Chapter 270: You Really Look Like Old Dog Fu

Chapter 270: Chapter 270: You Really Look Like Old Dog Fu

An Yan looked through the window, a row of incubators filled with tiny babies.

She was especially excited, for it was her first time seeing the babies since giving birth.

She and Xu Wanqing disinfected themselves, changed into protective suits, and went inside.

An Yan looked at the babies in the incubators, so small and soft, and felt a sourness at the tip of her nose.

She murmured the children’s names, "Fu Mu’an, Fu Jinyan, hello, I am your mom Mu Anyan. Today, I officially greet you both. Babies, hello."

Fu Mu’an had just finished his formula, and a small bubble appeared at his mouth.

The little bubble suddenly burst, seemingly upsetting him as he furrowed his little brows.

His features greatly resembled Fu Shiyan’s, and An Yan really wanted to touch him, to hold him.

Meanwhile, Fu Jinyan in the next incubator seemed upset about not getting his mother’s attention, his little face scrunched up as he began to cry with a milky voice.

Xu Wanqing laughed, "Look, they are competing for affection already. This little brother is definitely up to no good."

An Yan looked at Fu Jinyan; his little face was all red from crying, his little hands and feet flailing wildly, and his little pear dimples appearing and disappearing as he cried.

Since no one attended to him immediately, he stopped crying after a while.

Xu Wanqing clicked her tongue, "See, he’ll be a little trickster in the future. The elder one is steady, but the younger one is crafty."

An Yan’s hollow heart felt full.

She thought, what Shiyan couldn’t see, she’d see for him.

A week later, An Yan and the babies left the hospital and returned to the Mu Family home.

Zhou Yi, missing them, also moved into the Mu Family home.

Due to emotional stress, An Yan did not have breast milk, so the babies had to drink formula.

Without breastfeeding, An Yan had a lot of extra rest time.

All she had to do each day was to eat well, drink well, sleep well to recover, and during her spare time, she played with the babies.

As for feeding the formula, Xu Wanqing would come.

To change diapers, Zhou Yi would come.

To exercise the babies, Mu Hongsheng would come.

For bathing the babies, a few older brothers would come.

Every bath time, Xu Wanqing would start talking about Mu Shaoci and Mu Boyan’s matchmaking issues, saying that the dad skills were all practiced perfectly, and only a wife was missing.

Whenever they heard the talk of matchmaking, Mu Shaoci and Mu Boyan looked utterly despondent.

Mu Qianfan was the most complacent; after all, his wife was a done deal, just waiting for the legal age to get a certificate.

Although the babies were adorable, the favorite of both the Mu Family and Fu Family was still An Yan, a position irreplaceable.

An Yan, because of the heavy bleeding, had a deficiency of qi and blood, so her confinement meals were all about replenishing qi and blood.

In confinement, she added five pounds on top of the twenty pounds she had lost post-delivery.

The day she finished her confinement, An Yan took a good long bath with pleasure.

She blow-dried her hair and changed into a white sweater and casual pants before heading downstairs.

Xu Wanqing and Zhou Yi, each holding a baby, sat on the living room couch burping them.

An Yan walked over and sat between them.

She first took Fu Mu’an from Zhou Yi’s arms, the little guy looking at her with his dark eyes, puckering his little mouth.

An Yan kissed his little face, "He looks just like Ayan, exactly the same."

Zhou Yi turned her head away, took a deep breath, and then exhaled, "Yan, we’ve been searching for a whole month; I guess there’s not much hope."

An Yan smiled at her, "As long as Ayan isn’t found, he’s still alive. I believe he’s still alive, and I ask you all to believe it too."

She said to Fu Mu’an, "Anan, you agree, right? Daddy will come back to find us one day."

Fu Mu’an’s expression suddenly turned serious, his little mouth puckered, his little legs stiffened, and then he strained.

An Yan laughed, "Anan is showing his agreement by pooping."

Zhou Yi burst out laughing, "He really does resemble Shiyan as a child, poop right after eating. Let me take him, I’ll go change his diaper."

Zhou Yi took Fu Mu’an to change his diaper, giving An Yan a chance to hold Fu Jinyan.

Fu Jinyan blinked his round eyes and cooed.

Xu Wanqing was delighted, "Look at that sly expression, chatting away so young. He will definitely be eloquent in the future, and he’ll steal many a young girl’s heart."

An Yan chuckled lightly, "You make it sound like our Yanyan is some kind of player. Good thing we didn’t name him Fu Shenxing; that’s a character burdened with half the criminal law in novels."

Xu Wanqing clicked her tongue again, "I’ve read that novel. If the baby had that name, I would be the first to disagree."

Fu Jinyan cooed again as if in agreement.

His little mouth stretched into a smile, revealing his soft pink gums, melting hearts.

Xu Wanqing, worried about An Yan getting tired, took Fu Jinyan, "Let me hold him instead."

"I’m not tired," An Yan responded.

