Spoiled By My Ex-Fiance's Uncle -
Chapter 63: Keep It If You Have It
Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Keep It If You Have It
Su Yue raised her eyebrows, "President Fu’s younger uncle?"
An Yan nodded, looking up toward the illuminated Ferris wheel on the top floor of the Wanjiang Banquet, "He asked me to wait for him there."
Su Yue patted her on the shoulder, "Go ahead. When Bai Qinghan arrives, I’ll tell him I drove you home."
An Yan hugged her briefly, then ran into the hotel, lifting her dress as she did.
Su Yue called Si Heng to have him fetch the car.
Si Heng was puzzled, but he cooperated nonetheless.
Watching the car pull up, Su Yue climbed into the back seat.
Shortly after, Bai Qinghan drove up. Not seeing An Yan, he prepared to call her.
The Bentley’s window rolled down, revealing a radiant face. Su Yue called out, "Young Master Bai, An Yan rode back with me. Don’t worry, goodbye!"
Before Bai Qinghan could see inside the car, the window rose again, leaving him with but a whiff of fresh exhaust.
Bai Qinghan: "What’s going on here? How could she just leave? I wasn’t done playing my part!"
At that moment, the phone screen lit up.
"Mother dearest?"
The woman’s voice could barely conceal her excitement, "Where’s that girl? Bring her back to the banquet hall for mom to see."
Bai Qinghan felt somewhat depressed; that girl had been hijacked mid-way.
But he couldn’t say that, for it would be too embarrassing.
He cleared his throat, "I’ve driven her home, I’ll bring her over when the opportunity arises."
He called Shang Wenhang, "Join me for a couple of drinks."
"You need me to join you? Where’s An Yan?"
Bai Qinghan clicked his tongue, "It’s a long story, just come out, I’ll wait for you."
Even though it was summer, the evening breeze was still slightly cool.
The Wanjiang Banquet is a hotel that integrates dining and accommodation, the largest and most luxurious in Jiangcheng. The Ferris wheel on the hotel rooftop is free to the public every weekend.
Though the rooftop should have been packed, it was quiet at that moment, with only the Ferris wheel shining brilliantly.
From afar, it looked like the stars in the sky, sparkling and bright.
An Yan settled into the cabin, admiring the night view of Jiangcheng.
She had never thought the nighttime view of Jiangcheng could be so beautiful, solely because he was there.
About half an hour later, footsteps approached.
An Yan looked sideways as Fu Shiyan opened the cabin door and stepped in, sitting next to her.
The man’s lips were slightly pursed, making him look rather unhappy.
An Yan moved her handbag aside, lifting two fingers to his lips and pushing upwards.
"Smile for me, will you?"
Fu Shiyan held her hands, "Is Bai dating you?"
"You know that’s not the case, what’s with the unwarranted jealousy?"
"But Bai might take it seriously."
"I will clarify things with Bai Qinghan, don’t worry."
An Yan knew that Fu Shiyan was actually easy to placate. She rubbed his face, "I noticed that Grandpa was quite opposed to anything between us. If we go public, we will face even more obstacles. Moreover, tonight is Grandma’s birthday, and I don’t want to spoil the mood. So, today is really not suitable for going public."
"Grandpa? Grandma?"
An Yan smiled, "If I call you younger uncle, isn’t it right to call them Grandpa, Grandma?"
Fu Shiyan let out a faint sigh from his nose, "When it’s just the two of us, don’t call me younger uncle, call me Shiyan."
An Yan smirked and called out ’Shiyan’.
Fu Shiyan’s lips curved slightly, "I like how you call me that, especially then."
An Yan lightly punched his chest, "Speak properly."
"I am speaking properly."
An Yan was exasperated, this man was not as serious as he appeared to be, "Let’s not tell anyone about our relationship for now, in case it causes trouble if anyone slips up."
Fu Shiyan understood her point. They had just gotten together not long ago and did not want others to disturb or spoil it.
He hummed in affirmation and pulled her into his embrace.
After a long pause, he asked, "You knew how to appraise treasures more than a decade ago?"
"I began learning twelve years ago."
"From whom?"
"From Grandpa, the grandfather who adopted me." An Yan knew that Fu Shiyan was curious about her, but he had never forced her.
