Spy-x-War Showdown -
Chapter 1334 - 1339
Chapter 1334: Chapter 1339
Yang Yi and Anton arrived at the airport together.
The items have already been shipped out, now awaiting boarding on the ship. Brian is secretly watching over the container. Without major mishaps, that cross-like item will be transported to a certain port in Europe inside an expensive Harley motorcycle.
Yang Yi and Anton arrived at the airport at the scheduled flight time, preparing to leave the United States.
Their disguises were solid. Unless subjected to a specific and extremely detailed inspection by professional counter-spy personnel, they would absolutely not be detected.
So when entering the airport, Yang Yi felt no psychological pressure, but for the sake of caution, he still separated from Anton, entering Kennedy Airport one after the other.
The airport looked no different from usual, especially since this was just the entrance to the airport terminal. However, Yang Yi habitually observed for a long time.
Indeed, there were no abnormalities, but Yang Yi, just after Anton entered the terminal gate, felt something was slightly off.
A box that looked like a public phone had been installed at the entrance. It had no cameras or probes, no lights either. It just appeared to be a normal white box, but the issue was that this white box wasn’t there before and its sudden appearance was suspicious.
Unable to pinpoint what was wrong, but his intuition or, rather, his alertness as a spy made Yang Yi wary of all unfamiliar things.
The key thing is that Yang Yi has an extraordinary mind.
Yang Yi had never seen such equipment at any airport, so its sudden appearance at Kennedy Airport was the first anomaly. Secondly, Yang Yi didn’t know what this thing was used for, which was the second anomaly.
With Yang Yi’s mind, there are indeed many things in the world he doesn’t recognize, but something possibly used for security screening at an airport that he doesn’t recognize? That’s abnormal.
Yang Yi stopped in his tracks, watching Anton.
Anton went in. Everything seemed normal, and the white box installed on one side of the door showed no abnormalities either.
But the issue is, many devices don’t function like they do in movies.
To put it this way, why would a hidden time bomb need to display a timer? If it was an old-fashioned clock-set bomb, that might be expected, but why would a modern electronic-controlled bomb display a time, and even countdown, hinting that the person discovering the bomb has initiated a ten-second countdown?
Because such scenarios happen in movies.
Just like how in movies, when a security system detects an intrusion, there would definitely be flashing lights and blaring alarms. But whether the person who set up the security system gets notified is uncertain, while the intruder will certainly be alarmed, knowing they have been exposed.
Unless the intention is just to scare people away, otherwise, a real electronic security system would only notify the necessary persons upon detecting an intrusion.
So Yang Yi truly didn’t know what that white box was for, nor what happened after Anton went in, but he noticed that two people almost simultaneously turned their heads toward the entrance of the terminal after Anton passed through.
Two people from different positions turned their heads simultaneously, and there was another person whose expression changed slightly while watching the entrance. What does this indicate? It indicates something is wrong.
Although there was no alarm blaring with a beeping sound, Yang Yi knew something was amiss.
Yang Yi not only saw the signs, but he also already identified at least four people whose behavior seemed suspicious. So he quickly halted, pulled out his phone and pretended to check it, then acting as if making a call, he stood to one side.
Yang Yi’s actions were meant as a signal.
Anton might not have noticed the white box, but he certainly knew he was being watched.
Although unaware of where things went wrong, Anton knew definitively he was being observed. So, he subtly began preparing to run out.
Then both Yang Yi and Anton realized one thing.
Anton wasn’t the only one under focus; Anton and two others who entered almost simultaneously were being watched.
The three people who entered together were all under focus, but among them, two were innocents. This indicates one thing, that the anomaly was detected by a machine, and this machine detected something but couldn’t ascertain it precisely, thus marking anyone who just passed by as potential targets.
Yang Yi instantly made a judgment.
Radiation, what else could it be but radiation.
If it wasn’t facial recognition, nor fingerprint or iris scanning which could accurately lock onto specific targets, then it had to be methods like scent or radiation detection, and these were relatively broad methods, indicating the machine gave an alert when the three passed by, thus all three became suspects.
Anton suddenly turned around and ran outwards.
Anton made the same assessment as Yang Yi, so he had to retreat immediately.
This wasn’t a police investigation with slow and procedural examination. Once targeted, you’d definitely be contained first, and once contained, escaping would be impossible.
So realizing one has been discovered means there’s still a chance to get away if they run.
Anton sprinted away immediately, causing a chain reaction. A traveler disguised person suddenly put down their suitcase and charged towards Anton.
As he was about to rush out the door, Anton collided with the person blocking him.
Anton wasn’t armed, but the traveler was, and had already aimed the gun at Anton.
Anton reached into his pocket, pulled out something, and tossed it. He was prepared once he saw that the person stopping him didn’t wear glasses.
"Ah..."
The armed person screamed in agony; what Anton threw was a type of plastic pellet, small but absolutely not smooth, having ridges and edges. Only under a magnifying glass can it be seen as a highly vicious item. Once tossed into the eyes, the natural instinct to blink would cause a big mess.
The person blocking Anton shouted with closed eyes. As Anton ran past him, he snatched away the handgun with a deft move.
Without dealing with the screaming person, Anton turned around and fired two shots at the two pursuers.
One shot for each, then Anton continued running out, while Yang Yi timely screamed and fled in different directions with other passengers.
"That’s him! Catch him!"
Someone shouted while pointing at Anton. The voice wasn’t loud, but through radio, it was unknown how many people were already approaching Anton.
Neither Anton nor Yang Yi knew the orders given to capture Anton, but Yang Yi felt the situation wasn’t looking good.
Many people began to rush in, and among them, two were holding the same kind of white box.
These are detectors. Yang Yi’s expression didn’t change, but his heart was racing. If Anton was detected by such a device, then needless to say, he would also meet the same fate.
Moreover, at this moment, those aiming to capture Anton won’t worry about collateral damage. If they can shoot, they definitely will shoot.
