Chapter 1329: Chapter 1334 No Need to Explain

Aaron’s gaze had already begun to blur, his pupils unable to focus, and his grip on Yang Yi’s hand was weakening, but he still struggled to speak: "I can only entrust you with this; you must deliver this to the Grey-cloaked People. This is the key to victory. Whoever gets it will achieve the ultimate victory..."

Yang Yi’s first reaction was to doubt Aaron’s words, because he knew this item was sent out by the cleaner in the first place. So, if this is the key to victory, then why did the cleaner send it out?

Could it be that the cleaner really plans to use this thing as bait to draw out and eliminate the important figures of the Grey-cloaked People one by one?

No, the cleaner had long known Aaron’s identity, so the cleaner just wanted to eliminate Aaron; there was no need to set this trap.

Yang Yi had no time to think further. He urgently asked, "At least tell me what this thing is! I’m just curious now!"

Aaron was exhaling more than inhaling, and he mumbled, "It’s an energy source, an energy block, it’s the key... the key to humanity’s... future..."

Aaron died, right in front of Yang Yi.

Seeing Aaron’s wide-open eyes, Yang Yi didn’t know how to feel. The old man he had been desperately trying to deal with, died so suddenly and unexpectedly.

Yang Yi understood why the cleaner did this. It was simple: as long as Aaron was alive, he couldn’t immediately access the conference core, but with Aaron dead, he could directly reach the core secrets of the Grey-cloaked People, plainly and undoubtedly.

Yang Yi’s feelings were complicated, extremely complicated.

Brian desperately wanted to eliminate Aaron, and the CIA wanted to investigate this KGB mole internally, but Aaron had given Yang Yi many things, many benefits, and even trust.

Being a mole isn’t easy, unless one is truly heartless and emotionless.

Yang Yi was somewhat saddened.

Aaron only brought two people, one was his aide, who was now dead, and the other was the pilot.

The pilot had not taken off. It was only after seeing Aaron lying motionless on the ground that he finally attempted to fly the helicopter. But just as the helicopter lifted off the ground, it immediately exploded, turning into a fireball less than ten meters above the ground.

Yang Yi wasn’t too concerned for his own safety because he knew this was the cleaner’s setup.

So Yang Yi looked at Reggie, who now appeared calm.

"Cleaner?"

Reggie was pinned on the ground, and he was the only survivor. Yang Yi was torn about whether to release Reggie, but given the cleaner’s consistent policy of ruthlessness towards both enemies and allies, he thought Reggie might not survive.

Luckily, besides Reggie, there were no other living people around now.

"The Grey-cloaked People took orders from Aaron, but before I joined them, I was a cleaner."

Reggie looked desperate, yet he remained calm.

There’s no need for much explanation, because with Reggie’s role, the cleaner could, of course, track Yang Yi’s whereabouts at all times. Aaron also knew that Reggie was a mole, but whether he knew it or not didn’t matter; perhaps Aaron hinted at that in his last words.

Grevatov frowned and released his foot.

Reggie sat up, reached into his pants, and pulled out a small locator, placing it on the ground. Then he whispered, "Only location, no voice transmission, because it could be detected."

"Can you give me an explanation?"

Yang Yi frowned and asked, and after a sigh, Reggie shook his head, "I don’t know much. I only know you’re important. For the cleaner, the hardest thing was gaining the Grey-cloaked People’s trust, high enough trust, but now it seems only you have reached this condition."

Reggie paused for a moment, then whispered, "There’s no time. This time, you’re in really big trouble. The CIA, Homeland Security, FBI, the United States government, the Grey-cloaked People, they all want to catch you."

"You all..."

Yang Yi said resentfully, but he didn’t continue.

The cleaner played him hard, but what’s the point of complaining now?

Reggie looked at Yang Yi calmly, sighed, and then whispered, "Sea God, or rather, Yang Yi, I... have nothing more to say. I’m doomed, and you must escape. You might fail, and if you do, the cleaner will reclaim everything. But if you succeed, then... it’s all worth it."

Yang Yi waved a hand and said, "I won’t kill you; you don’t have to die."

Reggie shook his head and whispered, "No, I must die, and it has to be you who does it. Actually... I don’t want to die, I really don’t want to die, but I have to."

Reggie began to cry. He urgently pleaded again, "You really don’t have time. I’m just a disposable pawn. I can only die. Please shoot me quickly; don’t let me suffer."

"Fuck, fuck! Cleaner, fuck!"

Yang Yi gritted his teeth, picked up Reggie’s handgun, and aimed it at Reggie’s head.

Tried to pull the trigger but couldn’t bring himself to it.

Reggie looked at Yang Yi helplessly, then suddenly whispered, "Yang Yi."

"Yeah."

"Don’t trust anyone!"

After Reggie said that, he hesitated briefly and whispered again, "Don’t trust anyone. You’re smart; you’ll understand."

Yang Yi sighed and whispered, "Run."

"There’s nowhere to run; no place to escape. Shoot, there’s really no time. Please, aim on..."

Reggie closed his eyes before he finished speaking, and Grevatov, who was beside him, suddenly fired, hitting Reggie in the back of the head, killing him instantly.

Grevatov put away his gun and whispered, "Escape."

Yang Yi stared blankly at Grevatov, who whispered, "You should run for your life. I’ve been dragged into what seems to be a huge conspiracy. I hope I can get out, and now I don’t need to help you explain anything to Aaron."

Yang Yi whispered, "Yes, no explanation needed."

Grevatov continued in a low voice, "The cleaner is dangerous, the Grey-cloaked People are dangerous—good luck. If you need help, we will aid you because we owe you a debt. But now you need to flee. I think it’s best not to overuse our favors; having one more person to protect you doesn’t add much value."

Yang Yi exhaled and whispered, "Yes, I don’t need your help."

"Stay in touch and good luck. Reach out if you have needs at any time."

After Grevatov finished speaking, he glanced toward the wooded area where the shots were fired and then said, "Are you taking a car to leave?"

"Yes."

"The helicopter was shot down by an anti-tank missile, not an anti-aircraft missile. They can destroy your car, but it seems the cleaner won’t do that. So, give me a lift and drop me off somewhere, okay?"

Yang Yi sighed and said, "Get in, let’s go!"
