Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Fu Shiyan Goes to the Haunted House to Find An Yan
An Yan’s first reaction was that this man was Bai Qinghan.
She gripped his wrist, not expecting the other person to capture her hand in his palm, as she felt her back press against a firm chest.
Familiar scent of cold woodiness hit her, and An Yan was startled, then lifted and carried away by someone.
"Scared?" came the man’s low, resonant voice.
An Yan turned around and looked up, and although she couldn’t see anything, the man’s warm breath was close at hand, her voice trembling slightly, "Very scared."
"Liar, the moment you gripped my wrist, I felt like my bones were about to crack."
As expected, after her delicate facade had crumbled, pretending to be weak was no longer an option.
An Yan simply stopped pretending and rubbed the man’s wrist with a pained expression, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you."
"Sorry for what? I’m happy that my woman can protect herself."
"How did you get here?"
Fu Shiyan raised his hand, lightly caressing the girl’s cheek, "I missed you. When are you planning to go back?"
"The tents are all set up; we’ll at least have lunch first."
"Then I’ll join you for lunch," Fu Shiyan said, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "See you in a bit."
An Yan remembered that Fu Shiyan had said the same thing that morning, so this man must have planned to come find her all along.
A small smile graced her lips.
On this side, three people were shouting An Yan’s name.
An Yan hastened her steps to catch up, "I’m right here."
Bai Qinghan used his phone to light the way, and upon seeing it was An Yan, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Where did you go just now?"
"My phone fell, so I was looking for it," An Yan explained.
Fu Jinqiao was sobbing, "I thought you’d passed out from fright."
An Yan smiled and took her hand, "Let’s go. If you didn’t faint, I certainly wouldn’t."
The four of them walked forward, with vampires, pirates, and the like popping out here and there. Fu Jinqiao screamed in terror, whereas An Yan remained calm and composed.
Fu Jinqiao, clinging to An Yan’s arm, asked, "Aren’t you scared at all, An Yan?"
An Yan laughed, "The scariest things in the world are people, not ghosts."
Shang Wenhang and Bai Qinghan walked behind and Shang Wenhang whispered, "It seems this girl likes thrills. Next time, let’s take her to play a real-life CS game."
Bai Qinghan raised an eyebrow, "You think that’s a good idea?"
"Absolutely. Don’t invite her alone, but team up with her to foster emotional connection."
"Okay, I’ll give it a try."
Twenty minutes later, the four emerged from the haunted house.
Shang Wenhang remarked, "An Yan, what exactly are you afraid of? You seem like you’re afraid of nothing!"
Afraid of what?
Of course, An Yan had been afraid.
She had watched her mother take her last breath, watched her mother being pushed into the mortuary, feeling helpless and fearful that she would never see her mother again.
She watched An Zaili drive away, leaving her alone in the countryside, afraid of being abandoned yet powerless to change it.
She went to rescue her brother, only to witness him die before her eyes, without being able to save him. She feared she would never again call him brother, feared that her grandparents would be heartbroken.
She also watched as Fu Shiyan was hit by a bullet fragment in the head to protect her, falling in front of her; she feared loss, and at that time, she didn’t even know his real identity or name.
But what use was fear? Fear only added to her own emotions of terror, turning her into a turtle, shrinking into its shell at the sign of danger.
An Yan chuckled, "Everyone has something they fear inside, and I too fear losing things—kinship, love, and friendship."
She glanced at the time, "Let’s go eat."
Bai Qinghan looked at her and suddenly felt that An Yan’s eyes seemed to have experienced much more than the innocence and carefreeness her twenty years should have held.
At that moment, Fu Jinqiao pointed at a man surrounded by a crowd not far away, completely excited, "Isn’t that Mu Qianfan? Oh my God! Are they filming something?"
An Yan followed the direction of her finger and saw Mu Qianfan talking to a girl, seemingly rehearsing a scene as more and more people gathered around.
Fu Jinqiao tugged at An Yan’s hand and rushed over, squeezing to the very front.
Mu Qianfan, hearing the calls and screams of his fans, gestured for silence with his hand.
At that glance, he saw An Yan, surprise showing in his eyes as he smiled faintly, walking toward her.
At the same time, a man wielding a sharp knife lunged at Mu Qianfan.
An Yan reacted instinctively, grabbing the man’s collar, kicking behind his knees to force him to kneel, and striking his elbow, causing the man to release his grip in pain and the knife to drop to the ground.
The whole process took less than two seconds, while everyone was still in shock.
