Chapter 217: Family Recognition Banquet 2

Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Family Recognition Banquet 2

The banquet hall at the Wanjiang Banquet shimmered with gold and brilliance, extravagant to the extreme.

The fragrance of fresh flowers and champagne permeated the entire hall.

Men clinked glasses, while ladies were dressed to the nines with their fine clothes and elegant hairdos.

They were all discussing today’s protagonist, the beloved daughter of the Mu Family.

"I heard the Mu Family has been looking for this child for several years, and they’ve finally found her."

"Yes, it really wasn’t easy. Mrs. Mu previously fell into a coma after falling into the sea, and it’s a good thing Divine Doctor Y was called to operate. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to see her own daughter."

"What happened to that impostor, Mu Yingying? My daughter is in the same class as her, and I haven’t seen her for a long time."

"My husband works in the police station, and I heard that Mu Yingying seems to be involved in several murder cases, and she’s going to be sentenced to death at the end of the month."

"Murder? What’s the situation here?"

"I’m not sure of the details, I just heard about it."

...

In the makeup room.

An Yan sat at the dressing table, fretting over the five evening gowns laid out before her.

They were gifts from her four brothers and her husband, and she didn’t know which one to pick.

It was then that Xu Wanqing pushed the door open and entered.

An Yan’s glum expression brightened up instantly, "You’re here?"

Su Yue, Teng Rui, and the makeup artists in the makeup room all greeted Xu Wanqing.

Xu Wanqing also smiled and responded to them.

Seeing the troubled look on An Yan’s face, she handed over a bag, "Can’t decide which one to choose? Then wear the one your mom gave you."

An Yan laughed, "Thank you, Mom."

"Silly child, there’s no need to thank your mom."

"Mom, you’ve solved my dilemma, otherwise none of the five of them would have been happy."

Xu Wanqing caressed her little face, "I couldn’t do much for you in the past twenty-one years, let me worry for you for the rest of my life."

"Okay," An Yan’s eyes reddened.

Xu Wanqing kissed An Yan’s forehead, "Be a good girl and get ready. Mom will step out first."

An Yan nodded obediently. Her usual resilience crumbled in an instant. In front of her mom, she was just a little girl.

Su Yue took a tissue to wipe her tears, "All right, all right, don’t get too excited."

"Yeah, I’m not excited anymore."

Su Yue snorted, "Lies, I’m excited for you."

An Yan couldn’t help but laugh, "Then what do you want me to do?"

Su Yue also dabbed her own tears, "I’m just happy for you, you’ve had such a tough time all these years."

An Yan handed her a tissue to wipe her tears, "It’s all in the past, isn’t it? Be happy, it’s not the time to cry yet."

Su Yue looked at An Yan and blinked knowingly, nodding her head in agreement.

An Yan turned to the makeup artist, "Please help me with my makeup."

The makeup artist, while applying makeup, exclaimed, "Miss Mu has such great skin and without a single flaw on her features, a light makeup will do."

An Yan politely said thank you.

Su Yue watched An Yan infatuatedly, sighing, "Baby Yan, you truly look like a fairy descended from heaven, absolutely stunning."

An Yan stifled her laughter, "Can you not exaggerate so much?"

Su Yue shrugged, "I can’t help it."

An Yan smiled helplessly.

Su Yue pouted, "Old Dog Fu is really getting a bargain."

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

Fu Shiyan pushed the door open just in time to hear this remark, his eyebrows knitting together briefly before relaxing almost immediately.

Pretending he heard nothing, he looked at An Yan’s beautiful features, "Yanyan, you’re so beautiful today."

An Yan hooked her lips into a smile, "Thank you."

Fu Shiyan looked toward the makeup artist, "You’ve worked hard, go to the banquet hall and have something to eat."

The makeup artist nodded, "Thank you Mr. Fu, Miss Mu."

"You’re welcome."

