Chapter 1188: Chapter 1193: Chain of Evidence

Yang Yi walked briskly toward the CIA headquarters building, swiping his credentials and smoothly proceeding to Aaron’s office.

After waiting twenty minutes, Yang Yi finally entered Aaron’s office after the previous visitor left.

"Good morning, sir."

Yang Yi gave a respectful half bow to Aaron, then solemnly stood before Aaron’s desk. Talon offered Yang Yi an encouraging smile and gestured with his hand, saying, "Please have a seat."

Yang Yi sat down. Aaron, fiddling with a pencil in his hand, smiled and said, "Is there a particular reason for your sudden request to see me?"

"Yes, sir. I’ve found some traces of the Satan Mercenary Group."

Yang Yi took a photo out of his briefcase and respectfully handed it to Aaron. He then said in a low voice, "This person should be a member of the Satan Mercenary Group. We captured this in Europe."

Yang Yi couldn’t directly declare Tyler as part of Satan and then monitor him immediately. The process needed to be more intricate—he had to provide a complete chain of evidence.

There had to be a reason for suspecting Tyler’s connection to Satan, and Yang Yi needed to present that to Aaron. He certainly couldn’t say it was based on information given by a cleaner, could he?

"How was this photo obtained?"

Yang Yi smiled faintly and spoke in a low voice, "It was taken in Italy. This is the only remaining photo, and though the image captures only half his face, it’s very clear. Moreover, this is a photo without his hood. Less than four minutes after the photo was taken, he put on a hood, retrieved his gun, and participated in the attack on Cicero family members during a battle."

Aaron placed the photo on the table and remarked curiously, "The Cicero Family’s internal conflict involved multiple factions. What makes you think he’s with Satan and not just anyone else?"

Yang Yi spoke in a grave tone, "I can’t be entirely certain, but what I do know is that among his comrades, there was one..."

Suddenly, Yang Yi stopped speaking. Aaron, still intrigued, prompted, "Go on."

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yi shook his head and said, "Alright. If I continue, you’ll think I’m being insincere. I might as well be honest—I’ve been involved in the Cicero Family’s internal war!"

Aaron raised his eyebrows with a slight smirk, "You were involved?"

Yang Yi nodded and spoke in a low voice, "My team performed well enough. I’ve had ties with Justin for a long time. As you know, my business in Europe revolves around intelligence operations. It’s inevitable to have contact with the Cicero Family. Fortunately, I have a good personal relationship with Justin, and our collaboration has been quite smooth. So, I got involved in the Cicero Family’s internal war."

"Continue."

"I provided protection for Justin."

Aaron smiled, "Congratulations! You backed the right side. Justin’s victory will benefit your intelligence business in Europe greatly."

Yang Yi continued calmly, "I didn’t directly participate in the battle, but I acted as Justin’s hidden card and was essentially involved in the entirety of the Cicero Family’s internal conflict. Additionally, Justin hired Satan."

Aaron said indifferently, "Wasn’t the whole affair triggered by Mario’s detention of Gong Yang?"

Yang Yi looked surprised and said, "You’re aware of mercenary-related matters in Europe?"

Aaron smiled, "Because of Big Ivan, you always need to keep an eye on things. Go on."

Yang Yi spoke in a low voice, "Justin is extremely cautious about Satan, as well as Big Ivan, because he’s worried about being sidelined. So our responsibilities included protecting Justin while being prepared for confrontations with Satan and Big Ivan. Ultimately, the outcome was favorable—Satan received their payment and didn’t attempt to control Justin. Of course, this was thanks to our timely intervention, leaving Satan convinced they couldn’t control Justin."

"Common enough in such matters. Continue."

"Justin doesn’t dare to betray Satan’s intelligence. You tasked me with gathering information on Satan, but the problem is that this conflict can be described as a war between Mario and Big Ivan. Justin has no input or authority over them, so despite looking for opportunities, he hasn’t obtained truly useful intelligence."

Yang Yi gestured toward the photo and said in a low voice, "Until this time, my team captured video footage with a recorder. However, when the battle started, we couldn’t record further without compromising ourselves."

If Aaron pursued the finer details, Yang Yi was prepared to fabricate responses. But Aaron did not pursue further and instead asked curiously, "And then?"

Yang Yi pressed his lips together and said, "Justin refused to give me any information about Satan, fearing retaliation. However, one of my subordinates recognized this individual. His nickname is Dove; he’s from the United States and was once a member of the U.S. Air Force."

Aaron examined the photo and nodded, "Oh. With that, plenty of information can be uncovered. Do you have anything else to tell me?"

Yang Yi hesitated for a moment, then said, "No, sir. Now, I’d like to request your authorization to obtain data on this individual. I need permission to access Air Force records."

Aaron frowned and said, "You don’t even have his name; this could be a substantial workload."

Yang Yi immediately replied, "Actually, the workload isn’t overwhelming. This individual is from the Air Force Combat Control Team, retired within the past three years, with a distinctive profile. The number of candidates to review isn’t vast, is it?"

Aaron said casually, "Alright. It’s a promising lead; I’ll assign someone to investigate."

Pausing briefly, Yang Yi spoke in a low voice, "Can I handle it personally, sir? This is an opportunity for me—it’s my case, my lead, and I naturally want to follow through."

Aaron said nothing in response but contemplated the photo for a long while before sliding it back toward Yang Yi, saying, "It’s yours. I’ll grant you the authorization."

Yang Yi smiled and retrieved the photo, speaking in a solemn voice, "Thank you, sir."

Aaron smiled and said, "Your work in Europe should be relatively smooth. Do you have any plans?"

"Plans? I’m not entirely sure what you mean, sir."

"You’ve done well, and the conditions are favorable. Perhaps you should consider establishing another operational post in Europe under your leadership."

After speaking, Aaron added casually, "Your rank also deserves a promotion. Moreover, your close personal relationship with Justin is crucial. The Satan mission is highly significant—if you excel, a promotion and pay raise are practically guaranteed."

Yang Yi didn’t appear overly excited but solemnly replied, "Thank you, sir. I won’t disappoint you."

Aaron picked up the pencil and turned it twice before speaking softly, "You can take charge of recruiting subordinates yourself. I’ll grant them official CIA agent statuses."

This meant Yang Yi could bring his entire team into the CIA—a far better condition than simply organizing a new operational post on his own.

As a result, Yang Yi immediately raised his voice and said in a solemn tone, "Thank you, sir!"
