Chapter 229: Chapter 228 Gone Never to Return
Although Xiao Ran was a woman, Yang Yi found himself feeling just like he was back in his college dormitory.
It was such a wonderful feeling.
Yang Yi’s injuries had healed quite well. During these days, besides cooking him meals, Xiao Ran spent most of her time playing games, and Yang Yi would watch from the side.
At Yang Yi’s strong insistence, or more of a fervent request, Xiao Ran started playing Warcraft instead of Starcraft.
"Opponent’s playing Night Elf? Tower rush them! Take peasants and tower rush them!"
Yang Yi enjoyed watching and giving unsolicited advice, but Xiao Ran seldom did as he said; even if he was right, she wouldn’t follow through, so naturally, after a few days of playing like this, she ended up losing more than winning.
In fact, she hadn’t won a single game.
After Xiao Ran’s powerful Human forces were once again counter-pushed by the Night Elves, Yang Yi finally lost his patience, exclaiming angrily, "You idiot! I told you to tower rush, but you didn’t listen. I told you to attack, but you just had to expand your base instead. See, you lost!"
Xiao Ran retorted angrily, "Shut up! If you hadn’t been nagging the whole time, I would have won long ago. I’ve put up with you for days! Think you can do better? Go ahead, try!"
"I will! Give me a computer and let me show you how to really play Warcraft!"
Yang Yi decided to demonstrate his own strength since his right arm was now mobile again.
Without a word, Xiao Ran actually brought a laptop to Yang Yi. Li Fan had already deleted Yang Yi’s Blizzard account when Yang Yi had gone abroad, having handled things quite ruthlessly in this regard. So, now he could only play with Xiao Ran over a local area network.
Yang Yi’s main race was the Undead, and Xiao Ran stuck with the Humans. Since Yang Yi’s right arm was mobile but not very convenient yet, he decided to play tactically against Xiao Ran. He quickly aimed for a tier-three upgrade, then wiped out Xiao Ran’s heroes and troops with a squad of Destroyers, and finally used a badly injured Death Knight with two Destroyers to slaughter every last peasant in the Human base.
The Destroyers were incredibly slow at demolishing buildings, but Yang Yi just took his hero and the two Destroyers to slowly dismantle the infrastructure, gloating, "How about that? Are you convinced now?"
Xiao Ran still had an expansion, and the game was not a complete loss for her, but enraged by Yang Yi’s attitude, she decided to quit the game abruptly.
She switched to playing the Orc race, which Yang Yi narrowly won against. Then Xiao Ran tried the Night Elf race, and finally the Undead, but Yang Yi wiped them all out using his Undead.
Xiao Ran reverted to her strongest race, the Humans, while Yang Yi randomly ended up with the Human race as well. In the Human mirror match, Yang Yi employed a tower rush tactic. Taking peasants with the bell he built towers inside Xiao Ran’s base, eventually pushing her to the point where she slammed her mouse and smashed her keyboard.
Getting to her feet, Xiao Ran angrily announced, "I’m not playing anymore!"
Yang Yi heaved a sigh of relief. He hadn’t played in a long time and finding his former glory against Xiao Ran was exceptionally satisfying.
Actually, Xiao Ran played quite well, really well, but how could she compete when Yang Yi managed to be freakishly meticulous in every aspect of the game?
"You actually play quite well."
As the victor, Yang Yi didn’t mind praising his opponent a bit more, but just then, Xiao Ran said fiercely, "I see your wound is fine now, so let’s remove your stitches!"
The wound was indeed almost fully healed, and it was time to remove the stitches.
Yang Yi was stunned for a moment, as Xiao Ran had initially said they would remove the stitches tomorrow, and it was already evening now.
"Alright, let’s do it now."
Xiao Ran went to fetch the medical kit, grabbing scissors and tweezers.
Yang Yi exposed his wound.
Using the tweezers, Xiao Ran gripped the end of the thread; she gave Yang Yi a slight smile, then began to pull out the suture that had grown into his flesh.
Yang Yi immediately broke into a cold sweat.
"Stop! Wait! Why does it hurt so much?"
Xiao Ran smiled gently.
Yang Yi’s sweat poured out even more profusely as he trembled, "Are you doing this on purpose?"
With gentle but deadly composure, Xiao Ran said, "Remember when you called me crazy? What did I say then?"
"Hold on, I’m...I’m going to lie down for a bit; you’re making me wait here!"
Xiao Ran swiftly pulled out a section of sutures, smiling as she said, "That’s for your smart mouth!"
Removing sutures hurt, but it was bearable. However, if the person doing the removal was deliberately being mean, there were ways to make it hurt ten times worse.
Pushing Xiao Ran away, Yang Yi considered going to the clinic to have the sutures removed, but he couldn’t bear the loss of face. So, he clenched his teeth, determined to tough it out to the end.
After Xiao Ran had removed all the sutures from the first wound, Yang Yi took a deep breath and then asked, trembling, "Is that it?"
"For your cheekiness! For beating me..."
Xiao Ran spoke gently, smiling beautifully, but Yang Yi was in so much pain he thought his eyes would roll back in his head.
Finally, after the sutures in the second wound were removed, Yang Yi quivered, "This time it’s done, right?"
Xiao Ran gave a slight smile.
Yang Yi couldn’t help complaining, "Fuck, why are you so petty? None of the other girls I know are as petty as you!"
Xiao Ran’s expression finally changed, and Yang Yi wished he could slap himself. Then, with a piteous look, he pleaded, "I’m just joking, really! Let me off, please!"
Xiao Ran slowly said, "It would have been enough, but you just had to irritate me again!"
Yang Yi resigned himself to his fate, then felt an intense pain in his leg and couldn’t help but let out a scream.
Even when stabbed with a knife, Yang Yi hadn’t screamed; even when he poked his own wounds with a stick, he hadn’t cried out like that. But this was different from being stabbed with a knife; it was suture removal, not a life-and-death struggle. Naturally, his tolerance was not the same.
The pain was now ten times worse than before. Yang Yi was gasping for air, and he decided that since he was going to be miserable, he might as well vent his frustration verbally.
"Xiao Ran, our organization is called the Organization of Water."
"That sounds awful."
"Everyone has a code name; it’s just a nickname. You’ll need one too."
"I have one."
"I’ve thought of one for you: ’Tiger’."
"No, I’m Blade Queen!"
"Come on, Tiger sounds better."
"No way, I’m called Blade Queen."
"Blade Queen is that lady from StarCraft 2, right? No good, Tiger sounds better."
"Tiger, Tiger..."
Xiao Ran suddenly stopped what she was doing and stared at Yang Yi, "I am a woman and you call me Tiger. You’re implying that I’m a tigress!"
Yang Yi chuckled, "You finally get it, slow reaction... Ah! Ahhh!"
Xiao Ran removed the last stitch and waved the tweezers in front of Yang Yi’s face, "Don’t mess with women, especially not me!"
It was finally over, and Yang Yi didn’t want to speak anymore.
Then, Yang Yi suddenly realized that these days of boring yet beautiful life at Xiao Ran’s house were coming to an end.
While injured, he had no choice but to spend his days peacefully in her house.
But now that his wounds were almost healed and the stitches were out, it was time for him to leave, to find Zhang Yong, practice his shooting, go to Europe to eliminate the Destroyer, and immerse himself in the perilous life of a spy.
Xiao Ran also became silent suddenly.
Yang Yi exhaled and said, "Let’s start tomorrow."
Xiao Ran nodded, looked around, and then whispered, "Yeah, let’s start tomorrow."
