Chapter 1284: Chapter 1289: Still Have to Do It Myself
The janitor hadn’t made a move yet, and the Grey-cloaked People’s backup was about to arrive. The meeting time with Baghdadi was approaching. So, would Satan launch an attack?
These matters troubled Yang Yi, but if he had to prioritize them, Satan’s issue would definitely be last. This meant he could forgo the meeting with Baghdadi.
"Have you contacted Tartar?"
Anton shook his head and whispered, "I have. His response is that Satan will come."
Yang Yi scratched his head and said helplessly, "Is Satan’s desire for revenge that strong? Have we figured out Satan’s mode of attack? It’s not going to be a bomb, is it?"
"No, precise attack, a beheading strike."
Yang Yi clicked his tongue and said, "Although I’m curious, I still don’t want to be attacked along with Baghdadi. Who knows what might happen? So, has the time of Satan’s attack been determined?"
"We can’t be sure."
In special operations, intelligence reigns supreme.
Yang Yi also felt troubled. He hadn’t expected Satan was determined to take down Baghdadi in Mosul, ISIS’s stronghold, making his situation quite awkward.
"If Baghdadi gets taken out during our meeting, no matter what, we’ll be implicated."
"Even if we’re not there, the leakage of Baghdadi’s location will still be linked to us; suspicion is inevitable."
Yang Yi scratched his head and said to Anton, "Contact Tartar and see how to solve this issue. First and foremost, I don’t want to be caught in the crossfire. If they can’t guarantee that, then we can’t ensure the accuracy of the intelligence."
Anton nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll contact him immediately."
Yang Yi said to Anton, "I know you must find it tough, but you need to understand, this is a problem between Satan and the Black Devil, not our problem. If they can’t ensure our safety, then naturally we can’t guarantee the authenticity of the intelligence."
Anton whispered, "I’ll contact him immediately."
Just then, Yang Yi’s phone rang. He checked his watch; it was half-past six in the afternoon.
"I don’t know whose call this is; hold on a moment."
Yang Yi answered the phone and said, "Who is this?"
"Hello, I am ordered to pick you up; we are heading to rendezvous with you."
The support personnel had arrived, and they actively contacted Yang Yi. The timing was quite on the dot, neither too early nor too late, making it utterly discomforting.
Yang Yi nodded at Anton, then said in a deep voice, "Alright, come find me."
After hanging up the phone, Yang Yi whispered, "They know my location."
"Very normal, they must have obtained your location information from either ISIS or Azar."
Yang Yi sighed and said, "The instruction Aaron gave me was to leave Mosul with them immediately without shutting anything down, should the situation ... hmm, change."
"What about Tartar’s side?"
"Notify him at once, saying that things might change, but it’s still uncertain."
Anton immediately went to contact Tartar, and Yang Yi waited not long, only about ten minutes, before someone came for him.
A man in his thirties, dressed in tactical gear, not appearing particularly brutish, but clearly a battle-hardened veteran.
"Hello, Dawson."
"Sea God."
Dawson briefly introduced himself, then whispered, "Where’s the item?"
Yang Yi looked towards the bed behind him, pointed at the backpack tossed there, and said, "It’s right there. When do we leave?"
"Around eight, after dark, we’ll leave by helicopter."
Meeting Baghdadi at half-past eight meant they had to leave around eight. The timing was indeed uncomfortable.
Yang Yi pondered for a moment and said, "Can we push it back to nine?"
"Sorry, I am ordered to protect you and take your commands, but also instructed to leave as soon as I meet you. So if you want to postpone, you’ll need approval, or you can give me the item, and I’ll leave with my men."
Yang Yi nodded and asked softly, "Where are your men?"
"Just outside, a total of ten people."
"Wasn’t it fourteen people?"
"Four have other tasks; they are not combat personnel and can’t assist in covering your withdrawal, so it’s just ten people."
"Okay, I’ll leave with you, so when will the aircraft arrive?"
"Around eight, but I can’t guarantee a precise time."
"Alright, we’ll set out later. Please wait a moment while I arrange some matters."
Dawson left, and Yang Yi called Anton in. Anton gestured to him and then whispered, "What to do? The timing conflicts."
Yang Yi whispered, "I can go, but the item must remain with me."
"Understood. And Baghdadi’s side?"
Yang Yi sighed and said, "You stay for the meeting, and if it can’t proceed, then so be it."
"Understood."
Brian had already positioned Pandora Box’s team outside, under the pretense of protecting Yang Yi.
Yang Yi checked his watch and said, "Get Reggie over here; since we’re leaving, there’s no need to avoid him anymore."
Reggie was called over, leaving only Anton and Reggie by Yang Yi’s side.
Time flew by, and soon it was already 7:40. By this time, the sky was completely dark.
Dawson finally knocked on Yang Yi’s door again.
"Sir, we should leave now; the helicopter is about to land."
Yang Yi stood up, picked up the backpack, and said, "Alright, let’s go."
Dawson reached out his hand and whispered, "Can I check it?"
Yang Yi certainly knew what Dawson wanted to see. He silently unzipped the backpack, took out the cross, and then put it back.
Dawson immediately spoke into his walkie-talkie, "Confirmed, the item is here. We’re moving out, all units provide protection, over."
After speaking, Dawson extended his hand to Yang Yi again and said, "Sir, for your safety, may I carry the bag for you? I’ll return it once the plane is airborne."
Yang Yi shrugged and then handed the backpack to Dawson with a smile and said, "Sure, I’d be glad to lighten my load a bit."
Dawson seemed a bit excited as he slung the bag over his back and then spoke into his walkie-talkie again, "We’re moving out, item is on me, keep it protected, over."
Dawson took the lead, with Yang Yi and Reggie following behind out of the room. As they exited, two individuals in tactical gear promptly led the way in front.
Yang Yi remained calm, whereas Reggie appeared a bit bewildered and said, "Are we leaving now?"
"Yes, now. We’re in a precarious position, and an attack could happen at any moment, so stick close and be cautious."
As they stepped outside, more people were waiting. Dawson waved his hand and then whispered to Yang Yi, "Let’s get in the car."
There was still no sign of an attack from the janitor. Since the janitor hadn’t acted, they had to resort to doing it themselves.
