Chapter 486 Mu Shaoci & Shen Lu 31

Chapter 486: Chapter 486 Mu Shaoci & Shen Lu 31

Shen Lu felt a severe pain in her lower abdomen, sensing something slipping away.

Hearing the two masked men speak so, her heart ached unbearably.

She had a miscarriage?

Their child with Mu Shaoci was gone?

Tears uncontrollably streamed down her face, "No! Please no!"

The masked man cursed under his breath.

At this moment, his phone kept vibrating. He answered, "What’s up? How many cars? Alright, we’re leaving now!"

The masked man whispered a few words to his companion, then both glanced at Shen Lu’s condition before turning and leaving.

Shen Lu was covered with cold sweat, her consciousness blurring, and before she completely sank into darkness, she saw a man rush into the room...

The beeping of the life support monitoring machine echoed.

Mu Shaoci watched over the sleeping woman in the hospital bed, her complexion pale and even her lips devoid of any color.

His heart ached tremendously, holding Shen Lu’s cold hand, hot tears falling down.

His gaze landed on her lower abdomen, where their child had once been.

It was all his fault, for not protecting her well, nor their child.

Mu Shaoci clenched his teeth, stood up, and walked out of the ward to call Su Chen.

"Did you catch them?"

"We did, President Mu, these two are tough nuts, they won’t confess."

Mu Shaoci’s eyes were cold and fierce, he said sternly, "Then there’s no need to keep them."

Su Chen replied, "Yes."

Returning to the ward, he saw Shen Lu opening her eyes.

He quickly walked over and gently asked, "Are you awake? How do you feel?"

Shen Lu placed a hand on her lower abdomen, "It’s gone, isn’t it?"

Mu Shaoci pursed his lips, kissed her forehead, "We can have another child, Lulu. Once you’ve recovered, let’s get married, okay? I’ll prepare a grand wedding for you, alright?"

Shen Lu’s nose twitched sourly, she turned her face away, tears streaming down, wetting the pillow.

They would never have a wedding, nor could they have children anymore.

Thinking of what she was about to do, she felt sorry for Mu Shaoci.

Her heart was bitter, repeatedly apologizing.

Mu Shaoci thought her emotional breakdown was due to the loss of their child, staying by her side, constantly comforting her.

"It’s okay, Lulu. After we get married, shall we have two children? If two isn’t enough, we can have three. We’ll check out of the hospital tomorrow, and I’ll take you back to the Mu Family home."

Shen Lu sniffled, turning her head to look at Mu Shaoci, "I’m not in a good state now, let’s announce our relationship publically when I’m better, then you can take me back to the Mu Family."

Mu Shaoci nodded, "Alright, whatever you say. Everything is up to you, Lulu."

Shen Lu turned away, she didn’t dare to look into Mu Shaoci’s eyes.

She was about to betray him, she had no right to stay by his side.

They were destined to be parallel lines, never intersecting.

The space that appeared before had been an error, now everything was going to be corrected.

Mu Shaoci watched her lonely figure, his heart couldn’t stop aching, but he was powerless now.

On the third day, Mu Shaoci took Shen Lu home.

Since a miscarriage was akin to confinement, Shen Lu needed to rest at home.

Mu Shaoci hired a servant responsible for three meals a day and housework, bringing his work home as well.

Shen Lu watched him bustling for her, her heart couldn’t bear it.

Lying in bed, even the afternoon sunlight couldn’t warm her.

Knowing what she had to do, Mu Shaoci would never forgive her in this lifetime, her body cold as if plunged into an ice cellar.

The bedroom door opened, Mu Shaoci walked in, sitting by the bed, gently stroking her haggard face.

"Why did you eat so little at noon?"

Shen Lu clung to his tenderness, holding his broad hand, "I have no appetite, don’t worry, I’ll be better in a couple of days."

Mu Shaoci held her hand back, "I set up a monument for our child. Once you’re better, I’ll take you to see it, okay?"

Thinking of the child that had once been in her belly for four weeks, her heart pained.

She choked up and said, "When I get better, take me with you."

Mu Shaoci scooped her up into his arms, holding her tightly.

After a long while, he said, "Get some good sleep. Today is my mother’s birthday, and we will be going out to sea tonight."

Shen Lu’s eyes shifted, "Will you come back tonight?"

"I’ll try my best to return before midnight, is that okay?"

Shen Lu looked up at him, "Actually, there’s no need to rush. It’s your mother’s birthday, you should spend it with her. I’ll just sleep through the night."

Mu Shaoci was heartbroken by her understanding, knowing how much she had been hurt but still so thoughtful.

Shen Lu held on to him, not letting go until she fell deeply asleep.

Mu Shaoci returned to his study to handle some documents, and by four in the afternoon, he changed into a suit and left the dressing room.

Looking at the woman still deep in sleep, he kissed her lips reluctantly and left the house.

Hearing the sound of the door closing, Shen Lu opened her eyes, slid on her slippers, and walked out of the bedroom.

The servant saw her and respectfully asked, "Madame, you’re awake."

Shen Lu nodded, smiling, "I’d like some cake. Could you buy it for me?"

The servant bowed, "Of course, sir was just lamenting that you ate too little earlier. Which store and what flavor?"

Shen Lu said, "There’s a cake shop called Lucky Star on Heping Road. I like their strawberry mille-feuille."

The servant nodded, put on a coat, and left the house.

Shen Lu dialed a string of numbers, "How is my dad?"

"Don’t worry, the old man is tough! We even gave him a beating last night."

Shen Lu clenched her teeth and said deliberately, "Don’t hit him anymore! I’ll find what you want now! When and where should we meet? I need to ensure my father’s safety!"

"No problem, meet tonight at Nanwan Port! I’ll contact you directly!"

The port?

Could she run into Mu Shaoci?

She was just about to suggest another location when the other side hung up the phone.

By the time she redialed, the number was disconnected.

Shen Lu staggered slightly, wondering if she would see Mu Shaoci tonight.

But she didn’t have time to think too much about it.

She had to find the tender base price before the servant returned.

She took several deep breaths and turned to enter the study.

She searched through all the documents on the desk but found nothing.

Just as she was frowning in disappointment, she spotted a safe.

She walked over quickly, squatted down, and tried entering Mu Shaoci’s birthday, but it was incorrect.

This kind of safe would alarm after three wrong attempts.

She licked her lips and entered her own birthday.

The safe opened.

She burst into tears instantly, Mu Shaoci’s deep feelings for her were overwhelming.

She wiped away her tears, opened the safe door and pulled out the contents.

There was a small box and some documents.

She opened the box, inside was a red diamond ring.

She tried it on her ring finger; it was a perfect fit.

So, it was prepared by Mu Shaoci for her.

Feeling unworthy, she quickly took it off and put it back.

She then checked the documents and finally found the bid. She photographed every page with her phone.

She was about to put the items far away when she noticed a property transfer document underneath the bid.

Upon opening it, it turned out Mu Shaoci had transferred a large portion of his property and assets to her.

Shen Lu could no longer hold back and burst into tears.

She knew this turn of events meant there was no longer a possibility between them.
