Spoiled By My Ex-Fiance's Uncle
Chapter 350: From Now On, I Won’t Think About Him Anymore

Chapter 350: Chapter 350: From Now On, I Won’t Think About Him Anymore

Hua Country and C Country had a time difference of ten hours.

When Mu Shaoze arrived in Bogelin State of C Country, it was 5 o’clock in the afternoon local time.

He took the car keys handed to him by an airport staffer and drove towards the most luxurious seven-star Xili Hotel in the area.

Meanwhile, in the makeup room of Xili Hotel.

"Everyone says a woman on her wedding day is the most beautiful person in the world, and it’s truly the case," the makeup artist complimented as she pinned up Zhou Ziqiao’s long hair, revealing her snow-white neck.

Zhou Ziqiao looked at herself in the mirror but there wasn’t a hint of a smile on her face.

She forced a strained smile, "I want to be alone for a while."

The makeup artist didn’t quite understand her; after all, no bride would be unhappy on her wedding day, especially since she had heard that the Zhou Family and the Song Family were long-time friends, making the groom and bride childhood sweethearts.

But the affairs between rich families were often beyond the understanding of ordinary people.

The makeup artist nodded and left the room with her assistant.

Zhou Ziqiao’s eyes turned sour as she looked down at the snow-white wedding gown she wore.

She had once dreamt of what it would be like to become Mu Shaoze’s bride, just like now, dressed in a stunningly beautiful white dress with bright jewels embedded in her nails, truly blissful.

But now, she could hardly squeeze out a smile of happiness or joy.

A knock on the door sounded, and Zhou Ziqiao quickly dabbed at the moist corners of her eyes before sniffing, "Come in."

The door was pushed open, and in came Song Nanli.

Today, he was dressed in an azure blue suit, the trousers featuring clean, sharp creases, and his brown British-style custom-made calf leather shoes exuded an extraordinary refinement.

His fair complexion made the suit particularly flattering.

He walked over to Zhou Ziqiao and rested his hand on the back of her chair, "Are you ready?"

Zhou Ziqiao nodded, "I’m sorry, Nanli."

Song Nanli chuckled lightly, "What are you apologizing for? This is the best decision right now. Besides, you’re also helping me; this way, my family won’t force me to go on blind dates anymore."

Zhou Ziqiao looked up at him, "Will Saul understand?"

"Of course, he knows the reasons behind it. It’s just a matter of waiting three years, and by then, my family might come around to accepting him. Maybe after three years, they won’t press me anymore," Song Nanli patted her shoulder. "Cheer up, for the sake of the child, ok?"

Zhou Ziqiao hummed, "Nanli, I still need to thank you."

Song Nanli laughed, "Thank me for what? Though I’m the child’s uncle, he’ll have to call me dad, won’t he? I’m getting quite the bargain here. A child for nothing. Cheer up, don’t let the elders see anything off. I’ll go out and mingle."

Zhou Ziqiao said goodbye with a smile.

After Song Nanli left, she covered her eyes with her hands and couldn’t help crying softly.

She and Song Nanli had decided to get married the night before their last day in Hua Country.

That morning, Song Nanli came to her and suggested they visit the last tourist spot for a check-in, but Zhou Ziqiao began to slack off, saying she was tired and sleepy, urging him to go alone.

Song Nanli noticed she hadn’t had much of an appetite these past few days, and seemed sleepy.

A quick online search led him to ask directly, "Did your period come?"

Zhou Ziqiao, groggy, rolled over in bed with a yawn, "My aunt’s over in C Country babysitting her grandson, so no, it hasn’t come."

Song Nanli promptly lifted her out of bed, "I’m asking you if you’ve had your period or not?"

"No, I haven’t."

Song Nanli cursed softly, "Are you pregnant?"

That sobered Zhou Ziqiao up slightly as she tried hard to remember—indeed, her period hadn’t come this month. However, her menstrual cycle was always irregular, so a delay of a week was normal for her and she didn’t think much of it. Moreover, she had taken birth control pills after being with Mu Shaoze, so pregnancy was the last thing on her mind.

"It couldn’t be, right?"

"There’s a big difference between ’couldn’t be’ and ’couldn’t, right?’. Hurry up and get dressed, I’m taking you to the hospital to get checked."

