Chapter 53: Chapter 53 I Am Very Angry Now

An Yan’s eyes held a clear spring, and she was terrified that with just a nod of her head, Fu Shiyan would say goodbye to her.

Her uneasy hands clutched the man’s crisp suit, burying her little face in his chest, ready to fight fire with softness, "Younger Uncle, I just like you so, so much. I’ve been scheming for so long to become your girlfriend, don’t I deserve some praise?"

It was the first time Fu Shiyan had seen someone play him and state their case with such righteousness—no, this was the second time.. The first was that night when she drugged him.

He was truly amused to laughter.

He lifted the girl’s chin, looking at the redness at the corners of her eyes, "You admit it quite readily."

"The key is that you’re so clever, even if I didn’t admit it, you would have figured it out."

"Don’t flatter me. You’ve deceived me for so long, don’t you feel a bit guilty when facing me?"

An Yan looked up cautiously and pressed a kiss against the man’s thin lips, "Not only do I feel guilty, but I’m also very worried."

"Worried about what?"

"Worried that you won’t want me anymore," An Yan said, her eyes pleading as she looked at Fu Shiyan, "Younger Uncle, do you not want me anymore?"

Fu Shiyan, looking at the girl’s tearful eyes, felt both irritated and amused.

He had lived for twenty-eight years and had been a sitting duck for a young girl from the start.

He was like a live fish that knew the boiling water was dangerous, yet he still jumped in; after he was cooked, she’d just scoop him out to enjoy.

An Yan’s fingers took the opportunity to slip through the gaps of his shirt buttons, "Younger Uncle, I invited the gentleman into the urn, not catching turtles in a jar."

He automatically ignored the preceding words, focusing on the last four instead.

Catching turtles in a jar?

He was the turtle?

Alright then, turtles are pricier than fish, but it doesn’t sound too flattering.

With these thoughts, An Yan unbuttoned his shirt one by one.

Fu Shiyan grabbed her restless little hand, "I’m very angry now."

An Yan knew that a cold war between them meant it was game over, so she boldly straddled his lap.

"Younger Uncle, I was wrong, I’ll be good from now on, alright?" She kissed the man’s Adam’s apple deeply and lightly, "Younger Uncle, if you don’t want me, I’ll have no family left."

The little thing was clever, always hitting right in the heart.

Fu Shiyan’s gaze flickered and then disappeared, still maintaining a cool demeanor, "Get off."

An Yan pouted, rolled off him, and tugged at his long fingers, "I said I would take responsibility for it."

Fu Shiyan withdrew his hand without a trace of emotion, "We’ve arrived. Get out of the car."

"You’re really making me get out?" An Yan leaned on his arm with an innocent and adorable look, "Younger Uncle, can you bear it?"

"Don’t make me say it a second time," Fu Shiyan’s voice was cold.

An Yan knew he was truly angry.

She obediently got out of the car, standing by the curb watching the inside of the car, like a wife-watching stele, although it was too dark to see anything.

At that moment, the car window rolled down.

An Yan put on a smiling face, only to see Fu Shiyan hand her a bag of pastries, "Take it."

An Yan took it; his arm retracted, the window closed, and the car drove away.

Only when she could no longer see the car’s tail lights did she sigh deeply and turn to go upstairs.

On the roadside, inside the Maybach.

Fu Shiyan tapped a cigarette out of his pack, lit it, and took several deep puffs.

Smoke swirled around his extraordinarily handsome face.

After a while, when he saw the light in 1201 turn on, he ordered Han Yang to drive.

Upon reaching the old mansion and just before getting out of the car, Fu Shiyan said, "There’s no need to investigate that kidnapper from before anymore."

Han Yang was somewhat surprised, but he felt this matter seemed intricately linked to An Yan.

He didn’t ask further, merely acknowledging the order.

Once Fu Shiyan entered the old mansion, he saw Fu Haichuan’s face, grave and angered.

