Chapter 23: Chapter 23 She Felt Uncomfortable
An Yan raised his eyebrows, "Is there something?"
"You seem quite pleased, don’t you?" An Yirou’s eyes were filled with anger and hatred, "Why didn’t you say there was a recording earlier? Wasn’t it just to embarrass me?"
"Did I ask you to come here? Did I ask you to commit perjury?" An Yan sneered, "But if I had told you about the recording earlier, could we have had this wonderful drama today?"
She stepped forward and toyed with the small white flower on An Yirou’s chest, "I’m really looking forward to seeing what you look like after the announcement at school. Keep up your skills as a Pretentious Woman and Green Tea Bitch; I find it quite refreshing when you get slapped in the face."
An Yirou: "..."
An Yan no longer paid her any attention and turned to walk out of the school gate.
Unexpectedly, the drizzling rain suddenly turned into a downpour, and An Yan ran all the way to a bus stop, hugging her bag.
She wiped the rainwater off her cheeks, grateful that she had removed her heavy makeup, or else she would have ended up with a terribly smeared face.
She wanted to hail a cab, but not a single one stopped.
After a while, a Mercedes stopped in front of her.
The back window rolled down, and An Yirou hooked her lips, "Sister, do you need a ride from me?"
"It’s out of the way. You go on your road to hell, I’ll take my sunny path!"
An Yirou realized that An Yan’s mouth could really be venomous. She took a deep breath, "Are you going to see Young Master Li? It seems like good things are coming your way too!"
An Yan felt she was really noisy, "Whether my good things are near or not, I don’t know, but I do know that yours are close, and I’ll definitely send you a big gift then."
Upon hearing this, An Yirou could no longer smile; she knew An Yan had always been resentful towards Fu Chenyu. Her words indicated that the ’big gift’ wasn’t something An Yirou would look forward to.
She rolled up the window and told the driver to leave quickly.
An Yan watched the car disappear into the rain, and took a long breath of relief.
Soon after, she hailed a taxi and left.
Meanwhile, a black Maybach also slowly drove off not far from there.
Fu Shiyan suddenly remembered the words the girl had said looking up at him.
"Younger Uncle, from this deadly angle, you still look handsome, your nostrils are out of this world."
"Younger Uncle, are you going to provide for me? I’m very low-maintenance!"
Nostrils out of this world?
What kind of compliment is that?
Are you going to provide for me?
She had the gall to say that!
Fu Shiyan’s eyes darkened, heh, provide for her?
After returning home, An Yan went to the kitchen to make herself a bowl of spring noodles.
She arranged the dish, took a picture, and posted it on her social media with the caption: Heard that spring noodles and rainy weather go well together!
Of course, this post was visible to only one person.
After eating, she started the huge task of making cakes and cookies.
At the same time, Fu Shiyan opened his social media and saw An Yan’s latest post.
Looking at the spring noodles in the picture and then at the lobsters on his plate, he suddenly felt that the delicious delicacies were not tasty anymore.
He suddenly remembered that the girl had said she would make him cakes and cookies.
He slightly raised an eyebrow, wasn’t he supposed to be very angry with her?
Why does it seem... he can’t get angry?
An Yan made a set of afternoon tea boxes and a jar of multi-flavored cookies.
When she arrived at Fu Corporation Mansion, it was already 4:30 PM.
She didn’t contact Assistant Han, but sent a message directly to Fu Shiyan.
: Younger Uncle, your little cutie has arrived with cakes and cookies, please sign for them!
Attached a photo!
She looked at her phone, waiting for Fu Shiyan’s reply.
The vibration sounded.
An Yan opened it, and her smile froze.
fsy: Take your cheap cakes and cookies and go back, I am very annoyed with you.
An Yan pursed her lips, having to admit that she felt hurt.
It was not just the words ’annoyed’, but also ’cheap’.
Perhaps in Fu Shiyan’s eyes, her methods were despicable and low.
Previously he had not shown his annoyance toward her because he was well-mannered, but now he was worried about her clinging onto him, so he lashed out directly.
Her fingers tightened around the handle of the bag, feeling as if her self-esteem had been severely trampled.
She took a deep breath, walked up to the receptionist, "Knowing each other is fate, this is for you to eat." After saying that, she walked out of the mansion without turning back.
With a loud rumble, the heavy rain fell.
An Yan stood by the roadside, letting the large raindrops hit her head, the rainwater dripping down her delicate nose...
This scene was seen by Fu Chenyu not far away; he hooked his lips and approached the reception desk.
The receptionist respectfully said, "Young Master Fu."
Fu Chenyu stretched out his hand, "That bag just now, it was from my fiancée."
The receptionist, bewildered, had no choice but to hand it over, losing what she thought was already secured.
In the president’s office.
Fu Shiyan walked out of the lounge with an unhappy expression, adjusting his shirt collar.
Seeing the woman approaching, a chill flashed through his eyes.
"Why are you still here?"
"Shiyan, I’m sorry; I didn’t do it on purpose just now," said Jiang Nan, her eyes full of caution as she observed the dazzling man who commanded her attention.
