Chapter 240: Chapter 239: Possibly a Stalker

After resting for half an hour, the gambling resumed.

Yang Yi hoped to use this opportunity to infiltrate Boer’s inner circle. It might not be of use now, but it would definitely come in handy later on.

The wealthy might not need a spy in their lifetime, but a company would certainly have the chance to utilize corporate espionage. Currently, Yang Yi only had time to fabricate a profession. His lies wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny; a simple check would reveal whether his consultancy firm actually existed.

But whether the consultancy firm really existed wasn’t important. On the surface, it was a shell company with a legal facade, but its true business activities were another story altogether. Perhaps others weren’t familiar with such matters, but Boer was definitely well-acquainted and very understanding.

Because that was exactly what Boer did.

Therefore, all Yang Yi needed to do was let these people know he was in the intelligence business.

But figuring out how to convey that he dealt with intelligence required some thought. Going straight up to everyone and saying, "I’m in intelligence. If any of you want to acquire your competitors’ business secrets, feel free to consult me," would seem too frivolous.

Yang Yi decided to focus his main target and breakthrough on Boer.

The gambling restarted, and Yang Yi’s luck hadn’t improved, but Boer was faring reasonably well, consistently making small wins.

Yang Yi had planned to set up a game to help Boer turn those small wins into a big victory, but after much contemplation, he eventually abandoned the idea. He felt that what Boer needed was an opponent of equal skill, not an assistant to help him win money.

Yang Yi won some and lost some, but he could never manage to win back all that he lost. There was indeed no helping it because under the premise of similar skills, if cheating was not an option, then luck truly played a significant role.

The gambling was about to end as it was already six in the afternoon. Boer glanced at his watch and smiled, "Gentlemen, we all find it hard to make time, so I want to ask if you all are available to continue playing tonight?"

Mr. Hill shrugged his shoulders with a look of regret, "I need to relax with my wife tonight, and then we’ll head back to Los Angeles in the morning. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play tonight."

Mr. Hill couldn’t play, but the others could. Yang Yi still wanted to continue looking for Zhang Yong, but he didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity either. So of course, he agreed to continue playing that night.

It was time for dinner, and Yang Yi thought Boer and the others would just get together for a quick buffet at Caesar’s Palace, but to his surprise, each had their own plans.

After bidding each other farewell and setting the time to resume battle at 8:30 pm, everyone left. Boer turned to Yang Yi with a smile, "Mr. Yang, do you have any plans for tonight?"

"No."

"Then may I invite you and your girlfriend to join me for dinner?"

"Thank you for your generous hospitality,"

Boer smiled and gestured politely to Yang Yi.

Yang Yi followed Boer out of the casino to dine at a restaurant in Caesar’s Palace, leaving their chips on the gambling table.

Apart from Mr. Hill, who had departed, no one collected their chips.

Seated at a table in a corner of the restaurant, Boer, Yang Yi, and Xiao Ran each ordered their dishes. Then the waiter brought over an expensive bottle of red wine, poured it for the three of them, and after Boer raised his glass, he nodded to Yang Yi and Xiao Ran and sipped from his glass.

Setting down his glass, Boer smiled at Yang Yi and said, "Mr. Yang, I often organize poker games among friends, just people who enjoy playing cards. You’ve met some of them today. I was wondering if you would still be interested in partaking if there are future games?"

Yang Yi smiled and said, "Of course."

Boer let out a sigh and asked, "So how much longer will you be staying here?"

Yang Yi shrugged and replied, "Hard to say. I’ve got some things to take care of here, and tomorrow, I might switch to another casino."

Boer spoke gravely, "Is it because Caesar’s Palace doesn’t welcome you playing poker here?"

"Oh, no, I’m just looking for someone. A friend of mine is in Las Vegas, but I don’t know which casino he’s at, so I need to visit several to find him."

Boer nodded without dwelling too much on the subject since there was no need for him to ask further.

The appetizer was served, and after only a few bites, Boer suddenly said, "Mr. Yang, if you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Of course, I’m just curious; if it’s inconvenient for you, then never mind."

Yang Yi smiled and replied, "I own a consulting firm."

He had said the same thing during the poker game, but since Boer was asking again, Yang Yi decided to tell the truth.

The Organization of Water was a spy organization that dealt in intelligence, not only existing to oppose the Grey-cloaked People, so when encountering a potential client, Yang Yi was always willing to cultivate a new client relationship.

"My consulting firm offers a variety of services, such as business secrets of competitors, or anything else clients may be interested in."

After Yang Yi finished speaking with a smile, Boer’s eyebrows lifted, and he said with a laugh, "Oh, that’s interesting."

Boer was unperturbed, and just when Yang Yi thought he might not be interested, Boer calmly raised his glass and suddenly asked, "Can I consult about any matter of interest?"

Yang Yi smiled and said, "Yes, as long as it’s within our capabilities."

Looking at Yang Yi and then at Xiao Ran, Boer laughed and asked, "That sounds good, very interesting. May I ask how you charge for your services?"

With a calm face, Yang Yi said, "We charge based on the difficulty."

Boer stroked his chin, pondered for a moment, and then said gravely to Yang Yi, "A friend of mine unfortunately died in a car accident last year, but as time has passed, I increasingly feel his death may not have been so simple. How much would you charge to clarify the cause of his death?"

Yang Yi immediately shook his head, his face filled with regret as he said, "Sorry, Mr. Stupak, we are a consulting firm, not an investigation company. Looking into someone’s death, especially an accident from a year ago, would require too much manpower and effort. That’s not within our range of services."

Boer nodded with a hint of disappointment and said, "I see, that’s too bad."

Yang Yi smiled, and then he casually scanned the restaurant a few times. Lowering his voice, he said to Boer, "Mr. Stupak, I don’t have time to investigate your friend’s cause of death, but may I ask if you’re interested in finding out who’s been tracking you?"

Boer, surprised, asked, "I’m being followed?"

Yang Yi smiled and said, "I’m not quite sure yet, but I think the person who showed up at the casino last night and is here again today, and who has changed their attire and appearance to keep an eye on you, might, should, probably is following you."
