Chapter 449: Chapter 449: Second Brother’s Romance 26
The man gently closed the door and tiptoed to the side of the bed.
In the moonlight, he greedily watched the woman’s graceful figure.
This was something he had always wanted but never attained.
He swallowed and slowly reached out his hand.
Lin Chu felt someone touching her face, and she woke up abruptly, only to see a man’s silhouette standing beside her bed.
She screamed in fright, "Who are you!"
The man sniffed, "It’s me, Chuchu, have you forgotten me so soon?"
"Chen Zhe? How did you get in?"
Chen Zhe rubbed his hands, "Of course I came in through the door. Chuchu, I’ve realized I still like you!"
Lin Chu crawled to the other side of the bed, "Get out! I’m calling for help!"
Chen Zhe narrowed his eyes, "Tell me, have you already done it with that Mu guy?"
"None of your business!"
"Tonight, I’ll just let you know how formidable I am! I’ll show you how wrong you were to leave me!"
Chen Zhe pounced over.
Lin Chu ran towards the door, but the man yanked her hair fiercely.
The pain of her scalp tearing brought Lin Chu to tears.
"Let’s see where you think you’re running off to!"
Lin Chu was enveloped in the man’s arms and dragged towards the bed.
She struggled and kicked.
Lin Chu was thrown onto the bed by Chen Zhe with force, and he immediately crawled on top of her.
At that moment, the door burst open, Mu Boyan rushed in and with a mighty yank, Chen Zhe was flipped onto the ground.
Then came the hard punches on Chen Zhe’s face.
At first Chen Zhe managed to resist a few times, but soon he lay silent on the ground, motionless.
The lights were turned on, and Mu Boyan, with blood-stained fists, stood in front of Lin Chu.
Still in shock, Lin Chu realized who had come only when she saw him clearly, and her entire being went numb.
"Chuchu, it’s me."
When Lin Chu saw that it was Mu Boyan, she threw herself into the man’s arms and burst into tears.
"Boyan, Boyan..."
"I’m here."
Mu Boyan felt extremely distressed. He shuddered at the thought of what could have happened to Lin Chu if he hadn’t impulsively come tonight—it was unbearable.
He was so very frightened.
He embraced her tightly, offering her a sense of security.
"It’s all over, it’s okay now."
At this moment, Shan ran in.
"What happened? Ah! Doctor Mu! Wow, what the hell is this?"
Shan took a closer look, "That looks like Chen Zhe! My God! What exactly happened here?"
Her mind worked quickly, and she soon guessed the gist of the situation.
Mu Boyan said, "Call the police."
Shan hurriedly took out her phone from the pocket of her pajamas and dialed the emergency number.
The incident caused a stir throughout the entire film crew; the director and other actors were also called to the police station to give their statements.
Chen Zhe, because he had been beaten into unconsciousness, was first taken to the hospital for treatment.
When Mu Boyan and Lin Chu finished giving their statements, the whole film crew waited for them at the police station’s entrance.
Everyone was worried about Lin Chu’s welfare; after all, the incident had made the other actresses also fear for their safety, so subsequent single rooms were turned into doubles.
The director repeatedly apologized, feeling a failure to keep the actors safe.
Actually, the incident wasn’t really the crew’s fault, only Chen Zhe was to blame for always following Lin Chu to Xincheng.
Mu Boyan made a decision in his heart; he would accompany Lin Chu for the next two months until her filming was complete.
After returning to the hotel, Mu Boyan booked a new room.
He sat on the edge of the bed, watching Lin Chu’s left cheek, which bore a striking handprint.
He lifted his hand and gently touched her, "Does it hurt a lot?"
Lin Chu shook her head, then nodded, leaning on the man’s chest, "If you hadn’t come tonight, I would have been finished."
"I’m sorry, I failed to protect you."
"You came in time. If I had really been violated tonight, I wouldn’t have known how to face you."
Mu Boyan held her face in his hands, "Chuchu, remember, no matter what, you will always be pure in my heart."
"But if it had really happened, I would no longer be worthy of you," Lin Chu said, as tears flowed.
"Silly girl, how could that be? I decide who is worthy of me," Mu Boyan hugged her and gently soothed her back, "I am so grateful that I came tonight. Chuchu, I have never been so thankful to myself, even though I’ve saved many lives before. If I couldn’t protect my own woman, what right would I have to save others?"
Lin Chu spoke through a heavy nasal voice, "Boyan, thank you for coming, even though you had ulterior motives."
Mu Boyan chuckled softly, "Yes, my intentions were not pure."
Lin Chu also chuckled, "But I’m glad you came."
Mu Boyan sighed lightly, "Alright, you need to sleep early; I will guard you by your side."
Lin Chu murmured in agreement and obediently lay down.
Mu Boyan also lay beside her, gently patting her to sleep.
Lin Chu soon fell asleep, but the fright had still gotten to her, sometimes causing her eyebrows to knit together tightly.
Mu Boyan gently smoothed her brow and held her close in his arms.
The next day.
When Lin Chu woke up, she did not see the man’s figure.
She felt bewildered, wondering if she had dreamt everything the night before.
But when she saw the suitcase beside her, she knew that Mu Boyan had really come, and everything that had happened was real.
The memory made her heart still quake with fear.
Just as she was about to make a call, the room door opened, and Mu Boyan walked in with a food container.
"I bought you some soup dumplings and seafood porridge."
Lin Chu went up to embrace him, "Thank you."
"You’ve thanked me many times, let’s eat first."
Lin Chu remembered there was a commencement ceremony this morning, "Oh no, I missed it."
"It’s okay, it was just a commencement ceremony. You have your first scene this afternoon, I’ll go with you."
Lin Chu was taken aback, "You’re not going back?"
"I’ll be with you for these two months."
"You don’t have to, I can’t delay your work."
Mu Boyan was adamant, "Chuchu, work is not as important as you. During this period, I will buy a house in this area, to make everyday life more convenient. Always eating out isn’t healthy."
Lin Chu still wanted to say something, but Mu Boyan vetoed it all.
After eating, they went to look at houses.
Mu Boyan bought a large apartment in the most bustling area of the city center, which had been decorated for over a year, but never lived in.
Although the decoration style was average, it was advantageous in that it was brand new, and had good floors and lighting.
Mu Boyan paid in full and immediately took care of the transfer, which was registered under Lin Chu’s name.
The 30 million-plus house was purchased in a snap, and Lin Chu was still dazzled by the splurge.
Mu Boyan then took Lin Chu to buy curtains, sheets, and other home furnishings, and had them washed and delivered.
Lin Chu stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows looking at the riverscape in front of the building, feeling as if it was all a dream.
Mu Boyan stood behind her, encircling her waist, "This is our home in Xincheng."
Lin Chu turned around and wrapped her arms around the man’s neck, "Boyan, did you come to see me last night wanting to talk?"
