Chapter 179: Chapter 178 Adaptation

Yang Yi didn’t know what exactly Brian planned to do after his release, but he was certain that Brian would definitely be up to something.

Brian had spent nearly thirty years in prison for a woman, and whether he now loved or hated her, the most important thing after getting out was certainly to find her first.

But Brian would not be satisfied with just finding that woman, for too much love and hate were involved. What exactly Brian wanted to do, and how he would do it, was something no one but himself could possibly know.

Many things a person cannot do alone. Yang Yi needed help, and his first problem to solve was the Destroyer. Although Hank and the others each had their strengths, they were only of assistance; they were no use in a real fight to the death. Bringing them to take on the Destroyer would be tantamount to suicide.

And Brian also needed help.

A person who had been in prison for nearly twenty-six years was already disconnected from society. Brian now felt alien to everything; how could he go in search of a woman he knew twenty-six years ago, and to make matters worse, this woman was KGB.

Therefore, for Brian to fulfill his wish, he had to seek help from others, whether it was to find that woman or to take care of the Destroyer for Yang Yi first, he needed to find old comrades to assist him.

Yang Yi merely suspected whether, after spending more than two decades in prison, Brian could truly find anyone willing to help him.

Hank and the others did indeed return to the hotel before nine o’clock the next morning, while Yang Yi went out to buy several cell phones and took the opportunity to visit Rodriguez in the hospital. By the time he returned to the hotel, it was already noon.

Gathering his subordinates together, Yang Yi took out four cell phones, placing each box in front of them one by one, then said solemnly, "Here are the phones and SIM cards, one for each person."

Waiting as Hank and Chris took the phone boxes with profound gratitude, Yang Yi spoke gravely, "I remind you that most of the inmates from Pelican Bay Prison have been recaptured. Those who have not yet been caught— their families and friends will inevitably be under strict surveillance. You understand this, right?"

Hank nodded, "Of course, contacting our own families now would be like telling the police our whereabouts."

Chris smiled, "I don’t have anyone to contact, so that’s not a concern for you, boss."

Gweil shrugged, "Same here, no one to contact."

Yang Yi nodded, "Good that you understand. Next, I have something to tell you. Brian and I need to leave for a while, there are some things we need to deal with. You three will stay here, take good care of Rodriguez until we return. Once your identity issues are resolved, I will take you out of Mexico."

Gweil still had a carefree look, while Chris and Hank were very puzzled but knew better than to ask questions that should not be asked.

Yang Yi took out all the Mexican Pesos he had, laid them out in front of the three, and then stated firmly, "Each of you will get fifty thousand Pesos, and in addition, two thousand US dollars each. I’ve already paid the hospital for Rodriguez’s medical expenses. This money is for your living expenses."

After finishing, Yang Yi said seriously, "You’ve put in the work, so you deserve a share of the money, but the rest I will use to sort out your identity issues, so there’s no extra money to split this time."

Even brothers settle accounts, no matter the relationship between the underlings and Yang Yi. If Yang Yi pocketed the money and his underlings gained nothing from it, one couldn’t expect them to follow him loyally. Therefore, Yang Yi made it clear that this time, taking all the money was just an exception.

Not willing to wait another minute, after explaining what needed to be said, Yang Yi left the hotel with Brian.

After leaving the hotel, Brian began to fiddle with his new mobile phone, to which he had a special interest.

Although Yang Yi had taught Brian how to make calls and was right beside him, Brian still dialed Yang Yi’s number. Waiting for Yang Yi to pick up, he said over the phone, "Hello, can you hear me?"

With the phone in his hand, Yang Yi turned to look at Brian and said helplessly, "I can hear you, I’m right beside you."

Signaling for Yang Yi to keep the phone to his ear, Brian quickly stepped away to a distance and asked over the phone, "Can you hear me clearly now?"

Yang Yi put the phone to his ear and replied with a wry smile, "Of course, I can hear you very clearly."

Brian let out a sigh and said, "Back in our day, this was the pinnacle of high-tech, mobile communication wasn’t accessible to everyone, and now almost everyone has one... a phone. It’s truly incredible. Now, I have a question. Is this thing secure? Can it be eavesdropped on? It can definitely be eavesdropped on, can’t it?"

"Yes, not only can conversations be intercepted, but people can also see all the privacy on your phone, and even locate you. Let’s put it this way, if those people wish, there’s absolutely no secrecy with this phone."

Brian sighed, hung up the phone, and then walked over to Yang Yi and said, "Just as I thought. Alright, let’s go now. We’ll avoid using the phone for things that can be discussed in person."

Yang Yi shrugged and asked, "What now, do we head straight to the United States?"

Glancing down at himself, Brian shook his head and replied, "No, first, we need to buy clothes. I need to change my image."

Yang Yi noticed that Brian was particularly enthusiastic about shopping.

Some after a long incarceration shy away from contact with others, while some prefer to be in lively places, and Brian was the latter.

Brian was interested in everything, observing this world that had become somewhat unfamiliar to him, learning and adapting to it.

Tijuana was still bustling. After walking around for a while, Brian suddenly pointed at a barbershop and declared, "I should get a haircut."

Brian now sported a sort of Mediterranean hairstyle, the middle of his hair having fallen out, leaving a ring around the sides. Yang Yi had no idea what there was left to cut.

"You planning to shave it all off?"

"Go bald?"

Brian paused, then touched the top of his head. Looking sentimental, he said, "Yeah, I’ve become a bald man. That’s really sad. I don’t want to go bald."

Taking his hand off the top of his head, Brian said gravely, "Bald is unacceptable. We’re on a tight schedule, so I have no choice but to go with a wig. Now, I need to buy a watch, a cheap one will do. Then, I’ll get some well-fitting clothes. I need to change my image. After that, we’ll look for someone who can help us sneak into the United States. That’s what we need to accomplish this afternoon."

Yang Yi immediately said, "There’s one more thing. I need to find weapons that suit me. That’s also very important."
