Chapter 424 Second Brother Romance 1
Chapter 424: Chapter 424 Second Brother Romance 1
Hospital in midsummer.
Mu Boyan took off his gold-rimmed glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Lately, he had been feeling headaches and melancholia, ever since Mu Shaoci brought his wife and son home—he had been widely disliked by the family.
Especially by Mu Shaoze, who had just joyously welcomed a daughter, who called him an eternal bachelor.
Alright, he admitted it, that was true.
So, he was forced to start going on arranged dates.
He went on blind dates every night after work except Sundays, which were his alone, and he often had to do surgeries then as well.
Once a blind date failed, he would face all sorts of mockery.
Feeling immense pressure, he moved out and lived in an apartment he had bought years ago.
There were only two apartments on his floor, and no one lived next door, so it was usually quite quiet.
However, his peace didn’t last long—he soon had an annoying female neighbor.
She blasted her stereo and rocked out in the middle of the night, screaming endlessly.
He went out early and returned late, never having met her, only experiencing her harpy screams and dragon roars.
He suspected the woman wasn’t quite right in the head.
Adhering to a friendly neighborly principle, no matter how annoyed he was, he had never approached her.
He yawned, glancing at his watch—it was almost eleven—so he clicked his mouse, calling the last patient of the morning.
In the waiting area outside, a sound alert went off, calling the patient’s name.
A woman clutching a purse and wearing stiletto heels walked into the clinic.
The click-clack of her high heels caught his attention, Mu Boyan glanced at her, "Zhou Jiao?"
The woman took off her sunglasses but not her mask, blinking her large eyes which were accentuated by purple contact lenses, giving her an exotic look.
"Yes."
Mu Boyan asked, "Where do you feel discomfort, and how does it feel?"
The woman cleared her throat, "My heart aches, it really hurts. I think I might have heart disease."
"Normally, you should have an echocardiogram and we should test your blood and electrocardiogram," Mu Boyan said.
The woman blinked, "Is it that troublesome?"
Mu Boyan nodded, "It’s just some routine checks."
The woman frowned, "Can the results be obtained immediately?"
"At this time, you can still do an echocardiogram and electrocardiogram, but the blood tests would have the results ready by afternoon."
The woman hesitated.
Mu Boyan asked, "Ma’am, any other issues? If you decide on these tests, I’ll write you a slip. You can pay and then proceed."
The woman surveyed him skeptically, "Are you really the cardiology expert, Mu Boyan?"
Mu Boyan sighed lightly, "Yes."
"Alright then, write it."
Mu Boyan handed her the slip, "Go make the payment, you can still catch the doctors before they finish for the day."
The woman took it, then clicked away in her stilettos out of the office.
Mu Boyan didn’t dwell much on this little incident.
He stood up, washed his hands, and went to have his lunch.
In the afternoon, the woman returned for a follow-up.
She asked, "Doctor Mu, do I have a serious heart condition?"
Looking over her test results, Mu Boyan smiled, "You don’t have any symptoms, you are healthy. Are you under a lot of psychological stress?"
Enlivened, the woman said, "Indeed, I can’t control my urge to vent at night."
Mu Boyan thought for a moment, "Maybe you should see a psychologist."
The woman chuckled, "No need for that, I just need to let it out. Thank you, Doctor Mu."
"You’re welcome."
The woman left, and Mu Boyan continued by calling in the next patient for consultation.
Mu Boyan’s life was methodical, go to work, finish work, go home.
When it was time to leave, he changed into his own clothes and left the office.
Today was Monday, Xu Wanqing had set him up with a daughter from the He Family, so he was off to another blind date.
When he arrived at the café, the He family daughter hadn’t yet arrived.
He ordered a latte, savoring it slowly.
One had to say, the coffee here was good.
This was at least his fifteenth visit.
Just then, a slender figure entered the café, spotted Mu Boyan, and came over, greeting him.
Mu Boyan stood up, nodding slightly, "Please, have a seat."
He Tiantian, obviously pleased with the tall and handsome man, though a bit older, was satisfied given his prestigious status as the second son of the Mu Family.
Mu Boyan was particularly experienced in blind dates now.
"Please, have a seat."
"What would you like to drink?"
"I think we aren’t very compatible, so I won’t waste your time."
It could be said to be the fastest blind date in history, the date ended before she took even one sip of her coffee.
He Tiantian ordered a cappuccino, smiling, "I’ve heard about your quick rejections, but could I be an exception? Let’s have a meal together."
Mu Boyan choked, swallowing the words on the tip of his tongue.
He smiled, "Okay."
Truthfully, He Tiantian was beautiful, came from a good family, and fit the standards for a wealthy family’s daughter-in-law, but Mu Boyan found her rather bland and was uninterested.
He had never really encountered a woman that made his heart skip a beat.
He Tiantian was quite talkative, and out of his own politeness and upbringing, Mu Boyan just silently listened, not interrupting her.
He Tiantian asked, "Mr. Mu, I’ve been doing all the talking, could you say something?"
Mu Boyan deliberated extensively, "I won’t take a penny of the Mu Family’s wealth, nor do I wish my future wife to rely on the Mu Family. All the Mu Family’s wealth is for my younger sister."
He Tiantian was puzzled, blurting out, "Why? Why is all the Mu Family’s wealth going to your sister?"
Mu Boyan smiled slightly, "Because she is our most cherished younger sister. My eldest brother has his own company, my third brother has a film company, and my fourth brother has a software company, only I..."
He stopped there, just silently watching He Tiantian’s expression grow more disappointed.
He Tiantian stood up, "Mr. Mu, I’m sorry, but I think we are not compatible. Goodbye."
Mu Boyan watched her quickly leave, and couldn’t help chuckling.
Hmm, he hadn’t finished.
If He Tiantian had said she didn’t mind the situation, maybe they would have had a second meeting.
The next thing he intended to say was that he owned a biomedicine pharmaceutical company, primarily dealing with drugs and medical devices.
Well, quite profitable, the annual profits could be billions.
He slowly finished his coffee.
Looking at the half-drunk cup of coffee across from him, he chuckled lightly.
Seeking true love seemed somewhat difficult for him.
He paid the bill and left, returning home, where he made himself some spaghetti.
After eating, he received a call from Xu Wanqing, undoubtedly giving him a thorough scolding.
By now, he was numb to it, he could practically recite verbatim what Xu Wanqing would say.
But he listened to the scolding till the end before hanging up.
He sat in his study, read for a while, then did his nighttime routine, preparing to sleep.
Just as he lay down, the ghostly wailing and wolf howling singing started from next door.
Checking his watch, indeed, it was precisely a quarter past ten.
