Mu Shaoci stuffed her into the passenger seat, then walked around the front of the car to sit in the driver’s seat.

Shen Lu glared at him, "This is robbery behavior."

Mu Shaoci responded with a grunt, "Then treat me as a robber. But do you really hate this?"

Shen Lu responded with a slightly guilty hum.

Mu Shaoci reached out and tweaked her little nose, "I see you’re actually enjoying this. Women, always saying one thing but feeling another."

He started the car, holding the steering wheel with one hand and Shen Lu’s hand with the other.

"How’s the project going? Still smooth?"

Mu Shaoci lightly hummed, "Not bad, it’s already finished. Now I can spend time with you."

Shen Lu was stunned, looking at the man, "It’s all done already? That was fast."

"Too fast for you?"

Shen Lu pursed her lips and smiled, "I just didn’t expect it to be this fast. Could the project have been settled directly via video conference?"

Mu Shaoci glanced at her, "Finally realized? Seems like you’re only fit to handle my diet."

Shen Lu pulled her hand back with a hint of temper, "If I weren’t replacing Assistant Su, I could handle the secretarial work adeptly too. Why would Assistant Su need to get hemorrhoids?"

Mu Shaoci chuckled softly, "I’ll give him a good talking-to later."

Shen Lu paused, "Don’t really scold him, I was just joking."

Mu Shaoci hummed, "But I took it seriously."

Shen Lu: "..."

The car stopped in front of a towering building.

After getting out, Mu Shaoci opened the door for Shen Lu.

After Shen Lu got out, she looked up, "Are we eating here?"

Mu Shaoci looked at her ditzy expression, laughed, and ruffled her hair before taking her hand and walking in.

They went up to the top floor in the elevator.

Exiting the elevator, Shen Lu found herself in a sophisticated and elegant restaurant.

But there was no one else around.

Shen Lu was puzzled; even an expensive restaurant would have some clientele, it wouldn’t be completely devoid of customers.

A waiter came over, bowed respectfully, and led them to a table by the large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Mu Shaoci let go of her hand, pulled out a chair, "Miss Shen, please have a seat."

Shen Lu looked down at her attire, feeling out of place here.

She pursed her lips and sat down, feeling embarrassed.

Mu Shaoci sat down across from her, took the menu from the waiter and placed it in front of Shen Lu, "You order. Order mine too."

Shen Lu nodded, opened the menu, and started ordering.

Knowing Mu Shaoci’s preferences well, she quickly made her choices.

Mu Shaoci’s lips unconsciously curled up.

The waiter nodded slightly and then retreated.

Shen Lu leaned in, asking softly, "Why is there no one here?"

Mu Shaoci also leaned in, whispering, "Something happened here, so everyone stopped coming."

"Something happened? What happened?"

Mu Shaoci pointed out the window, "A few days ago, someone from here..."

Shen Lu’s face paled, and she looked down at the ground.

Nearly a hundred meters high, with Neon lights flickering.

"And, what then?"

Mu Shaoci narrowed his eyes, "The last woman sat where you are sitting."

Shen Lu felt a chill, and quickly stood up, "Shaoci, I’m not hungry anymore, let’s go back."

Mu Shaoci watched as she was visibly frightened, stood up, and pulled her into a hug, "Scared?"

Shen Lu felt the place eerie, "Too scary. You knew something had happened, why did we still come here?"

Mu Shaoci gently stroked her back, "Look at you getting scared so easily, I was just kidding, what’s there to be afraid of?"

"Kidding?" Shen Lu pushed the man, "Why are you so boring?"

"I was wrong, I won’t tease you anymore, I’ve booked the place for us today."

Shen Lu glared at him annoyed, "You know I get scared easily and yet you still scared me, why are you so bad!"

Mu Shaoci kissed her on the tip of her nose, "I just wanted you to throw yourself into my arms. But things didn’t go as planned and I almost scared you away. Alright, go ahead and take a seat."

Shen Lu looked at her previous seat, "I don’t want to sit there, I want to sit together with you."

"Okay."

Shen Lu and Mu Shaoci sat side by side, but she was facing the seat she was sitting in before.

Every time she recalled what Mu Shaoci said, her body shuddered.

Annoyed, she punched the man’s arm, "I want to change seats, that was terrifying!"

Mu Shaoci laughed for a long time, letting her change her place and sit in a corner.

Seeing that she was truly frightened, Mu Shaoci sincerely apologized.

Since there was only their table in the restaurant, the ordered food was served quickly.

Mu Shaoci cut the steak into small pieces and handed them to Shen Lu, then he moved her portion in front of himself.

"Eat up, eat more, otherwise you won’t have the energy for later tonight."

It was a different kind of "exercise", Shen Lu didn’t respond, but her blushing cheeks revealed that she understood.

When it was time for dessert, the waiter brought up Shen Lu’s favorite strawberry cake.

At the same time, the melodious violin music started playing.

Shen Lu thought Mu Shaoci was so romantic; she was just his lover, matching well on the bed was already good enough, there was really no need for him to pamper her so.

Shen Lu looked into the man’s deep eyes and placed her hand on top.

Mu Shaoci pulled her into his arms, and the two embraced and danced slowly to the music.

Shen Lu wrapped her arms around the man’s lean waist, resting her cheek against his well-defined chest, listening to his strong and powerful heartbeat.

In that moment, she pretended the heartbeat was pulsing just for her.

She slowly closed her eyes, savoring this sweet moment.

She remembered a saying, "It doesn’t matter if it’s forever, what matters is having had it."

Humble and timid as she was, it wasn’t that she didn’t care, but rather that she didn’t hold the control.

Unconsciously, they danced one song after another.

Shen Lu didn’t realize when they had moved close to a floor-to-ceiling window.

Mu Shaoci released her and stood behind her, holding her.

Shen Lu was still confused.

Accompanied by a loud bang, a beautiful and dazzling firework exploded in the night sky, followed by countless more fireworks.

Shen Lu was astonished by the scene; she glanced sideways at the man’s handsome chin, "Is this for me?"

Mu Shaoci looked down at her, his eyes seemingly filled with emotions she couldn’t understand.

He spoke slowly and clearly, "Lulu, would you be my girlfriend?"
