Chapter 430: Chapter 430: Second Brother’s Romance 7

Lin Chu stood up and saw Mu Boyan holding a tray with rice, meat, and vegetables on it.

"May I use the kitchen for a moment?"

Lin Chu nodded, "Of course you can."

Shan supported Lin Chu as they followed Mu Boyan into the kitchen.

After washing his hands, Mu Boyan wiped them with a paper towel.

He then picked up a pink apron hanging on the wall and put it on.

The tall and upright man looked adorable in it, a stark contrast to his usual appearance.

Lin Chu remembered how Mu Boyan had fiercely beaten Chen Zhe just moments ago—it was incredibly cool.

In front of him, Chen Zhe seemed like a helpless chick, completely defenseless.

She must have been blind to have accepted that scumbag’s courtship, which had only caused her trouble.

The words of Mrs. Mu earlier that day had deeply moved her.

Although Mu Boyan was rumored to be the poorest in the Mu Family, with no company of his own unlike the others, it didn’t affect his good looks and talent.

Having saved her several times, Lin Chu felt he was truly kind and warm.

"Where is the pot?"

His question brought Lin Chu back to reality, "Oh, it’s in the cabinet below."

Mu Boyan opened the cabinet, took out a cooking pot and a frying pan.

He methodically washed the rice, added water, and started cooking porridge. Then, he proceeded to slice meat and vegetables and stir-fried them in the pan with oil.

Lin Chu silently watched from the side, admiring how beautiful his fingers were, especially the meticulous way he sliced the vegetables.

She thought he would look even more handsome holding a surgical scalope.

"Where is the cooking spoon?"

Lin Chu responded, "I’ll get it."

As she turned around and started walking, she suddenly slipped, and her body leaned backward.

Mu Boyan quickly extended his long arms and caught her by her slender waist.

At the same time, Lin Chu instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

Their eyes met, and Lin Chu’s eyelashes trembled slightly, feeling her face heating up.

A camera flash suddenly went off, and both turned towards Shan at the door.

Shan giggled foolishly, "Should I take a few more pictures?"

Mu Boyan gently lifted her up, with Lin Chu’s hands still around his neck.

"The porridge will stick to the bottom soon."

Lin Chu slowly lowered her hands, her face as red as a cooked shrimp, "Thank you."

Mu Boyan smiled lightly, "You’re welcome. I’ll get the cooking spoon."

Lin Chu stepped aside, and Mu Boyan took a cooking spoon from the drawer to stir the porridge.

The aroma filled the entire kitchen.

Lin Chu asked curiously, "I didn’t expect you could cook."

Mu Boyan hummed lightly, "I bought a house when I was studying abroad in Country B. I hired a housekeeper to do the housework, but I didn’t let her cook. I prefer to explore cooking myself. During that period, I learned quite a few dishes."

Lin Chu smiled, "It seems you really enjoy life."

"Yes, we only live once, so I never settle. That applies to life and even more to marriage. I won’t marry just for the sake of it."

Listening to his mellow voice, Lin Chu found it very soothing, like the sound of flowing water, making her feel comfortable.

She pursed her lips and stood beside him as he cooked the porridge.

Lin Chu felt this was truly a pleasure.

She grew up in an orphanage, where Aunt Director told her that she was brought in on a snowy day.

Just packed into a small cardboard box, dressed in little clothes, covered with a thin blanket.

When Aunt Director found her, her cries were faint, and her lips were purple.

She sent the young Lin Chu to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with pneumonia, and the doctors determined that Lin Chu was less than a month old at the time.

She was healthy otherwise, and only because of pneumonia, she stayed in the hospital for ten days.

Lin Chu grew up in the orphanage, but she had a cheerful personality.

She knew she was abandoned, but the kind-hearted Aunt Director provided her warmth like a parent and even sent her to school.

Lin Chu thought that the entertainment industry was lucrative and fast-earning, so she got into a film academy.

Because she was beautiful, she started receiving advertisements as soon as she was a freshman.

Honestly, many people wanted to exploit her, but she was quite staunch and refused to be taken advantage of.

As a consequence, she didn’t get access to good resources.

Luckily, in her junior year, she met a good director. He did not let another actress bring capital to join the group, and Lin Chu got the role and became famous for it.

It could be said that she genuinely overcame capital with hard work.

She successfully signed with Donghe Entertainment and became a leading actress, but still, due to the exploitation issue, she lost access to better resources.

As for why she has recently become popular again, it was because she was involved in a love triangle scandal and got negatively publicized.

By a twist of fate, she met Mu Boyan, and it turned out that they were neighbors.

She felt Mu Boyan was like a dazzling sun, and she was just a tiny star.

The star wanted to shine and lean on the sun.

Perhaps it was because of Xu Wanqing’s words or perhaps because Mu Boyan was immensely attractive to her.

Lin Chu pursed her lips, "Doctor Mu, if we pretend to be a couple, what if you miss out on someone better to marry?"

Mu Boyan laughed, "You need to get used to calling me Boyan, otherwise, it’ll give us away outside."

Though Lin Chu was a bit uncomfortable, she complied with the man’s wish and said, "Boyan."

Mu Boyan chuckled, "I don’t mind, really. Missing out just means there was no fate. My main worry is delaying you."

"Not delaying, not delaying," Lin Chu hurriedly waved her hand, "I just got involved in a scandal; who would deliberately get close to me? They’d rather stay far away. Besides, I’m just 23, no rush to find a boyfriend."

Mu Boyan, stirring the porridge pot, paused, "I didn’t realize I’m ten years older than you. People might say I’m robbing the cradle."

Lin Chu comforted him, "I think compatibility has nothing to do with age differences; it’s all about the feelings. If it feels right, things will naturally come together."

Mu Boyan glanced at her, then looked away, saying nothing.

Another ten minutes passed, then he turned off the heat.

A pot of fragrant porridge was ready.

Mu Boyan carried the porridge pot into the dining room and placed it on a heatproof mat, and Lin Chu followed with three bowls and three spoons.

Shan took photos of them on the side, capturing beautiful, warm, and romantic shots.

"You two together are really a perfect match!"

The corners of Mu Boyan’s lips barely lifted as he served the porridge, "Let’s eat together."

Lin Chu sat opposite Mu Boyan, with Shan sitting next to Lin Chu.

Shan tasted it, "Doctor Mu, if you weren’t a doctor, you could be famous as a chef; this is so delicious. Sister Chuchu, your fall wasn’t in vain. You get to eat such delicious food every day."

Lin Chu: "..." She really wanted to throw Shan out of the house.

Mu Boyan smiled, "While we’re pretending to be a couple, I’ll cook for you whenever I have the time."

Lin Chu found the word ’you all’ slightly disturbing.

After she felt a bit better, she considered sending this talkative assistant back to the company.