She didn’t want to hide anything from him, so she recounted the story of being abandoned in the countryside at five and then meeting Grandpa.
Of course, there were some secrets she didn’t disclose.
A fiery anger and sympathy burned in Fu Shiyan’s eyes. He hadn’t expected the An Family to be so shameless, abandoning the five-year-old An Yan in the countryside with no one to care for her, only to return when she had value that could be exploited again.
At the same time, Fu Shiyan was also amazed and relieved.
He was amazed because the person who had adopted her was Elder Bi from Xiangcheng.
The Bi Family of Xiangcheng was akin to the Fu Family of Jiangcheng, but the Bi Family’s business was mysterious—no one knew exactly how wealthy they were, supposedly wealthy enough to rival a nation.
Bi Mang was highly respected, an influential figure whom even Old Master Fu had to give some face in his presence.
Suddenly, Fu Shiyan understood why An Yan was trained in martial arts; people like them were groomed as heirs from a young age. Thus, the inevitable internal and external conflicts and dangers of the world required them to have the ability to protect themselves.
He felt relieved because An Yan, due to Elder Bi’s adoption, had a wonderful childhood and received a good education, becoming a guest professor at Ivy League at a young age.
An Yan was enrolled in Jiang University also because of An Zaili’s vanity, who hoped she could add luster to her credentials, marry into the Fu Family, or another wealthy family if not.
Of course, the reason An Yan compromised and went to Jiang University was not just because of An Zaili, but also because she genuinely lacked a domestic university diploma.
If the An Family knew that An Yan had been adopted by Elder Bi, they probably would have unashamedly tried to curry favor with him long ago.
This was also why An Yan was so low-key and never revealed her true identity.
Fu Shiyan gently stroked the girl’s fair cheek, "How many more secrets do you have that I don’t know about?"
An Yan raised her eyebrows slightly, "Quite a few, you need to dig them out."
"Let me think, it’s a bit like opening a mystery box gift, full of the unknown and curiosity," Fu Shiyan hooked his finger on her slanting shoulder strap, "A gift, you see, should be unwrapped layer by layer."
An Yan, listening to these words, seemed a bit flustered.
"You little thing, always full of surprises. I have a project in Xiangcheng at the beginning of August, and you’ll be on vacation then. Shall we visit Grandpa together?"
An Yan, thinking that it had been several months since she had seen her grandparents, agreed.
Fu Shiyan sent a message, and soon, the Ferris wheel began to turn.
Since this was a Ferris wheel designed on the rooftop, it was not very large, had twelve cabins, and took five or six minutes for a full rotation.
When it reached the top, Fu Shiyan pinched the girl’s chin, gazing into her shimmering eyes, "I heard that when a Ferris wheel reaches the top, lovers must kiss, or else they’ll part ways."
An Yan blinked, "Are you hinting at me?"
"I am making it clear to you."
An Yan laughed out loud, her hands cradling the man’s face as she kissed him.
The couple rode for countless rounds before the Ferris wheel finally stopped.
As the door opened, Fu Shiyan carried the woman in the suit down, and as they passed by Han Yang, he instructed, "Delete all the security footage."
Han Yang responded with understanding, "Yes, President Fu."
Fu Shiyan, holding An Yan, took the private elevator, "Like an ostrich, show your face."
"No, it’s too embarrassing, my dress got dirty."
Fu Shiyan chuckled lightly, knowing she was feeling shy, "I’ll wash it for you when we get back."
"Also, we should stop by the pharmacy later to pick up that thing."
"I am careful."
An Yan suddenly looked up, her face flushed red, "What if there’s a baby?"
"If there is one, we’ll keep it."
An Yan was stunned.
Looking at the girl’s dazed expression, Fu Shiyan smiled, "Are you happily dumbfounded?"
"A bit happy, but now isn’t the right time."
Fu Shiyan thought for a moment. An Yan was still in her junior year and hadn’t graduated, and with the situation still tense with Old Master Fu and having not yet visited Elder Bi, it wasn’t an ideal time for them to have a child.
He hummed a response, "We’ll buy it in a moment."
The car stopped in the underground garage, and just as they had settled into the car, a figure suddenly dashed in front of them.
