Spoiled By My Ex-Fiance's Uncle -
Chapter 42: Did you kiss me on purpose?
Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Did you kiss me on purpose?
"Younger Uncle, thank you for saving me again." An Yan’s eyes were full of gratitude.
Fu Shiyan turned around, his tone light, "Do you not have any sense of self-rescue or survival?"
"What?"
"Didn’t you try to grab the fence to save yourself?"
An Yan thought to herself. Fu Shiyan was so clever; he had seen through her little scheme.
She took a step forward and stood behind the man, her voice nasal, "I caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of my eye, so I was distracted. It wasn’t until I fell into the water that I realized it must have been my hallucination. By the time I thought to save myself, An Yirou was pulling at my waistband toward the propeller. Younger Uncle, I felt so hopeless until you appeared before me."
An Yan’s explanation was somewhat convincing, and his appearance was indeed unexpected—even he found it incredible.
However, he was glad about today’s decision, considering the unthinkable consequences if An Yan hadn’t been rescued in time.
An Yan looked at the man’s shirt, stained with a faint hint of blood, and her heart tightened. She couldn’t help but reach out and loosely wrap her arms around his slender waist, pressing against his back, "Younger Uncle, your wound has gotten infected again because you saved me. I always cause you trouble. Won’t you hate me?"
Fu Shiyan looked down at the small hands around his waist, skin slightly wrinkled from being soaked in the seawater for a long time. He grasped her delicate wrist gently and slowly pulled it away, "No."
An Yan gripped his cold hand, "The wound soaked in seawater needs to be disinfected and medicated. Younger Uncle, let me apply the medicine for you."
Fu Shiyan, without a change in expression, withdrew his hand, "I can do it myself."
An Yan moved in front of him, "Younger Uncle, it really bothers me that you keep getting hurt because of me."
She blinked her clear, deer-like eyes, her reddened little nose making her appear all the more pitiable.
Fu Shiyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed, he looked away, and sat down on the leather sofa, undressing his shirt, "The first aid kit is in the cabinet on the left."
An Yan rushed to open the cabinet, took the first aid kit, and sat beside Fu Shiyan. She dipped a cotton swab in disinfectant and gently applied it to his wound.
"Does it hurt?"
"It doesn’t hurt."
"You’re lying, it must hurt a lot. Bacteria in the seawater can cause infections, inflammation, and even ulceration of the skin, worsening the wound," An Yan said softly, blowing gently on the wound.
Fu Shiyan stiffened, "What are you doing?"
"Blowing on it will make it hurt less."
"No need to blow."
"No, no, let me blow on it to relieve the pain."
Fu Shiyan turned his body and An Yan’s pursed lips directly touched the man’s firm abs.
The soft touch made the man freeze, as if numerous feathers were teasing at his heart’s tip, sending a tingling sensation exploding through him, causing him to breathe more heavily.
"Get up."
An Yan looked up at him, "I didn’t mean to kiss you."
"I know."
"Then, did you intentionally kiss me in the sea?"
Fu Shiyan realized then that the young lady was fishing for answers.
He said without a flicker of emotion, "You were severely lacking oxygen then. I was merely giving you air; you’re thinking too much."
"But you clearly puckered up twice..."
Fu Shiyan put his finger on her forehead, "You’re hallucinating."
Just then, Han Yang walked in and saw An Yan lying on Fu Shiyan’s abs.
The scene was too beautiful for him to imagine what had happened.
"Sorry, President Fu, I didn’t see anything."
Fu Shiyan pushed An Yan’s head away, his eyebrows knitted, "Don’t overthink it."
Han Yang’s eyes shifted, "Is it what I think it is?"
Fu Shiyan’s handsome face grew stern, "There is a project in Africa now that might be a good fit for you."
Han Yang immediately lowered his head, "President Fu, I came to bring you the ointment."
An Yan ran over cheerfully to receive it, "Thank you, Assistant Han."