Watching the makeup artist close the door, Fu Shiyan whispered, "Everything is ready; we’re just waiting to catch the turtle in the jar."

An Yan nodded, "We must ensure everyone’s safety."

Fu Shiyan hummed softly, "Don’t worry."

Teng Rui, who had been sitting in the corner, stood up and walked to An Yan’s side, "Finally, it’s my turn to take the stage."

An Yan held her hand, "Thank you."

Teng Rui smiled, "My life was saved by you, so I’m the one who should say thank you. Besides, it’s an honor to be you for one night."

...

The makeup artist walked toward the banquet hall when suddenly a large hand covered her mouth, and a man’s voice from behind her asked in a low voice, "Is that the Miss of the Mu Family in the makeup room?"

The makeup artist nodded vigorously.

"Is her name An Yan?"

After a moment of thought, the makeup artist nodded again.

"Don’t talk nonsense, don’t look back, just go to the banquet hall and do what you need to do, or I’ll kill you!"

The next moment, the large hand that covered her mouth withdrew, and the suffocating sensation disappeared.

The makeup artist wanted to turn around and look, but remembering the man’s words, she headed straight for the banquet hall without turning back.

The man stood there, his eyes sinisterly following the makeup artist as she left.

If she turned around, he was definitely going to kill her.

He turned and walked into the darkness, disappearing from sight.

In the center of the banquet hall was a raised platform; behind it was an LED LCD screen which was displaying the history of the Mu Corporation.

Below the stage, various media outlets that had been invited had already set up their video cameras and microphones, ready to broadcast the night’s events online immediately.

Mu Hongsheng, Xu Wanqing, and their four remarkably handsome sons ascended the platform.

Those inside the banquet hall gathered around, each holding a crystal champagne glass.

Mu Hongsheng’s ink-colored suit was crisp and immaculate. Although he was over fifty, he was vibrant and upright, appearing to be no more than forty years old.

He held a microphone and his thin lips parted, "Thank you, dear guests, for attending the Mu Family’s reunion banquet tonight. Twenty-one years ago, our biological daughter was switched by someone with malicious intent, causing us to suffer the pain of being separated from our own flesh and blood. However, we have never given up on searching, and finally, not long ago, we found our biological daughter."

As his words fell, everyone caught on to the key point.

The Mu Family’s daughter had been deliberately switched at birth—such an act was despicably evil, shameful.

They were all surprised, moved, and sighed.

Mu Hongsheng held Xu Wanqing’s trembling hand, signaling her not to get too agitated.

Xu Wanqing nodded and wiped away her tears.

He continued, "Now, I will play an audio recording for everybody, revealing the truth about my daughter being switched all those years ago."

As his words ended, a section of audio appeared on the LED screen.

It was the confession of Yang Suhua, recorded by An Yan and Mu Boyan in the hospital.

In the banquet hall, the crowd listened with bated breath to Yang Suhua’s account, feeling chills run down their spines.

Who could have imagined that the An Family, who seemed so amiable, harbored such ruthless ambitions and filthy, rotten thoughts to the core?

Xu Wanqing was hearing this audio for the first time. She felt deeply sorry for Xu Zhen’s child, who had barely come into this world to feel warmth before Du Xinlan fed it to a Tibetan mastiff.

She thought if she had known that An Yan had been fed to a Tibetan mastiff, she certainly would have gone crazy, maybe even died.

She sympathized with Xu Zhen’s ordeal but was also grateful to Xu Zhen for providing five years of maternal love to An Yan.

At least those five years of maternal love gave An Yan strength, so her feelings towards her mother were filled with admiration rather than grievances and hatred.

Xu Wanqing cried uncontrollably, and Mu Hongsheng handed the microphone to Mu Shaoci, then gently patted the woman’s back.

Mu Shaoci raised his hand to signal for silence from the audience, "Thank you, dear guests, for your cooperation. Now, please welcome our Mu Family’s little princess, Mu Anyan, to the stage."
