Chapter 1091: Chapter 1096: Ironclad Evidence

Living in the farmhouse that A helped to find, Aaron would naturally know Yang Yi’s location.

So, on the second morning after Yang Yi moved into the farmhouse, while he was having breakfast, a stranger placed a folder on his dining table.

"This is for you."

After placing the folder down, the man who delivered it said with a stern face, "This is evidence."

Yang Yi, made somewhat paranoid by Cupid’s ruse, was immediately relieved.

Having Aaron look for evidence, the speed was quite good. It was delivered in just two days, quite efficient.

Yang Yi opened the folder and pulled out a stack of papers, all paper documents, not photos; there were no pictures in the entire file, only lists of financial transactions between bank accounts.

The most direct evidence would of course be photos or videos, but the chance of Nicholas being caught on camera or recorded while doing something secretive was almost nil, even Aaron couldn’t obtain such evidence.

However, it was unclear how a bank statement could prove that Nicholas was the mastermind behind Ivan’s assassination.

Yang Yi looked closely; the financial transactions weren’t too large, always in the hundreds of thousands of US Dollars. The only unusual transaction was just ten million US Dollars.

Just looking at the records of the financial transactions was somewhat perplexing, but besides those records, there was another piece of material.

There were a total of seven accounts, five of which belonged to a Colombian drug lord, and the other two belonged to Nicholas, as clearly noted in the documents.

Nicholas had a longstanding cooperation with this drug lord, although the transaction amounts were not too large, because a drug lord certainly needs weapons, but not too many. Yet this money was paid by Nicholas to the drug lord, not the other way around.

But the problem is, these alone are not enough. What does the financial transaction between a drug lord and an arms dealer prove?

But as he continued to look further, valuable evidence appeared.

The reason why that drug lord dared to move against Ivan was because he was incited by Nicholas. The reason why Nicholas dared to make a move against Ivan behind Deyo’s back, was because he received instructions from the CIA.

So, the only valuable evidence was a personal file, the kind with a photo, and the person in the file was an agent who contacted Nicholas and directly conveyed CIA’s intentions.

Aaron directly dug out the root of Nicholas’s problems, because he had the most originative intelligence.

Why did the CIA want to move against Big Ivan? Because he was harming the interests of the United States.

So why did the CIA want Deyo to be the front man and start a fight with Big Ivan? It was because the United States thought it was time to replace Deyo with someone they deemed more suitable, Nicholas.

Therefore, Aaron gave an order to his subordinates to provoke a storm through Nicholas, a storm that would inevitably lead to a fight between Deyo and Big Ivan, with absolutely no room for reconciliation.

But this plan failed, why? Because Ivan didn’t die, miraculously he was saved by someone.

Thus, the CIA’s first move against Big Ivan failed and was aborted, but the CIA didn’t wait long before they launched an attack against Big Ivan.

Because the CIA couldn’t wait, the plan was discarded.

How did Yang Yi know all this? Because in addition to a personal file, there were two other papers that detailed the ins and outs.

But these were still not solid enough evidence; the solid evidence was a chip with a recorded conversation, but Yang Yi did not see that chip.

Yang Yi was annoyed by whoever carelessly tossed such crucial evidence as the unprotected memory card into the file bag.

It wasn’t until then that Yang Yi realized, all the bank transaction records, all the information about the agents who made contact with Nicholas, those were just scrap papers used to bulk up the file. If you say they are useful, they are somewhat useful, but if you say they aren’t, they really are of no use at all.

What’s truly valuable is this memory card.

What’s on the memory card?

There’s a recording on the memory card, a recording of the former CIA Director.

A recording of the former CIA Director briefing the agent who was in contact with Nicholas in person.

Interesting, very interesting indeed.

Why would Aaron have a recording of the Director discussing with his subordinate? Was he surveilling the CIA Director?

Yang Yi felt that just with these pieces of evidence in his hands, evidences that were supposed to be provided to Ivan or Big Ivan, if he handed them over to Porter, Aaron would be in big trouble.

Furthermore, why would Aaron dare to hand over such sensitive material to him?

Also,

Why did the CIA go after Big Ivan? Is it really just because Big Ivan posed a threat to the security of the United States?

One thing to understand is that Big Ivan is the biggest arms dealer, but he’s not the only one. As long as there is demand in the world, there will always be someone who can provide arms. Even if the CIA took down Big Ivan, it would only transform one major arms dealer into many smaller ones to meet the market.

Therefore, it is nonsense that the CIA went after Big Ivan simply because he trafficked in arms, as Big Ivan would never infringe upon the interests of the United States or the CIA. It would be madness for Big Ivan to dig his own grave like that.

So, why did the CIA go after Big Ivan? Why could Aaron produce this piece of evidence, and moreover, why was he willing to present it?

It is puzzling, truly puzzling.

Yang Yi looked at the file for a full ten minutes before he finally put it back into the bag.

Now Yang Yi understood that the evidence Aaron gave him was not really for making Ivan believe it was Nicholas who was secretly trying to harm him, it felt rather like it provided an explanation to Big Ivan on why they had moved against him.

Why though?

Aaron and Big Ivan definitely knew more about the inside story, so they could see certain things and understand what really happened. But Yang Yi couldn’t. The intelligence he had was too little; just seeing these, he couldn’t deduce anything.

Yang Yi finally picked up the file bag and returned to the room with Kate and Bonnie, who had joined him for breakfast.

Upon entering the room, Yang Yi handed the file bag directly to Bonnie.

No need to speak, nor explain anything. Bonnie would naturally read it.

Bonnie reads the files and Yang Yi watches Bonnie. He figured Bonnie probably didn’t know too much, so observing her expressions likely wouldn’t yield any useful information.

However, after Bonnie finished reading the files and returned them to Yang Yi with a calm face, Yang Yi understood something - Bonnie knew a lot, much more than he had thought.

Bonnie’s demeanor was too calm. After seeing information that was certainly surprising, at the very least should have piqued extreme curiosity, Bonnie shouldn’t have been so composed. Therefore, she was either completely uninterested in this matter, or she was trying to conceal something.
