Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Senior Brother Angrily Confronts Bai
Half an hour later, An Yan went downstairs to meet Fang Zhou, unable to stand Su Manxi’s tearful face towards Fu Shiyan anymore.
She still trusted her man.
But she found Su Manxi’s clingy demeanor towards Fu Shiyan rather disgusting.
Just as Fu Shiyan was about to follow, Su Manxi quickly spoke, "Shiyan, please don’t go, okay? It really hurts."
Fu Shiyan frowned and asked the doctor nearby, "Is there any way to relieve her pain?"
"Take a painkiller, but she’s scheduled for surgery in a while. If she takes it now, it might impact our control over the anesthesia dosage during the surgery."
Fu Shiyan comforted her, "Then bear with it a little longer, you’ll be taken to the operating room soon."
Su Manxi gritted her teeth in hatred. She realized Fu Shiyan wanted to go find An Yan, but how could she let go of such an opportunity?
She planned to use Fu Shiyan’s guilt to firmly bind him to herself.
Shortly after An Yan stepped out of the hospital, a Mercedes business car stopped in front of the hospital.
The car door opened, and the first thing seen was a man’s legs clad in neatly pressed trousers.
Fang Zhou stepped up the stairs, tossed his suit jacket to his assistant Chen Sheng, and with two buttons of his white shirt undone, he exuded a carefree aura.
His lips curved up into a charming smile as he stepped forward and hugged An Yan, "My dear little junior sister, long time no see."
An Yan rolled her eyes and pushed him away, "It’s only been four months, hardly a long time."
"You’re really heartless—four months is quite a long time!"
An Yan clicked her tongue in disapproval, "You should really find a girlfriend; then you wouldn’t feel like four months is such a long time. You might even forget about me."
Fang Zhou chuckled lightly, "Is the patient your friend?"
"My boyfriend’s old flame."
"Then why treat her at all? It’d be better if both her hands were crippled and she couldn’t cling to someone else’s boyfriend anymore." Fang Zhou pressed his hand against her forehead, "Little junior sister, you’re quite ill!"
An Yan slapped his hand away, "Just make sure her hands are back to normal, otherwise she might cling to my boyfriend just with her feet."
Fang Zhou’s expression became serious as he spoke solemnly, "An Yan, if Fu Shiyan were indiscriminate, you wouldn’t need to feel guilty about him getting injured for you back then; maybe at that moment, he could have saved anyone."
Knowing Fang Zhou was unhappy, An Yan didn’t continue the topic, "The pre-surgery preparations are all ready; let’s go upstairs."
Fang Zhou regained his usual cool demeanor and followed An Yan upstairs.
They immediately saw Fu Shiyan and Su Manxi in front of the operating room.
Upon hearing footsteps, Su Manxi turned around and saw a devilishly attractive man approaching, with utter disdain and arrogance in his eyes.
Walking beside him was An Yan, and the two seemed very familiar with each other.
Su Manxi hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, "Shiyan, Professor Fang seems quite close with An Yan."
All three present had exceptionally keen hearing. Despite Su Manxi’s soft voice, everyone heard her.
Fu Shiyan and An Yan simultaneously frowned, somewhat displeased.
Fang Zhou gave a cold laugh, truly a deceptive act of the innocent.
He glanced sideways at An Yan, "If it weren’t for your sake, I would have turned around and left today."
An Yan naturally knew about Fang Zhou’s temper. She smiled ingratiatingly, "I’m thankful to your eight generations of ancestors!"
Fang Zhou raised an eyebrow, "Why does that sound like you’re cursing me?"
"No, I’m truly grateful, really."
Did Fang Zhou really know her?
Verbally expressing thanks while internally might be begrudging him hundreds of times!
At this moment, the director of Hong’en Hospital also hurried over.
The director extended both hands, "Professor Fang, it’s good to see you. I heard you were coming and specially rushed back from a conference in Linshi."
Fang Zhou nodded slightly, "The patient has a fractured carpal bone; I will use the latest technology for the bone connection. Your hospital’s four specialists are allowed to observe the surgery—don’t say I didn’t show you face."
The director bowed and nodded, "Yes, yes, trouble you, Professor Fang, to come with me to make the pre-surgery preparations."
Fang Zhou, with his hands in his pockets, followed the director toward the operating room as people automatically made way to the sides.
As he passed by Fu Shiyan, he gave him a glance and then looked at Su Manxi, "Although it’s badly swollen, it’s not that grave; truly melodramatic!"
Su Manxi had never suffered such significant injuries before and naturally felt wronged.
"But it really does hurt," she argued.
Fang Zhou stopped and smiled sideways, "A crutch hitting a man would at most cause soft tissue damage, which would heal in a couple of days. It was rash of you to charge in like that, truly a self-inflicted ordeal."
Su Manxi felt aggrieved and insulted; she was injured yet being ridiculed, "Wasn’t it wrong for me to not want Shiyan to get hurt?"
Fang Zhou turned around, his eyes filled with cynicism, "Who knows what your true intentions were; maybe you just wanted to get hurt and latch onto him!"
His gaze fell on Fu Shiyan again, "What do you think?" Having said that, he walked into the operating room without looking back.
Su Manxi, full of grievance, "I really don’t know what I did wrong, is protecting a friend also a crime? How can he say that about me?"
She looked at Fu Shiyan, "Shiyan, it’s me who’s injured, so why should my motives be questioned?"
Fu Shiyan spoke softly, "Don’t think too much, just focus on the surgery."
He stepped back, handing the wheelchair over to the approaching nurse, "Thank you."
The nurse nodded, pushing Su Manxi into the operating room.
As Fu Shiyan watched the metal doors close, he remembered Fang Zhou’s words.
Although he didn’t know the relationship between Fang Zhou and An Yan, she had managed to summon him with just a few words.
More importantly, Fang Zhou was consistently repelling Su Manxi, and every sentence was a reminder not to let his sympathy overflow. He realized that Fang Zhou knew about the relationship between him and An Yan.
Thus, the connection between Fang Zhou and An Yan was not shallow.
Fu Shiyan turned around, his gaze softly landing on An Yan, then he strode forward, and as he passed An Yan, he softly said, "Come with me."
An Yan turned and followed him.