Mu Qianfan’s bodyguards then appeared and secured the man.
Is everything all right?" Mu Qianfan asked, his expression serious as he approached An Yan, examining her from head to toe.
An Yan shook her head, "From now on, make sure your bodyguard stays no more than two meters away from you."
Thank you, An Yan."
An Yan was first taken aback, but then realized that it would be easy for someone of his status to find out her name.
"No need to thank me."
Fu Jinqiao ran over, "An Yan, you saved my idol! Wasn’t that so cool?"
Mu Qianfan nodded, "It was."
Bai Qinghan and Shang Wenhang also came over to check if An Yan was injured.
Even they had not reacted as quickly as she had; like a little leopard, An Yan had darted out, and everything was over before anyone could respond.
The director and the executive came running over, "Teacher Mu, are you all right?"
Mu Qianfan said he was fine, "Thanks to An Yan who saved me."
The director looked An Yan up and down, "Miss An, you have a good image. We have a desert island survival reality show coming up with celebrities paired with ordinary people. Would you be interested?"
An Yan glanced around, knowing that a direct refusal would make her seem ungrateful.
She declined tactfully, "I’m sorry, but I’m currently in school and probably won’t have the time."
Mu Qianfan smiled, "No problem, the production team can adjust to your schedule. How about the weekend after next? I just happen to be short two partners. Give it some thought?"
Seeing that An Yan still wanted to refuse, he turned to Fu Jinqiao, "If she can participate, you can too."
Fu Jinqiao’s eyes lit up immediately, and she grabbed An Yan’s hand, "An Yan, please. I’ve been dreaming of an opportunity like this!"
An Yan let out a light sigh, "Alright then."
Fu Jinqiao jumped up excitedly, and the next second, she stood there stiffly, stammering, "Un, Uncle."
Fu Shiyan thought his niece was more like a human trafficker than Bai Qinghan’s mother, Tang Wanqiu, constantly leading his woman into the wolf’s den.
He couldn’t help feeling a headache, "Are you hurt?"
Fu Jinqiao spun around, "No, Uncle, I’m fine."
Fu Shiyan: Who’s asking you!
An Yan shook her head, "I’m fine."
Fu Jinqiao clung to Fu Shiyan’s arm, "Uncle, An Yan and I are planning to join the desert island survival reality show with Movie King Mu!"
Fu Shiyan chuckled softly, "Then I hope that Movie King Mu won’t encounter such events in the reality show again and need my niece to protect him."
A thick tension spread, and silence fell on everyone around.
Mu Qianfan’s slender phoenix eyes lifted slightly, "This won’t happen again, I will make sure to protect President Fu’s two nieces."
Mu Qianfan’s assistant Xu Shuo hurriedly approached, "Miss An, Miss Fu, I need to take down your contact information to get in touch with you and the production team."
Fu Jinqiao left her phone number with high spirits, while An Yan glanced at Fu Shiyan, knowing the king of jealousy was at it again.
Soon the police arrived, took the suspect away, and routinely recorded statements.
After this brief interlude, An Yan and her companions headed towards the tents.
Shang Wenhang clicked his tongue, "I think Mu Qianfan seems to have some thoughts about An Yan."
Bai Qinghan muttered discontentedly, "I’m not blind."
Shang Wenhang sighed, "Mu Qianfan has a good family background and looks handsome, and importantly, he’s never had any scandals. The first two points you both share equally, but the third point, Qinghan, he’s cleaner than you."
Bai Qinghan had never thought about staying pure for anyone, but today he found that he might be eliminated by the girl he liked because of this, and he couldn’t help feeling suffocated.
Back in the tents, Fu Shiyan sat amidst them in a suit and leather shoes, looking out of place.
"Uncle, what brings you here?"
Fu Shiyan spoke indifferently, "The amusement park needs to add new attractions. I’m here to inspect."
While this didn’t require the president himself for an inspection, it made sense nonetheless.
Without giving it much thought, they began to eat.
Inside the Mercedes-Benz van, Mu Qianfan sent a friend request.
Xu Shuo laughed, "Brother Mu, I noticed you have a different vibe towards that girl."
Mu Qianfan hooked his lips, "It is different, strangely fond of her."
Xu Shuo: Is the iron tree blooming?
Mu Qianfan, observing Xu Shuo’s astonished expression, chuckled, "Her eyes are very similar to my mother’s, it gives me a sisterly feeling."
Xu Shuo, "But don’t you have a sister?"
Mu Qianfan hummed softly, then closed his eyes, seemingly unwilling to talk more about it.