Fu Shiyan glanced at her coldly, "Do I need to check the surveillance to see if you intentionally spilled coffee on my shirt?"
Jiang Nan had thought to spill coffee on the man’s shirt and then help wipe it off to create physical contact, but she hadn’t expected that Fu Shiyan would push her to the ground, staunchly resisting her touch.
Wiping her tears, she asked, "Shiyan, do you really hate me that much?"
Sitting in his executive chair, Fu Shiyan pressed the intercom and said sternly, "Come in."
Han Yang arrived in two seconds, "President Fu."
"From now on, without my permission, no one is allowed in my office."
Han Yang glanced at the sobbing Jiang Nan and nodded, "Yes."
"Miss Jiang, please."
Jiang Nan looked at Fu Shiyan’s icy face, bit her lip, and stormed out in frustration.
As she walked out, she saw Fu Chenyu approaching with a spring in his step, holding a transparent plastic bag, the very one she had just seen in Fu Shiyan’s WeChat.
Her mind raced, Wasn’t this meant for Fu Shiyan?
How did it end up in Fu Chenyu’s hands?
She approached him, "Chenyu."
"Sister Nan, are you here to see my younger uncle?"
Jiang Nan softly hummed and then tentatively asked, "Is this the dessert you bought for your younger uncle?"
Fu Chenyu lifted the bag in his hand, "No, this is from my fiancée."
Fiancée?
Jiang Nan’s eyes shifted, When did An Yan become his fiancée again?
But it didn’t matter, as long as she had no connection to Fu Shiyan.
Last time at the Moon Restaurant, she had seen Fu Shiyan dining with a girl, who after investigation turned out to be Fu Chenyu’s fiancée, An Yan, even though Fu Chenyu had fallen for the An family’s stepdaughter.
She was worried about Fu Shiyan being with An Yan, so she wanted to win over this unreachable flower as soon as possible.
Today she had made herself particularly appealing to seduce Fu Shiyan, but the man didn’t take the bait, and even insulted her instead.
When Fu Shiyan was changing his clothes, a WeChat message came on his phone screen. When she opened it, it was indeed from An Yan.
She utterly despised An Yan, who after being cheated on started seducing someone’s younger uncle—utterly shameless!
She impulsively deleted that WeChat message and replied with something that could break the sender’s heart, maybe even push them to give up completely.
But clearly, the bag that was supposed to be for Fu Shiyan was now in Fu Chenyu’s hands, and he even said it was from his fiancée, evidently not conveying it to Fu Shiyan.
There were some twists and turns in this situation.
Anyway, as long as it didn’t end up in Fu Shiyan’s hands, it was fine!
A gleam flashed in her eye, fortune was indeed helping her!
Jiang Nan smiled smugly, "It seems, Chenyu, your good news with the An family’s daughter is imminent."
Fu Chenyu nodded, "When the engagement party happens, I’ll definitely invite you, Sister Nan."
Jiang Nan responded cheerfully, pleased with herself as she left.
Fu Shiyan was checking his phone for any new messages but found none.
He glanced sideways at the floor-to-ceiling windows, where raindrops struck the glass with a loud pitter-patter.
He wondered if she had brought an umbrella?
Could she have been stranded somewhere by the rain?
He traced An Yan’s name with his fingertip, about to make a call, when someone knocked on the door.
Fu Chenyu then entered, "Younger uncle."
Fu Shiyan’s gaze fell on the paper bag, his eyes unflinchingly calm, his voice detached and cold, "What is it?"
"Next weekend is grandma’s birthday, right? I was at the auction house when I got a call from An Yan. She said she had something to give me," Fu Chenyu said as he sat on the sofa and opened the bag, pulling out a tea box and a cookie jar.
He chuckled, "She said she had sorted out her feelings and was ready to be with me, sending some cakes and cookies to show her affection. She’s really something."
He looked at Fu Shiyan, "Younger uncle, would you like a taste?"
"No need." Fu Shiyan pressed the intercom, "Don’t cancel tonight’s schedule."
Fu Chenyu popped a piece of chocolate-flavored cookie into his mouth, "Younger uncle is busy tonight, then I’ll head out first."
Watching Fu Chenyu leave, Fu Shiyan leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping the armrest lightly.
Something seemed off.
If it was really meant for Fu Chenyu, why bother saying it was for him?
He dialed An Yan’s number, but her phone was off.
Watching the heavy rain through the window, he felt a stifling feeling growing within him as he took car keys from his drawer, grabbed his suit jacket from the coat rack, and left the office.
The black Bentley left the underground garage, its windshield wipers moving rapidly.
Fu Shiyan gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles gently tapping as he increased speed toward Bishui Bay.
Meanwhile, An Yan sneezed in the back seat of a taxi, sniffing as her nose seemed a bit stuffed.
The driver looked over from the rearview mirror, "Seems like you’ve caught a cold, drink some ginger soup when you get home."
An Yan looked up smiling, "Thank you, driver."
The car stopped at the entrance of her apartment complex, An Yan checked her phone, which had turned off automatically.
She rummaged through her purse for a hundred yuan note, "Keep the change, consider it a car wash fee."
After getting out, An Yan walked toward the apartment entrance.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm.
