Chapter 174: Chapter 173: Test

Yang Yi had a good sleep, and by the time he woke up, it was already night, and he had been woken up by Brian.

Despite dozing off all afternoon, Yang Yi actually still felt unsatisfied with sleep. He yawned as he went to open the door for Brian, and he was startled to find Brian’s eyes were both red.

"Didn’t you get any sleep?"

"I did, two hours. I’m fine."

As he stepped into Yang Yi’s room, Brian whispered, "Let’s talk about how we’re going to get money first, and then let’s get to it."

Yang Yi said with some worry, "Is this too urgent? Might we be rushing things? I think we should stabilize first, it’s not too late to act after we’re ready."

Brian seemed quite dismissive, "We can’t do anything without money. Let’s get the money first; once we have enough, then we can move on to the next step. First, get your three lackeys moving, no matter what they do, at least find something for them to do."

Yang Yi whispered, "Is that really necessary? What can they do? This is a robbery, black-on-black crime. It would be better if they don’t get involved."

Brian shook his head, "Wrong, they’re your lackeys, how can they do nothing? You’re the boss. You pay to keep them, and then you go out and risk your life to rob money while they just sit idle? That isn’t right. At the very least, they need to get their hands bloody, to make them dependent on you. Who are they? Swindlers, thieves, human trash that deals in poison. If you expect them to be grateful and loyally follow you into life-or-death situations, then you’re an idiot."

Yang Yi had not planned to have Hank and his pals join the robbery. He felt dragging these guys along would be a burden, especially Gweil, a professor who couldn’t fight or run. Having him pick up a gun and square off with drug dealers would be a joke.

However, Brian had a point. Yang Yi and his lackeys certainly did not share a bond of life and death.

"Alright, you’re right, let’s do as you say."

Brian drew his handgun, removed the magazine to check the bullets, and then said in a deep voice, "Then call them over. If anyone doesn’t want to join us, I’ll take care of them right here."

Yang Yi was startled, "What did you say?"

Brian looked up at Yang Yi and whispered, "What are you even thinking? What’s the use of a lackey that won’t follow your orders? This isn’t prison anymore. You’re going to lead them through all kinds of danger. If they’re not even willing to rob drug dealers, how can you command them to do more dangerous things? Having such people around is like keeping a ticking time bomb. You have to clean it up."

Suddenly, Yang Yi felt a wave of panic inside. The thought of guarding against his own people, preparing to act against them, was something he really couldn’t accept.

Yang Yi had to overcome his own psychological barrier, and Brian didn’t rush him, just sitting on a chair waiting for Yang Yi to make a decision.

After a long time, Yang Yi finally whispered, "Okay, let’s do it!"

"Then go call them over."

Yang Yi went to knock on the doors of his lackeys one by one, gathering them all in his room. Then he said with a stern face, "We’re going to make a move tonight, planning to rob some money from a drug dealer. Everyone get ready for action."

Gweil looked surprised, pointing to his nose, and asked, "Do I have to go, too?"

Hank, on the other hand, was eager, "You name the trouble, we’re in for it."

Chris appeared somewhat anxious, but he nodded without hesitation.

Yang Yi turned to Gweil and said in a deep voice, "Yes, you also need to go."

Gweil didn’t express any reluctance, he just seemed a bit troubled as he said, "I really don’t know what I could do, but whatever you ask me to do, I’ll do it. I should be able to make myself useful. Alright, I’ll follow your orders."

Yang Yi inwardly heaved a sigh of relief, knowing at least he wouldn’t have to deal with purging his own ranks right from the start.

Brian spoke up, his voice grave, "We have five people, four handguns, so we can’t go after those large gangs with numerous and robust forces. Our targets are limited to those small gangs we can actually take down, so choosing the right target is crucial."

Hank chuckled, "Drug dealers are always loaded with cash."

Brian nodded and whispered, "The streets of Tijuana are crawling with drug dealers. We go out, get a bit away from here, find a suitable gang, then storm in, wipe everyone out, grab the money and leave. It’s that simple."

Chris, wide-eyed, stammered, "You mean to just kill people right here? And to wage war with a gang? This, this..."

Brian calmly said, "What, do you have a different opinion?"

"No, no, I just think it might be too risky, but you’re the boss, I’ll do as you say—I have no objections."

Brian looked toward Yang Yi, indicating he could give the order.

But Yang Yi had never done this sort of underworld double-cross, and in fact, he had never even robbed anyone before. To have him decide how to proceed was somewhat asking too much of him.

After a brief contemplation, Yang Yi finally said hesitantly, "We, we need to first identify a suitable target. Chris, use your skills, go onto the streets and find us a suitable mark. It’s up to you to find a robbery target from those peddling to tourists. The small-time dealers won’t have much to offer, but we can’t mess with the big gangs, so you make the call."

Chris pondered for a moment, then nodded, "I think that’s no problem, I know how to do it, I can handle it."

Yang Yi turned to Hank, "You’re coming with us. Can you shoot, do you dare to shoot?"

Hank responded without hesitation, "Of course, I can shoot. Although I’ve never killed anyone, I don’t have a problem, I’m definitely sure of it!"

Yang Yi motioned Chris to come over and said, "Give me your handgun. Gweil, you follow us, let’s set out now."

It still seemed a bit rushed, having just left prison and going to rob drug dealers, and the five of them only had one cell phone, making even making calls difficult. But Yang Yi trusted Brian, believing that with him involved, these issues were not a big problem.

Rabbits don’t eat the grass near their burrows, so they would need to strike somewhere farther away.

Yang Yi took all his money out of his wallet and facing everyone, he said, "The five of us will take two taxis. This is all the money we have left. We don’t even have enough for the taxi fare back, so we must succeed."

Chris straightened his clothes, then took a deep breath and reassured, "Don’t worry, boss, we are an elite crew, we’ll definitely succeed. We can definitely do