"Still, you need to rest more, or else your body, having undergone such a major surgery, might develop chronic issues," Xu Wanqing stood up. "I’ll put the baby to sleep. If you’re fine, go upstairs and rest."

An Yan smiled, "If I rest any more, I’ll start to mold and grow hairs."

As Xu Wanqing was ascending the stairs, she said, "You should rest more, otherwise, you’re going to be exhausted when all the relatives and friends come to bring gifts for the babies’ full-month celebration tonight."

An Yan sighed lightly.

Since Fu Shiyan could not be found, the babies’ full-month celebration was canceled.

Still, some close friends and family wanted to come and offer their blessings, and it was not good to turn them away.

By evening, many relatives and friends had arrived.

Bi Mang, Lu Yun, Bi Zhan, and Bi Chong also rushed over from Xiangcheng.

They had not expected An Yan to deliver prematurely and also suffer a major hemorrhage. They were incredibly heartbroken upon hearing this.

Upon hearing that something had happened to Fu Shiyan, their hearts were full of pain.

Bi Chong felt that An Yan did not let him partake in anything, which caused him some resentment, but knowing it was for his benefit, he let it go.

Tonight, the two little ones were the stars, already surrounded by people.

An Yan watched the two little ones lying amidst a pile of gifts and instantly felt they were like two gold-swallowing beasts.

Some brought Jade Ruyi, others gold bracelets; there were also famous paintings, porcelain, diamonds, and more—everyone brought two gifts each.

Su Yue, linking arms with An Yan, said, "Baby Yan, these two little ones of yours can really rake in the gold! If you did nothing else, that would be the life of a winner."

Fu Jinqiao leaned in, "Indeed, that’s the life I envy! I want to have twins too!"

Su Yue teased her, "Jinqiao, are you giving gifts as an aunt or as a sister?"

Fu Jinqiao pursed her lips, "Of course, as an aunt! Being a sister is much lower in status! Besides, if they call me sister, wouldn’t my third brother become a brother-in-law? If those two little ones call my big brother and second brother as uncles, then my third brother would be out of order!"

Fu Jinqiao made sure the familial hierarchy was clear, afraid of being shortchanged.

Su Yue looked at An Yan and the two babies, still feeling melancholic, as it was indeed hard for a woman to raise two babies alone.

Even though many people were helping, a father’s love was irreplaceable.

An Yan, seeing Su Yue being sentimental again, patted her hand, "Don’t worry! Until Ayan comes back, I will fulfill the roles of both mother and father."

Su Yue deeply admired An Yan’s perseverance, which made her also believe that Old Dog Fu would come back one day.

Just then, a figure appeared at the doorway.

An Yan looked past the crowd and walked briskly toward him.

"Shaoze."

Mu Shaoze, whose originally fair skin had turned dark, with unshaven beard and wrinkled lips, looked like he had returned from a famine.

He gazed at An Yan, his smile straightening into a line, his eyes reddening.

An Yan understood that the efforts of the past month had yielded no results.

Still, she stepped forward and embraced Mu Shaoze, "Shaoze, you’ve had a hard time, welcome back home."

Mu Shaoze hugged An Yan back, his voice choked up, "Little Five, I’m sorry."

An Yan looked up and smiled, "What nonsense are you saying? You’ve done your best. Come and take a look at Anan and Yanyan."

Mu Shaoze held back tears, nodded, and followed An Yan to the small bed in the living room.

Two adorable babies were lying on the bed, kicking their legs about, busily chewing on their hands, even making a sucking noise.

He was about to touch the babies’ little hands but then withdrew, "I’m too dirty. Let me go upstairs and clean up before coming down."

The figure of Mu Shaoze going upstairs seemed particularly lonely, and no one knew how he had spent the past month.

He always felt if he had arrived at the cliff earlier, he could have prevented Fu Shiyan from getting hurt and the subsequent events of being injected and jumping off the cliff.

He was frustrated and blamed himself.

This past month, he ate poorly and slept poorly, searching for Fu Shiyan in the sea every day.

Every day at dawn, he would motivate himself, telling himself not to give up, for Little Five and the babies.

But as night fell, when the efforts of the day brought no results, his spirits would sink.

In his dreams, he saw Fu Shiyan resolutely jumping off the cliff.

He would often wake up startled.

The Soli Sea Area, the surrounding islands, he had searched all, but there was no sign of Fu Shiyan.

He dared not tell An Yan, for he suspected that Fu Shiyan had been eaten by sharks.

This was simply too cruel.

He showered, shaved his beard, and dressed in a comfortable suit before descending the stairs.

Looking at the two little ones, he first picked up Anan, the little guy’s eyes pitch-black, spirited.

Mu Shaoze looked at his features, feeling the urge to cry, "You really look like Old Dog Fu. Quite handsome, handsomer than your fourth uncle."

He kissed Anan’s cheek, "If anyone bullies you in the future, just come to your fourth uncle. A tap of my finger, and I’ll bankrupt them."

When the people present heard the words ’Old Dog Fu,’ they all silently turned to look at An Yan.

An Yan curved her lips, "Ayan will come back."
