Chapter 217: Chapter 216 Stop Messing Around

Yang Yi felt that he didn’t have much time left.

After ending the call with Xiao Ran, he sped up, driving towards the place Xiao Ran had mentioned.

Yang Yi had described his car make and color and also disclosed his location, but he was still in the urban area, which meant he might not be able to get out of the city.

Meanwhile, Xiao Ran lived in an upscale community in the suburbs, a great distance from Yang Yi.

Yang Yi felt he might never see Xiao Ran again, but he believed he had to see her.

Yang Yi started to feel dizzy, his vision darkening for a moment so that he couldn’t see the road ahead, but the intense dizziness passed quickly, and he could continue driving.

His vision was getting blurrier, and he was starting to lose sensation in his pain-stricken body, yet Yang Yi felt increasingly cold.

Yang Yi turned on the car’s heater to warm himself up.

Just then, he glanced at the rearview mirror and saw two cars closing in at high speed.

Yang Yi slammed the accelerator to the floor.

On a road with a speed limit of forty miles per hour, Yang Yi was doing ninety, any faster and he wouldn’t be able to avoid the cars driving normally.

The two cars behind him also picked up speed, confirming to Yang Yi that they were indeed pursuing him.

Yang Yi, with his slowing brain, couldn’t understand how those wanting to kill him could find him repeatedly, considering even the police hadn’t stopped his car, yet these people managed to follow him every time.

Tapping the brake pedal, Yang Yi jerked the steering wheel, narrowly squeezing between two cars before flooring the accelerator again.

At that moment, a police car parked by the roadside suddenly flashed its lights and pulled onto the road.

"What the hell!"

Yang Yi exclaimed weakly.

The police car didn’t block his path across the road. When Yang Yi zoomed past the police car, it too joined the chase.

With two cars behind him and now a police car, in short, he couldn’t shake off his pursuers. He would either end up in police custody or in the hands of his assailants.

Choosing the lesser of two evils, Yang Yi decided on the police.

Being in police custody might afford him a chance; if he could get through to Brian, someone could come to save him. If he ended up with his attackers, it wasn’t that Yang Yi didn’t hope for rescue, he just knew he wouldn’t last that long.

Remembering the interrogation methods of that doctor he had met in the United Kingdom, Yang Yi would rather shoot himself now than fall into the hands of the pursuers.

Just then, Yang Yi’s phone rang again. He answered, put the call on speakerphone, and heard Xiao Ran’s grave voice: "I know where you are. Drive another four miles, there’s an intersection, turn right, and I’ll be waiting for you in the open space there."

Yang Yi shouted, "I’ve got people behind me, and the police!"

"It doesn’t matter, get over here!"

Xiao Ran’s tone was very firm.

Yang Yi sighed softly, glanced at the rearview mirror, and saw the two cars chasing him start to tangle with the police car.

The police car was hit at the front by a black SUV and lost control, veering off the road and finally came to rest in a ditch.

At least the police and the attackers weren’t together.

One of the two cars finally caught up to Yang Yi’s rear, and then a white sedan, without hesitation, rammed into the back of Yang Yi’s car.

Yang Yi slammed the steering wheel sharply, avoiding a collision. At such high speeds, if the rear lateral part of his car were to be hit, he would most likely lose control and roll over, and he hadn’t buckled his seatbelt yet.

His car was neither as big nor as sturdy as his pursuer’s, and Yang Yi had only one good arm to use, but he was unfazed because he trusted his driving skills.

Yang Yi pressed harder on the gas pedal. When the car behind him sped up again, hoping to sideswipe him, Yang Yi suddenly hit the brakes hard.

The white sedan failed to hit Yang Yi’s car. The driver quickly turned the wheel and hit the brakes, but at that moment, Yang Yi floored the accelerator and sped towards the white sedan, which exposed half of its body to the front of his car.

The front of Yang Yi’s car struck the rear wheel of the white car, which then immediately spun around on the road, followed by a series of rolls, ending up battered and wrecked.

Yang Yi jerked the wheel again and then floored the gas pedal, speeding straight ahead.

The white sedan’s rolls had caused the normally flowing traffic to slow down and then come to a halt. In an instant, there were no cars behind Yang Yi, as the relentless black SUV was also blocked by other vehicles on the road.

"Yes!"

Yang Yi cheered, and then he heard Xiao Ran’s loud voice through the phone, "Get ready to turn!"

Yang Yi saw the intersection, so he slammed the brakes and turned right off the highway, driving along a small path for less than five hundred meters before reaching a large open space.

There was a car on the open space, with a person standing beside it.

Yang Yi drove straight towards them, stopping less than five meters away from Xiao Ran.

Long legs, flowing hair, Xiao Ran was still beautiful, although slightly marred by the dust brought up by the car, but it did not diminish her attractiveness.

Xiao Ran immediately ran to Yang Yi’s car and yanked the door open.

Seeing Yang Yi covered in blood, Xiao Ran gasped in shock. Just as she was about to speak, Yang Yi raised his pistol.

He pointed the gun at Xiao Ran’s nose.

"Who are you?"

With a metallic taste in his mouth, Yang Yi’s words were accompanied by a buzzing in his ears, making it difficult for even himself to hear clearly.

So, Yang Yi raised his voice. Sitting in the car seat, he aimed the gun at Xiao Ran with his left hand and shouted, "Who exactly are you?"

Xiao Ran smiled gently at Yang Yi and said, "Stop it, you’re about to die."

Yang Yi coughed lightly, which caused him immense pain in the chest, making his hand involuntarily tremble.

But Yang Yi did not lower the gun. With a trembling voice, he said, "It’s because I’m about to die that I must see you, Xiao Ran. Who exactly are you? I’m not going to make it, and if you don’t give me a satisfactory answer, I’ll have to shoot you before I lose consciousness."

Xiao Ran sighed, looking back, and said, "The people behind us have caught up."

Yang Yi’s hands shook uncontrollably as he said, "Then hurry up and tell me!"

Xiao Ran’s face showed a mix of helplessness and disdain. "I told you to stop it. Honestly, you pointing a gun at me and demanding answers is quite embarrassing, you know? Firstly, you should not be pointing a gun at me, as it’s easy to be disarmed, and secondly, you didn’t even turn off the safety on your gun."

Yang Yi was taken aback, but before he could retract the gun, Xiao Ran easily took it from his hand.

It was a take, not a snatch.

After taking the gun into her own hands, Xiao Ran turned the gun side towards Yang Yi and said, "See this? This is the safety. Flip it, and then you can shoot."

Finishing her instruction, Xiao Ran turned and fired multiple shots at the approaching black SUV.

Yang Yi, now feeling angry, anxious, and embarrassed, weakly turned his head to look, and when he had reached his limit, his head finally drooped down powerless.
