Chapter 1076: Chapter 1081: Putting on an Act for the Occasion.

After waiting for Xiao Ran to open the door for him, Yang Yi left her room in his electric wheelchair.

Feeling kind of dazed.

The anticipated storm never came; not even a hint of sarcasm. It wasn’t quite a breakup, but it also didn’t seem like things could just return to normal so easily. Yang Yi really couldn’t believe it was that simple.

Although it was about making things clear and defining their respective positions, this conclusion was just too uneventful.

Yang Yi would have preferred Xiao Ran to scold or even hit him. It would have been acceptable for her to threaten him at gunpoint, but this uneventful ending made him suspect it couldn’t be that simple.

Kate looked tense and expectant. When she saw Yang Yi, she cautiously asked, "Did you say it?"

"I did, everything’s been made clear."

"Is she... okay?"

Yang Yi nodded and said, "She’s fine, she’s very well. This day was bound to come, and I think she was prepared for it."

Kate was stunned for a moment, then let out a gentle sigh of relief. She placed her hand on Yang Yi’s arm and whispered, "Does it hurt?"

"No, it doesn’t hurt."

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have treated you like that just now, um, do you want to eat something?"

"Not hungry."

"Then you must be tired, right? Let me carry you to bed to rest."

Yang Yi made a face and said, "It’s just an injured leg, I can get to bed just fine, oh, I get it now..."

Seeing Yang Yi start to smirk, Kate was startled briefly before tweaking his arm and saying, "Stop it! That’s not what I meant, I’m just worried you’re tired and thought you should get some sleep."

Things that were embarrassing to say out loud before now seem to flow out so easily.

Yang Yi, with a grin, put his hand on Kate’s waist, then struggled to stand up, wrapped his arm around her neck, and kissed her intensely.

After a long while, Kate didn’t push Yang Yi away, but instead whispered softly, "I’ve finally waited for this day."

Yang Yi just laughed happily, but Kate whispered, "Do you need to go to the bathroom? I’ll take you."

"Uh, no need, I can manage on my own."

Kate scooped Yang Yi up in a horizontal carry and with a smile said, "No, I’ve waited too long for this day, and finally, it’s come..."

What’s it like to have a girlfriend with strong fighting ability?

The answer is you can’t win against her.

Luckily, Kate just carried Yang Yi to the bathroom and then back again, princess-style, since they hadn’t taken the final step yet and she was still somewhat shy.

Xiao Ran came out looking totally fine, saying to Yang Yi, "I’m going to find Anna; we’re heading to Italy together. Now it’s just the two of you left to deal with Bonnie, so be careful, Kate. Make sure no one runs off with your boyfriend."

Xiao Ran seemed perfectly normal and was even in the mood to joke, while Kate simply nodded and smiled, "I will, and I trust he won’t be led away by anyone."

No hostility, no threat in the air.

But for some reason, Yang Yi always felt a chill in his back.

Well, facing each other every day isn’t a solution, better to let Kate go with Annastasia and the others. It’ll save everyone from the awkwardness.

Xiao Ran waved towards Yang Yi and Kate and then nonchalantly walked away, while Yang Yi didn’t stop her.

Actually, even if he wanted to stop her, what could Yang Yi say, right?

All the combatants went to Italy to back up Justin, and even those who aren’t combatants have to return to their posts to fully coordinate. Plus, no one wanted to stay and be a third wheel, so the small house was soon left with only Yang Yi and Kate.

"Is it safe here?"

"Very safe."

Yang Yi seemed troubled as he waved his hand towards Kate and said, "There’s another problem we need to solve—Bonnie... what do we do with her?"

Having Bonnie by his side all the time wasn’t appropriate, but neglecting her was definitely out of the question.

Moreover, Yang Yi felt genuinely sorry for Bonnie, along with some inexplicable emotions; he didn’t want to wrong Kate, but Bonnie’s special status left him at a loss for an appropriate arrangement.

Kate fell silent. After pondering for a moment, she spoke softly, "We can’t distance ourselves from her, but you are not allowed to get too close to her, or I won’t be able to stand it. Here’s what we’ll do!"

Kate looked determined, "I’ll go and be friends with her. She’s smart—she’ll pretend not to know I dislike her, and we can certainly pretend to be really good friends. That way, it won’t be too awkward when we’re all together."

So tiring.

But what can you do? In this game, everyone is helpless. Not considering the big picture isn’t just about showing one’s true colors; it could lead to death, and a lot of it.

So, although Kate’s solution seemed ridiculous, it appeared quite effective.

Yang Yi let out a sigh and said, "I’m sorry to trouble you, go invite Bonnie over."

Kate kissed Yang Yi’s face and then she whispered, "It’s just pretend friendship. I’ll go call her over; give me a moment."

Bonnie had come with Yang Yi and Anton, but unlike them, she hadn’t been invited into the Organization of Water’s safe house. Sensibly, she stayed in the central park outside, keeping a distance for everyone’s benefit.

Bonnie was sitting on a park bench, quietly observing the not-so-pretty central park when Kate approached her and said with a smile, "Hello, you must be Bonnie, right?"

Bonnie looked back, stood up, and responded with a smile, "Hello."

Kate smiled, "I’m Yang Yi’s girlfriend. I’m really happy you’re here. Now, please come with me. Is this your first time in Paris?"

"Oh, yes, my first time here. Are there any fun places?"

"It’s alright, Paris has many nice places to visit. But we should also avoid some areas—they’re dirty, messy, and unsafe. I’m quite familiar with this place, I could be your guide."

"Thank you so much, I’m really happy. It’s very lucky for me to have you. I rushed out and brought too few clothes. I want to go shopping for clothes and things for the baby, could you take me with you?"

Kate laughed, "Of course, I love shopping. It would be wonderful if we could go together."

Two beautiful women walked and chatted; they genuinely seemed to click at first sight, like they were long-lost friends, radiating joy in their conversation, not only talking and laughing but also quickly engaging in the kind of small gestures that close friends share.

As for what they really think inside, haha, that’s not important. It’s just a performance, putting on a show for others to see, and to make their interactions less awkward. From this perspective, playing the part is quite important.
