Chapter 1392: Chapter 1387 Self-Imagining

Returning to the United States.

Yang Yi needed to meet with a few members of Cerberus, as they would be the main force for this operation. So, Yang Yi could give them the choice, allowing Cerberus to decide how to proceed.

He placed a hand-drawn sketch in front of Karl Stemonsen, and then Yang Yi calmly said, “Take a look at this terrain map. What method would you use to launch an attack?”

Karl looked at the map, then raised his head to Yang Yi and said, “Is this just a floor plan? It’s not meaningful.”

The map was drawn from an aerial view angle of the ground, and indeed, just looking at this map alone didn’t make much sense.

Yang Yi smiled and said, “I can tell you the surrounding terrain is wilderness, low hilly grassland, with no other buildings.”

Karl Stemonsen said without hesitation, “The first choice, of course, is to go in from the air, whether it’s helicopter landing or parachuting, aerial entry is undoubtedly the best choice.”

Yang Yi nodded and said, “Alright, aerial entry, I can provide a civilian helicopter or a fixed-wing aircraft. Which do you choose?”

Karl decisively said, “Fixed-wing, high-altitude parachute jump. In the absence of familiar pilots, I would rather choose to parachute from three thousand meters in the air than take a helicopter straight to the ground to launch an attack. However, if there’s a helicopter that can pick us up after the operation, that would be best.”

“None of this is a problem.”

Karl Stemonsen extended a finger and said, “We can parachute directly into a very precise area and then launch an attack right away, but I need more precise intelligence. For example, does the target have anti-aircraft radar? If the target has anti-aircraft radar, we’ll have to parachute into a very distant location or cancel the air entry and proceed from the ground.”

Yang Yi shrugged and said, “I don’t know yet. I’m still looking for more detailed intelligence.”

Karl nodded and said, “We do need more precise intelligence. If the target has anti-aircraft radar or even missiles, attacking from the air would be suicidal. Speed and safety, I choose the safer option.”

Cerberus is fierce, powerful, and proud, but pride doesn’t mean recklessness.

“I’ll investigate further. The reason I came to see you is to tell you we’ve found Big Ivan’s hiding place, a very accurate location. As for more precise intelligence, I believe we’ll get it soon.”

Karl immediately asked, “Can I ask if this intelligence is reliable?”

“Of course it’s reliable, very reliable. Intelligence is our main business. If it’s not reliable, what are we doing?”

Karl, with a serious expression, said, “The intelligence had better be reliable because Big Ivan is a very cunning person. Also, if the intelligence fails, many people could die, and I never want to experience operational failure due to faulty intelligence again!”

Seeing Karl Stemonsen’s bitter and grudge-ridden look, Yang Yi appropriately showed curiosity and said, “Can I know what happened to you?”

Karl took a deep breath and said, “Incompetent CIA! Shameless bureaucrats! My brothers and I suffered due to faulty intelligence and…”

Shaking his head, Karl Stemonsen, filled with frustration, said, “Due to faulty intelligence, the operation I commanded became the worst failure in Red Team history, nearly everyone died because of those incompetent fools. If the military had provided the intelligence, we wouldn’t have suffered such a painful failure.”

Yang Yi sighed and said, “I deeply sympathize, but please believe me, our intelligence is accurate, and we don’t have bureaucracy.”

Karl Stemonsen, feeling down, said, “I hope so. So when do we set off? What equipment can we get?”

“The specific time of departure will be notified. Someone will take you to the assembly point. We won’t act recklessly without accurate intelligence. As for equipment, you can give me a list, and I’ll do my best to meet your needs. If it can’t be provided, someone will explain to you until you select suitable equipment.”

Karl Stemonsen nodded and said in a deep voice, “If there’s any new intelligence, I want to be informed first. I need to determine how to act based on it. I might not be commanding this mission, but at least I want to know if someone else’s tactics are reasonable. I can’t accept acting blindly. Sorry, I know your people are excellent, but I insist on having the right to know.”

Yang Yi said with keen interest, “Oh, you can accept someone else’s command?”

Karl waved his hand, “I’m, of course, more used to being in a command role, but I know my current situation.”

Yang Yi laughed, then his smile faded, and he said, “I can give you command because of your experience, but I have one request.”

Karl was taken aback and said, “Please tell.”

Yang Yi plainly said, “In this operation, if we are to be discovered, I hope it’s you, not others.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, the biggest value I need from you in this operation, or the biggest value of your participation, is your identities. I don’t want anyone linking Big Ivan’s death to the Organization of Water, at least not in the short term. So… If anyone looks into who took out Big Ivan, I hope it’s you they trace, not the Organization of Water. At least, before it’s known you’ve joined the Organization of Water, no one would connect Big Ivan’s death to us.”

Karl Stemonsen froze for a moment, his face showing some displeasure, “Who would investigate!”

Yang Yi spread his hands, looking helpless, “The CIA, in fact, is currently monitoring Big Ivan.”

“What did you say?”

“The CIA and Big Ivan have secretly reached an agreement. I don’t know what their deal is, but Big Ivan is indeed under CIA surveillance. I just got this news. If it’s just taking out an arms dealer, there’s not much pressure. But taking out one under CIA protection, well, you know, I don’t want to oppose the United States.”

Carl raised his hand, his voice trembling, “What did you say? The CIA is protecting Big Ivan?”

“That’s right.”

Carl took a deep breath, then nodded and said in a deep voice, “I understand, I finally understand! Fuck! So that’s how it is, it’s actually like this!”

Yang Yi didn’t know what revelation Carl had, but he didn’t plan to explain it.

Finally, Carl resolutely said, “No problem, we can don’t need to disguise, we’ll let everyone know who took out Big Ivan!”