Zhou Yi gave a significant look, "Your dad hasn’t been back long. It wasn’t Uncle Fu who brought him back, but that girl from the Qiao Family."

Knowing the elder had something to say, Fu Shiyan took a seat on the sofa opposite them, his legs nonchalantly crossed, silently waiting for the other party to begin.

Fu Haichuan took a sip of tea, "That girl from the Qiao Family excels in every aspect, why don’t you favor her?"

"No chemistry," answered Fu Shiyan, his handsome face wearing a look of indifferent calm.

Fu Haichuan’s face was set, "Then, what kind of person does catch your eye? Your mother has a whole list of candidates, pick one!"

Fu Shiyan’s fingertips slid over his cufflink before he stood up, "It’s getting late, you should rest early."

"Wait a moment!"

Fu Shiyan, "Is there something else?"

Fu Haichuan said, "Just now, Fu Jinqiao mentioned wanting An Yan to be her martial arts coach, isn’t that nonsense!"

"I think it’s quite normal."

"What’s normal about it? An Yan once had an engagement with Chenyu, and now she’s to enter and leave this house, what kind of propriety is that?"

Fu Shiyan chuckled, "Then you and Jinqiao should know, this is out of my hands."

Watching the man ascend the stairs, Fu Haichuan grew so angry he got a headache, "Look at him, see what kind of attitude he takes all day!"

Zhou Yi was unconcerned, "Jinqiao wants to learn martial arts for self-defense, and that has nothing to do with you. An Yan is simply coming to the old mansion as a coach, why are you so opposed! You should stay out of this matter!"

Fu Haichuan sighed, "Fine, I won’t meddle with Jinqiao. But I must intervene with Shiyan! I find Qiao Jie quite suitable! This weekend, on your birthday, have her accompany you."

Zhou Yi frowned, "That won’t do! If she accompanies me, won’t it confirm her as the Fu Family’s daughter-in-law? If Shiyan gets angry, it will be embarrassing for both families."

Fu Haichuan huffed through his nose, "Just do as I say! I have settled this match with the Qiao Family!"

Zhou Yi disagreed, "Although I’m anxious too, you cannot decide Shiyan’s marriage on your own! That would be disrespecting him!"

Fu Haichuan let out a cold snort.

Zhou Yi gave him a sidelong look and went upstairs.

Outside the window, the moonlight was faint, and the silver light filtered through the dense branches of the Chinese parasol trees, casting mottled shadows.

Standing by the window, Fu Shiyan flipped through An Yan’s messages on his phone.

It was already midnight, and An Yan had not sent any messages.

He felt especially hollow inside, and insomnia had set in.

He found that on nights when he slept with An Yan, he would sleep soundly through the night.

He took a book from the shelf and began to read, leaning against the headboard.

The next day, Saturday.

With his hands in his pockets, Fu Shiyan walked into the dining room. He sat opposite Fu Jinqiao and casually asked, "Have you contacted your coach yet?"

Fu Jinqiao, with a mouthful of bun, replied, "Not yet, it’s still morning, isn’t she coming this afternoon?"

Fu Haichuan frowned, "Jinqiao, if you want to find a coach, you can go to a professional martial arts studio. An Yan, a young girl, isn’t professional enough, it’s very easy for you to hurt yourself."

Swallowing the bun in her mouth and taking a sip of porridge, Fu Jinqiao was clearly upset, "Grandpa, don’t you like An Yan? Don’t think I can’t see it, you’re especially against her! It’s just because she once had an engagement with my good-for-nothing brother! But what’s that got to do with me? You can’t stop us from interacting!"

Zhou Yi sighed with emotion, looking at Fu Haichuan, "Ultimately, we wronged that child. If you don’t like her, stay in your study when she comes. Don’t come out!"

Fu Shiyan lightly hummed, "Sounds good to me."

Fu Haichuan: "..."
