At two in the morning, Jiangcheng was still bustling and noisy.

Neon lights, streetlights, and car headlights turned the city into one that never sleeps.

An Yan yawned, pulled her jacket tighter, and buried her small face into the collar, revealing only her round, glistening eyes.

"Let’s take a nap first," said Fu Shiyan, looking at her.

An Yan shook her head, "No, let’s enjoy the night view."

It was half an hour later when the two arrived at the emergency room of the hospital.

Teng Rui lay in a hospital bed with an IV drip, her face still flushed with a ruddy glow.

Hearing the footsteps, she opened her eyes, somewhat surprised, "Boss, you’re here. Was it that bastard Bai Qinghan who called you? That clueless jerk is bothering you while you’re pregnant!"

Hearing Teng Rui curse him so, An Yan understood that Bai Qinghan must have offended her.

Teng Rui tried to sit up but was pressed back down by An Yan, "What exactly happened?"

Teng Rui recounted her story, "After we split up, I went to a bar.

Some thug tried to harass me, so I broke his hand. He then called some more guys over, and Bai Qinghan came to help with his friend.

But later I found out Bai Qinghan had been following me all along.

I started feeling unwell after leaving the bar.

Bai Qinghan shoved me into his car, and I might have lost control of myself after that, acting a bit forward.

Bai couldn’t hold back and stopped the car at the roadside and came to the backseat.

He wanted to knock me out to take me to the hospital, but ended up hitting me on the head several times, and I’ve still got bumps on my head!

A patrol car happened to pass by and the officers, noticing something odd in the car, opened the door to find my abnormal state and Bai Qinghan’s attempt to use force on me.

The officers took me to the hospital for stomach pumping and an IV. I gave a statement after I sobered up."

"But did you tell the officers that Bai Qinghan was trying to assault you?"

Teng Rui hummed in affirmation.

An Yan rubbed her forehead, "So, Bai Qinghan saw that you were causing quite a ruckus, which made it hard for him to drive, and that’s why he wanted to knock you out and take you to the hospital for treatment?"

Teng Rui pouted, "It’s his fault for giving me such a big lump on my head."

She opened her mouth, then hesitated.

Fu Shiyan knew she had something to say to An Yan, so he turned and walked out of the emergency room to wait outside.

Teng Rui sighed, "Boss, do you remember when I was attacked in Jinge and Bai Qinghan saved me?"

An Yan nodded.

Teng Rui continued, "He pretended to be intimate with me in the car to fool the mercenaries hunting for me, but he actually stole my first kiss. Even though he saved me, there was no need for a real kiss!"

An Yan immediately understood Teng Rui’s feelings; it turned out the young girl had always been nursing a grudge.

This time, it was simply an excuse to get him into trouble with the police, to teach him a lesson.

An Yan laughed, "I understand what kind of person Bai Qinghan is. Although he’s indeed a bit of a playboy, he would never force himself on someone or take advantage. Those mercenaries aren’t so easily fooled; Bai Qinghan must have had no choice. Teng Rui, I get how you feel, but today we have to stick to the facts and not falsely accuse him."

Teng Rui gave a small acknowledgment, then glanced at the IV bag, which was almost empty.

"Then I’ll go to the police station and correct my statement."

An Yan laughed and helped her remove the needle, "Press on it, or it will bleed."

Teng Rui hummed softly, "I know."

An Yan supported her out of the emergency room, looked at Fu Shiyan, "We’re off to the police station to get Bai Qinghan."

Fu Shiyan nodded, supporting An Yan as they walked out.

Three of them walked side by side, each holding onto another, which added a touch of humor to the scene.

At that moment, Bai Qinghan sat on the interrogation chair, clenching his hair as he vented his anger.

A junior officer smirked, "Stop it, you might lose your hair."

Bai Qinghan pressed his brow and heaved a sigh.

Suddenly, he looked up, "Do you believe me or not? Don’t you know what kind I prefer? If I just snapped my fingers, those hotties would line up from the south of the city to the north. How could I have designs on a girl who hasn’t even developed properly? It’s an insult to me!"

His words came out fast and furious, and the last two sentences were heard word for word by Teng Rui as she entered the room.

Their eyes locked, both shifting from stunned to blazing with fury.

Bai Qinghan, "I’ve saved you twice, you ungrateful wolf!"

Teng Rui snorted, "You took advantage of me twice!"

The interrogation room fell silent in an instant.

Half an hour later, Teng Rui had calmed down enough to make a new statement.

Bai Qinghan finally breathed the fresh air of dawn and felt profoundly relieved, "I’ve come back to life."

The two started bickering again.

Fu Shiyan pulled An Yan’s coat tighter around her, "Let’s go. Bai won’t leave Teng Rui behind."

An Yan looked at the two quarreling nonstop, shook her head, and got in the car with Fu Shiyan.

Only after their fight had subsided did they realize Fu Shiyan and An Yan had long since left.

Teng Rui glared at Bai Qinghan and strode off toward the street.

Bai Qinghan called after her, Teng Rui didn’t turn back, instead picked up her pace.

He didn’t bother with her and got into his car.

She slowly crouched down, clutching her stomach.

Bai Qinghan shot back, "If you insult me again, I’ll let you see how a silkworm pupa turns into a behemoth!"

Hobbled by a painful stomach, Teng Rui stopped bantering with him.

Meanwhile, Fu Shiyan and An Yan had returned home, when Director Li’s phone call came in.

He said that An Yingying had self-harmed and was now being treated at the hospital.
