Chapter 356: Mu Shaoze Committed Suicide by Slitting His Wrists

Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Mu Shaoze Committed Suicide by Slitting His Wrists

Zhou Ziqiao’s heart suddenly stalled, her fingers tightly clutching the curtain.

This must be a trick, it had to be—he just wanted to stir up her sympathy and soften her heart.

She turned around and quickly clambered into bed, burrowing into the covers.

She wouldn’t fall for his ploy.

So strong and vigorous, how could he just drop like that?

She wouldn’t let her heart soften, not after he had been so ruthless and cold-hearted toward her.

She closed her eyes and began to count wolves.

(It was supposed to be sheep, but, well, better not to play the happy sheep right now.)

"One wolf, two wolves, three wolves..."

When she reached two hundred wolves, she fiddled with the blanket and then stretched it over her head.

In the living room, Father Zhou nearly lost his grip on his teacup as he saw Mu Shaoze collapse, coughing violently a few times.

Mother Zhou rushed over. "Oh, he really did collapse, didn’t he? Aren’t you going to go save him?"

Father Zhou huffed and set down his teacup. "I certainly won’t go and save him. This must be a trick, thinking of entering the Zhou Family door; what nonsense he’s concocting!"

He got up and left.

Mother Zhou looked at Mu Shaoze, motionless outside, her heart momentarily softened, but then, thinking of how he had wronged her daughter, felt he got what he deserved and similarly turned to leave.

The downpour continued relentlessly, as if the sky had sprung a leak.

Mu Shaoze had been in the same position for too long, and the puddle water had risen over his nostrils. He was close to suffocating.

He opened a slit in his right eye and, seeing the figures of Mother and Father Zhou disappear from the French windows, he quickly turned his face aside, gasping for air.

This was too cruel. Surely, someone would come out to save him.

He couldn’t believe they would leave him to die.

As time ticked away, Mu Shaoze felt his body temperature gradually dropping. He faintly felt someone lifting him.

In his stupor, he smelled disinfectant, and his hand felt a stinging sensation.

He tried to open his eyes but couldn’t manage to, no matter how hard he tried.

After what seemed an eternity, he gradually opened his eyes and was greeted by the sight of a blindingly white wall. Just as he thought to lift his hand, someone pressed down on his arm.

"Don’t move, the bleeding has stopped," said the nurse. "You had a high fever which has just started to subside two hours ago. You’re lucky you are strong; otherwise, it could have turned into pneumonia."

Mu Shaoze wrinkled his eyebrows. "Who brought me here?"

"Last night, an ambulance brought you in."

Mu Shaoze sighed. So his feigned crisis hadn’t worked; he let out a wry laugh.

But he wouldn’t give up.

Glancing at his hospital gown, he asked, "Who changed my clothes?"

"A male orderly," replied the nurse.

He leveraged himself up from the sickbed with his hands. The IV line started bleeding again, and he got out of bed and detached the needle, with blood splattering out.

The nurse blocked him. "You’re not finishing your IV? The fever could come back."

Mu Shaoze inquired, "Have the fees been paid?"

"They’ve been paid, and it seems several days’ worth of fees too," said the nurse. "Are you sure you’re leaving the hospital?"

Mu Shaoze hummed affirmatively and headed for the hospital room door.

The nurse hurriedly followed. "Your car keys are on the table."

Mu Shaoze glanced back to see the keys on the table.

He walked over, picked them up, and prepared to leave.

The nurse pursed her lips sheepishly and chuckled. "Aren’t you the ’Drenched Bubble Tea CEO’? May I take a photo with you?"

Mu Shaoze coldly uttered a refusal and stepped out of the ward.

He found his car in the parking lot, and upon entering, saw his phone on the passenger seat. Picking it up, he saw the family chat group ’One Family’ was flooded with over 99+ messages.

He checked the messages.

Mu Shaoci: I hear it’s been pouring in Bogelin State of C Country. I bet with fourth brother’s antics, he’d be out there in the rain playing the pitiful card.

Mu Boyan: +1.

Mu Qianfan: +1.

Fu Jinqiao: +1.

Mu Anyan: +1.

Xu Wanqing: +1.

Mu Hongsheng: +1.

Fu Mu’an: +1.

Fu Jinyan: +1.

Fu Shiyan: +10086!!! I guess it won’t work! But a friendly tip, only by being shameless can you get the wife’s affection!

...

Mu Shaoze rolled his tongue over his cheek. Were these really his family members?

No love left!

Especially this Old Dog Fu, too cutting with his words!

But the last sentence, pretty sound logic.

He drew a deep breath and started the car toward the Zhou Family Manor.

Only, this time he didn’t even get through the gate.

Tsk, somewhat irritable.

The gate was about a kilometer away from the villa inside. If he played self-immolation, they would need time to discover and rescue him. So, extreme measures were not an option.

But...

He glanced at the blood on the back of his hand and narrowed his eyes.

He got out of the car and positioned himself where the surveillance camera could see him, making sure not to make it look too deliberate.

He fell down feebly, with the blood-stained hand conveniently exposed in a conspicuous position.

Meanwhile, Father Zhou was drinking tea in the living room when he received a call from the security room, saying Mu Shaoze was at the carved gate committing suicide by slashing his wrists.

Father Zhou’s teacup dropped and shattered on the floor, with tea splashing onto his shoes.

Mother Zhou, carrying a fruit plate, saw this and gave him a look. "You’ve gotten Parkinson’s, can’t even hold onto a cup."

Father Zhou’s complexion changed dramatically as he stood up quickly. "Keep an eye on Qiaoqiao."

Mother Zhou sensed the severity of the situation. "Husband, what has happened?"

Father Zhou whispered in her ear, turning her face pale as well. "Go check on him quickly, don’t let it turn into a loss of life."

He nodded and quickly left the villa.

Bodyguards were already waiting outside in a patrol car.

Zhou Ziqiao descended the stairs just in time to see Mother Zhou anxiously standing before the French windows looking out.

"What’s wrong, Mother?"

Mother Zhou gasped and quickly turned around. "It’s nothing, nothing."

"Then why are you looking outside?" Zhou Ziqiao noticed Mother Zhou’s troubled expression and suspected something was wrong. She quickly walked over.

Concerned she might discover something, Mother Zhou quickly blocked her. "Oh come now, what could be wrong? Come eat some fruit. I’ve cut your favorite mangoes and grapes for you."

She led Zhou Ziqiao by the arm towards the sofa.

Zhou Ziqiao frowned. "Are you hiding something from me?"

"No."

"Hmm." Zhou Ziqiao walked with her towards the sofa but then suddenly, she shook off Mother Zhou’s arm and ran to the French window. Looking out into the distance, she saw a patrol car heading towards the gate, and there seemed to be a car outside the gate.

Zhou Ziqiao remembered that was Mu Shaoze’s car.

She turned and asked, "Did Mu Shaoze come? Did Dad take the bodyguards to beat him up?"

Mother Zhou stammered, "No."

Zhou Ziqiao knew Mother Zhou’s ears reddened when she lied, and now her ears were red.

"Mother, no matter what, you can’t just beat someone!"

Mother Zhou sighed. "No, your father didn’t go to beat someone, he went to save someone."

"What? Save someone? What happened to Mu Shaoze?"

Mother Zhou realized the incident couldn’t be kept secret and stamped her foot in frustration. "Mu Shaoze tried to kill himself by slitting his wrists!"