"You’re welcome. I’ll step out now. Call me if you need anything."
An Yan nodded, watching Han Yang leave, then ran back to the sofa, "Younger Uncle, let me apply the ointment for you."
Fu Shiyan took the ointment, "I can do it myself, you can go back."
"Younger Uncle, you got hurt because of me, I can’t go back feeling uneasy."
An Yan watched as Fu Shiyan scooped some ointment with his fingertips and applied it to the wound.
She reached out to help him spread it evenly, "Younger Uncle, why did you come here suddenly? Weren’t you on a business trip?"
Fu Shiyan, reminded of the voice message he had received from Fu Chenyu, his expression grew colder, "There was an issue in Country M, the meeting has been postponed to three days later."
"Oh, I thought you came back because you were thinking of me..." An Yan peered at his furrowed brow, her dimples light, "thinking of the desserts I made."
"No."
An Yan leaned gently against Fu Shiyan’s back, "Younger Uncle, do you know, that day I was so excited, carrying cakes and cookies to see you, I even texted you, but you said those cruel words to me. It hurt me so much at that moment. I really thought you were fed up with me, and you even spoke harshly to me later. I didn’t expect you still cared about me, otherwise, you wouldn’t have rescued me in the time of danger."
Fu Shiyan’s brow furrowed deeply, he turned around, "What cruel thing did I say to you?"
An Yan blinked, "You texted me to take my cheap cakes and cookies and leave, and said you were tired of me."
Fu Shiyan’s eyes narrowed suddenly, recalling that day Jiang Nan had been in his office.
At that time, he spilled coffee on his shirt and went to the restroom to change clothes, giving someone the opportunity to delete the messages An Yan had sent him and to fabricate those false words.
He finally understood why An Yan always said her desserts were not cheap and maintained a distance from him.
The two had been misunderstanding each other all these days.
Fu Shiyan asked, "Then how did the cakes and cookies you made end up in Fu Chenyu’s hands?"
"With him?" An Yan was a bit surprised, "I gave them to the receptionist lady; I don’t know why they ended up with him."
Upon hearing this, Fu Shiyan had a rough guess in his mind.
"So, Younger Uncle, you were actually jealous, weren’t you?" An Yan asked, tilting her cute little head, her eyes mischievous.
Fu Shiyan denied, "I just thought you were someone who doesn’t keep her word."
"Hmm, let me think, Younger Uncle must still think I am a heartbreaker, preparing so many backups for myself."
Without admitting or denying, that’s exactly what Fu Shiyan thought.
An Yan explained, "That day you saw me with Young Master Bai at Moon Restaurant because he wanted me to help him reject the matchmaker’s candidate."
She moved closer to the man, "In my romantic world, there is only Younger Uncle, no one else catches my eye."
Listening to the girl’s words, Fu Shiyan stared at her unblinkingly, and after a moment said, "I’m sorry."
An Yan looked at the man’s sincere apology, momentarily stunned, "Younger Uncle, by saying that, do you also feel you’ve been particularly harsh to me these past days?"
Fu Shiyan softly hummed, "I’m very sorry."
"But I don’t want your apology."
"What do you want then?"
"I want you to like me." An Yan’s eyes brimmed with moisture, her fine facial fuzz endearing.
Fu Shiyan laughed softly, "You like me that much?"
An Yan nodded earnestly, "Yes, so I also want Younger Uncle to like me the same way."
"Younger Uncle, I’ve made up my mind." Fu Chenyu’s voice came through.
In an instant, Fu Shiyan maintained a certain distance from An Yan.
Fu Shiyan looked displeased at the approaching man, "What decision?"
Fu Chenyu looked at An Yan, "I have something to say to Younger Uncle."
An Yan looked deeply at Fu Shiyan, then got up and walked out of the cabin.
Fu Chenyu sat on the sofa, looking roguish, "I’ve decided to follow through with the agreement between the Fu Family and the An Family and get engaged to An Yan!"
