Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Miss Fu Shiyan, Do You Take Mr. An Yan to Be Your Lawfully Wedded Husband?
Mu Shaoze’s hand paused on the keyboard, "What did you say?"
Fu Shiyan recounted what An Yan had done with the computer tracking and how Bi Chong had relayed it, "I think it’s going to be quite difficult for you to crack this."
Mu Shaoze gritted his teeth hard, "Are you looking down on me? Am I destined to be forever second-best? I’m ambitious too, you know!"
Fu Shiyan hummed in acknowledgment, "Sometimes talent creates gaps that you just have to admit."
Mu Shaoze was left at a loss for words and said irritably, "Just go home and wait, I’ll find a way. Besides me, there’s no use turning to anyone else."
Fu Shiyan stared at the disconnected call, sighing deeply.
He looked out the window at the dimly lit street lamps, snowflakes fluttering down and warming in their glow.
But where snowscapes are romantic for two, for one, they’re lonely and bleak.
He called Bi Chong, who didn’t answer.
He thought, Bi Chong must have blocked him.
He deserved it.
Fu Shiyan started the car; the tires crunched on the snowy ground with a particularly grating noise in this snowy night.
The car stopped in the garage, and he turned off the ignition.
He looked at the passenger seat, now empty.
Once, his girl would always lean in with a giggle and say, "Ayan, carry me up."
He lifted his hand to trace the outline of the girl, then let his arm fall powerlessly.
Alone, he got out of the car and took the elevator home.
Staring at the empty living room, memories of warmth flickered before his eyes like a movie.
"Ayan, I want a fruit platter with extra mangoes, they’re so sweet."
"Ayan, you’re so good to me, warming my feet, now they’re not cold at all."
"Ayan, let’s watch a horror movie together; it’s super cool."
"Ayan, I’ll bake you a cake. You’ll taste whether the cake or I am sweeter."
...
Fu Shiyan sat on the couch, burying his face in his hands, damp with moisture.
After a long while, he walked into the dining room.
Looking at the covered dishes on the table, he lifted them one by one; each one his favorite.
He picked up his chopsticks and started eating each dish.
Even though a day and night had passed, chilled through, the flavors were still his favorite.
Since the dishes were all delicate, the portions weren’t large; he finished all six dishes.
He moved the cake to in front of him and looked at the words on top.
Ayan, I love you!
The chocolate plaque on the cake read: May you be safe and sound, always smiling happily!
She had written her name on the cake, given him the best of herself.
His eyes instantly blurred as he picked up a spoon and devoured the cake, which had a molten chocolate center, from which a small square box slid out.
He picked it up, wiped it with a napkin, removed the cling film, and opened it.
Inside was a ring and a star folded from paper.
He unfolded the star, and there was a sentence written on it.
Miss Fu Shiyan, will you marry Mr. An Yan? If you will, put on this ring.
Quite mischievous indeed.
Fu Shiyan’s eyes were rimmed with red as he took the ring out and placed it on his left ring finger, his voice husky and trembling, "I do."
He lifted his hand to wipe his face and devoured the cake in large bites because An Yan had made it personally.
Having not eaten for a day and consuming a lot of cold food in the evening, Fu Shiyan suffered from stomach cramps in the middle of the night.
When Mu Shaoze called, he was in so much pain that his brows were tightly knit together.
"I really can’t track An Yan anymore, but I managed to track Bi Chong. That kid is pretty cunning; it took a lot of effort to track him without his noticing. He has bought a ticket to New Delhi State in country S."
New Delhi State?
He remembered that An Yan had gone to rescue someone who had died miserably—someone important enough for An Yan to risk his life for.
It occurred to him, could the person from back then be Bi Zhan, who An Yan said had died of illness two years ago?
Bi Chong had also mentioned that An Yan nearly lost his life for him these past two years.
Fu Shiyan realized that An Yan had left these two years to take revenge for Bi Zhan and himself.
That was why when he had begged her to stay, she had left so decisively and had vanished without a trace.
And when she finally came back to him, he had forgotten about her.
Fu Shiyan stood up, grabbed his coat, and walked out, "I’m going to New Delhi State now."
Mu Shaoze was packing his things with the phone clamped between his ear and shoulder, "I’m coming with you."
"It could be dangerous to your life."
Mu Shaoze let out a light laugh, "There are very few people who can impress me, but I think An Yan is worth it. I’ve been wanting to meet Lone Wolf in person for a long time. This time, I will meet her as Hacker S."
Fu Shiyan chuckled softly, "Then I’ll meet you at Fu Corporation’s private airport."
"Okay." Mu Shaoze slung his backpack over his shoulder and left.
Because of the snow, all the airport staff were busy clearing it away.
After meeting up, Fu Shiyan and Mu Shaoze sat in the waiting area of the terminal.
Mu Shaoze lounged back in his seat, his long legs spread, arms crossed over his chest, "I’m really curious, what is she doing in New Delhi State? Isn’t that where wars often break out?"
He looked at Fu Shiyan, his eyebrows arching, "But you as a husband are quite irresponsible, not even knowing your own woman has left."
Fu Shiyan looked down at the ring on his ring finger, rubbing it carefully, "I am indeed irresponsible. It’s ironically funny; these two years she has been out there braving bullets for me, and I haven’t known anything."
Mu Shaoze perked up, leaning forward in curiosity, "What exactly does An Yan do?"
Fu Shiyan fell silent for a moment before his lips parted lightly, "I am Night, and she is Ink. We are both Bounty Hunters.
One night two years ago, I received a message saying that the Dark Night Organization had cornered the next leader of the Flying Eagle Organization in Tulsa town of New Delhi State and lured the Bounty Hunter Ink there.
I fell in love with Ink at first sight, or should I say, with those eyes at first sight.
I didn’t want anything to happen to her, so I hurried over.
Afterwards, we fought side by side, and I took a bullet for her. A fragment lodged in my head, and I had surgery later, but I forgot what she looked like."
Now that I think about it, why have I only forgotten her face? It must be because I was hypnotized."
Mu Shaoze clicked his tongue, "So after these two years she came back for you, and now you’ve lost her again?"
Fu Shiyan let out a soft sigh through his nose, "That’s the case. I’ve wronged her."
"But you did save her life back then," Mu Shaoze touched his nose.
Fu Shiyan remembered the night of his birthday two years ago when An Yan had given him her most precious first night, repaying him for saving her life.
With that, plus the toil of the past two years, she had more than repaid the life debt.
Fu Shiyan thought for a moment, "There’s something I want to tell you."
Mu Shaoze was quite curious, "What is it?"
