to ensure he was out of sight from anyone outside.

Boer also tried to shrink down as much as possible, but still whispered, "Is this it? Won’t we be discovered? Is this your plan?"

Yang Yi snapped, "Shut up!"

Xiao Ran elbowed Boer sharply, silencing him with pain, then watched the outside with a wary expression, pistol in hand.

The middle-aged woman who had been caught in the crossfire drove out slowly, just like a regular person about to leave a parking garage.

Actually, sometimes an escape plan is just that simple; no need for anything complex and time-consuming. A small window of opportunity is sufficient; all you need is to leave the area before the police cars arrive to seal off the place. That’s why Yang Yi chose to hijack a car and leave immediately upon entering the garage. It was hasty, but there was a good chance that both the helicopter in the sky and whoever might be pursuing them on the ground would be focused on the garage and the whole shopping center, rather than a car that had just entered and was leaving nearly at the same time.

Especially a car that was driving normally.

And the best part was, it had already paid the parking fee.

Though this method of escape couldn’t last long— at most a few minutes, at the least perhaps only a few seconds— it was enough. Yang Yi only needed to avoid the watchful eyes for a short while, just a small gap in time.

Soon after the car left the range of the shopping center, Yang Yi quickly said, "Turn here, take a right! Lady, you must have realized we’re not really robbing you. Yes, we’re a crime syndicate, we’ve killed many people, and the police are after us."

The middle-aged woman behind the wheel began to tremble more violently, and Xiao Ran said from the back, coldly, "Don’t kill her if she’s smart enough not to be killed. I don’t like to murder an innocent passerby."

Following the comment, Xiao Ran began dismantling her gun and placed it inside a large bag, then zipped it up.

Yang Yi asked in a very cold tone, "So, will you call the police? Will you report our whereabouts to them?"

The woman immediately said, "I swear to God! I will never call the police, I have children, I don’t want to die..."

As she spoke, the woman started to cry, and Yang Yi said coldly, "No crying! If she said you’ll be spared, you won’t die. Listen, you can call the police later to avoid any responsibility, but it must be an hour later. Say you were too scared to think straight, or if the police find you, you can tell them what happened but never reveal where we went. Just say we got out here and then disappeared. Understand?"

"I understand! I do! I understand!"

"Slow down and park the car. Once I get out, drive off immediately."

The middle-aged woman hurriedly parked the car by the curb as instructed by Yang Yi, then waited for his signal before slowly driving off. But as soon as she was certain it was safe and Yang Yi was far enough away, she sped off frantically.

Boer voiced his anxious concerns, "Will this work? Won’t she call the police?"

Yang Yi replied irritably, "Even if she does call the police, what of it? You think I should have really killed her?"

While they talked, Yang Yi approached a taxi and said in a deep voice, "Get in the taxi, let’s take a couple of turns around. If luck is on our side, it’ll be all clear, and soon we’ll reach Ben’s Casino Hotel."

The place they got out was chosen carefully, because it was a hotel, and hotels usually have taxis waiting at the front door.

Yang Yi told the taxi driver where to go and then got in the front passenger seat, waiting for Xiao Ran and Boer to board. The taxi driver immediately drove towards the destination Yang Yi had casually mentioned.

The taxi driver was a young black man who glanced back at them through the rearview mirror, looked at the expressionless Xiao Ran and Boer, and suddenly asked, "Hey, buddy, what happened to your face?"

Boer sheepishly replied, "Drank too much, took a spill."

The young black taxi driver laughed heartily, "It doesn’t look like a fall, man. Looks like you’ve been punched, right? Dude, playing too hard at the club always ends like this. Can I give you some advice?"

"What advice?"

Boer responded listlessly while the taxi driver said, "I know a salon that’s on the way to where you’re going. Bud, you could go there and get your face fixed up, really quick, and it won’t look so bad."

Boer retorted unenthusiastically, "Thanks for the advice, but no thanks. I don’t need..."

"No, let’s go. I think it’s a great idea," Yang Yi said.

Yang Yi looked at the taxi driver, smiling, "Let’s go to the place you mentioned. Thanks, man."

Boer’s face had to be dealt with as it was red and swollen, with the clear imprint of fingers on it. Yang Yi now regretted that his slap might have been a bit too fierce.

A visit to the salon wouldn’t take too long and would allow Boer to become less noticeable. Meanwhile, Yang Yi and Xiao Ran could also take the opportunity to change clothes and put on some makeup. So, naturally, they had to go to the salon.