"I’m not going; it’s too embarrassing. Just buy me a pregnancy test."

Song Nanli’s eyes widened, "You’re embarrassed, so I should buy it?"

Zhou Ziqiao pouted, "Wasn’t it you who bought me birth control pills?"

"So I deserve to be taken advantage of by you?"

"So are you going or not?"

Song Nanli was fuming, "I really am an enormous fool!" He stormed out.

Zhou Ziqiao began to feel apprehensive, starting to doubt and feeling that something so unlucky wouldn’t happen to her.

Not until Song Nanli returned with the pregnancy test did she check it in the restroom.

Five minutes later, staring at the two lines on the test strip, she felt utterly chilled to the core.

Song Nanli’s voice came from outside, "Ancestor, do you have the results yet?"

After quite a while, Zhou Ziqiao still hadn’t come out.

Song Nanli already guessed the situation and asked, "Do you want this child?"

Zhou Ziqiao opened the door with red-rimmed eyes, "I don’t want it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, please accompany me to the hospital. Right now, immediately."

"How about we just head back to C Country and then go to the hospital?"

Zhou Ziqiao shook her head, "No, I need to go to the hospital now."

Song Nanli knew how distraught she was, eager to sever all ties with Mu Shaoze immediately; she feared that once back in C Country, after taking some time to think, she’d find it hard to let go.

She was his close friend, so he respected all her decisions.

Thus, Song Nanli took Zhou Ziqiao to the hospital, and they got her registered.

After examination and based on the last menstrual period, Zhou Ziqiao was four weeks pregnant.

The doctor asked if she wanted to keep it, and Zhou Ziqiao firmly said no, wishing to have the surgery right away.

The doctor glanced at Song Nanli, "Are you sure?"

Song Nanli said, "I respect her decision."

The doctor didn’t look pleased, "Men today are so irresponsible, claiming to respect a woman’s choice, but in truth, they just don’t want the child. If a man doesn’t want it, how can a woman? Don’t do wrong, enjoy yourselves, and let the woman suffer!"

Song Nanli: "I’m truly the scapegoat! Taking all the blame for Doggie Mu’s mess!"

Zhou Ziqiao felt very embarrassed, "Doctor, the child isn’t his; he’s just my friend, accompanying me."

The doctor snorted, "The woman who came before said the same thing."

Zhou Ziqiao pressed her lips together, "Doctor, I did take emergency contraception afterward."

The doctor sighed, "Contraceptive pills are not one-hundred percent effective. I’ll schedule you for tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Zhou Ziqiao asked, "Can I have it done sooner? This afternoon!"

The doctor looked at her, "The type of abortion surgery that requires full anesthesia needs 4-6 hours of fasting beforehand unless you opt for the regular kind, which will be painful. Even for the regular procedure, you need to fast. Why are you in such a hurry?"

"I’m afraid I’ll regret it."

The doctor glared at Song Nanli and shook his head, "Abortion surgery is very damaging to the uterus, generally causing the endometrium to adhere, which impacts future fertility and lowers immunity. If you don’t want children at the moment, use contraceptive measures to avoid frequent abortions. Also, with an increase in abortions, habitual miscarriages can occur, which might lead to infertility. Men may not care, but women must protect themselves. So, we’ll do it this afternoon. I’ll write the order for you, and you can take the noon to think it over. Remember to fast, okay?"

Zhou Ziqiao clutched the surgical order and left the hospital with Song Nanli.

Returning to the hotel, Song Nanli bought steamed buns and other breakfast items, "Make do for now because later you can’t eat anything."

Zhou Ziqiao nodded and ate while her tears fell pitter-patter.

Song Nanli couldn’t bear to see her like this and went to the corridor to smoke.

During that time, he really wanted to call Mu Shaoze and curse him out, but then he thought, what good would beating up such a scumbag do? Wouldn’t Zhou Ziqiao still be hurt?

He came back into the room only after he guessed Zhou Ziqiao must have finished eating and found her asleep on the bed with tears still on her face.

He checked the number of steamed buns and saw that Zhou Ziqiao had only eaten two, leaving the porridge, eggs, and bread untouched.

He silently cleaned up the food containers and left.

In the afternoon, they went to the hospital, sitting on the bench outside the operating room.

There were quite a few people there for abortions, and they seemed very calm, probably not their first time.

She asked the person beside her, a little curious, "Will the surgery be painful?"

The woman said, "You could have general anesthesia. But it will still hurt afterward, more than menstrual cramps. How many weeks are you?"

"Four weeks."

"The pain will be less, then. It’s awful if it’s shaped up at three months." The woman leaned in to Zhou Ziqiao’s ear and described the remains of the abortion.

Zhou Ziqiao’s face turned instantly pale and she couldn’t recover for a long time.

The nurse called her name, but she didn’t hear.

Song Nanli patted her shoulder and softly said, "Qiaoqiao, it’s your turn."

Zhou Ziqiao broke out in a cold sweat on her forehead, she slowly stood up and followed the nurse into the operating room.

When the doctor told her to take off her trousers and lie on the operating table, she did as instructed.

Her legs were spread and fixed on supports, and the nurse connected her to the ECG and blood pressure monitor.

Zhou Ziqiao’s heart pounded like a drum and the doctor said, "Don’t be nervous, it’ll be over quickly because you’re not far along."

As the doctor was about to inject the anesthesia, Zhou Ziqiao cried loudly, "I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to."

The words the woman had shared with her made her lack the heart to proceed.

She got off the operating table, put on her trousers, and ran out.

When the door to the operating room opened, Zhou Ziqiao threw herself into Song Nanli’s arms, "Nanli, I don’t want to abort this child."

Song Nanli gently patted her back, "Then don’t abort, let’s keep it."

They returned to the hotel, Song Nanli told her to lie down and rest; he would go buy her food.

An hour later, Song Nanli returned with local specialties.

Seeing her eating ravenously, Song Nanli felt heavy-hearted.

After Zhou Ziqiao had eaten her fill, she wiped her mouth, "Is my face dirty?"

Song Nanli shook his head, "I’m just wondering if your decision not to abort is because you can’t let go of this child or because you still love Mu Shaoze."

Zhou Ziqiao thought for a moment, "I can’t let go of him for now, but more importantly, I can’t bear to part with this child. It’s not just his, it’s mine too."

Song Nanli nodded, said nothing, cleaned up the food containers, and left.

Zhou Ziqiao lay on the bed checking information about her pregnancy on her phone. At four weeks pregnant, there was no embryo or fetus yet, just a tiny gestational sac with a diameter of about 2 millimeters.

She didn’t regret keeping the child; she loved it and wanted to give birth to it.

That night, Song Nanli came into her room with a serious look.

"Do you plan to be a single mother?"

Zhou Ziqiao made an affirmative sound, "It’s okay, my parents can accept it."

"Marry me, to give the child a legitimate identity," he said.

Zhou Ziqiao looked at him, astonished, "Are you joking?"

"I’m not joking."

"What about Saul?"

Song Nanli fidgeted with his lighter, "I’ve talked to him; he agreed. But he wouldn’t be so magnanimous with any other woman."

"He really trusts me!" Zhou Ziqiao still felt guilty, "Marrying me would be unfair to Saul; the two of you love each other so much, I can’t be that selfish."

Song Nanli smiled faintly, "The family has been arranging blind dates for me, and I can’t take Saul back; they won’t accept him. It’d be better if you married me, to cover for me. In three years, we can separate—with the child legitimately acknowledged—by then if the family still can’t accept Saul, I’ll elope with him."

Hearing the man speak with such an air of ease, Zhou Ziqiao felt greatly moved. Song Nanli was doing all this for her; otherwise, why go through all this trouble? He said it just to ease her mind.

Thus, after returning to Hua Country, they informed both sets of parents about the situation.

Song Nanli’s parents were the happiest; not only would they become in-laws but also grandparents. They immediately set about arranging the wedding.

Zhou Ziqiao didn’t want to wait too long, so the wedding was scheduled for a week later.

Before she knew it, the wedding day arrived.

Zhou Ziqiao placed her hand on her abdomen and murmured, "From now on, I won’t think about him again."

Suddenly, the door was thrust open and a man dashed in, locking the door behind him.

Zhou Ziqiao’s eyes widened in astonishment, her pupils reflecting the man’s darkened face.
