Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Give Me One More Chance
An Yan’s hand pressed against the man’s chest, and her sobs ceased abruptly.
She stood up suddenly, raised her foot, and kicked him in the side of his waist, "Just die then! The sooner you die, the sooner you’re reborn. Try harder to be a decent person in your next life."
After speaking, she wiped her tears and headed for the door.
Fu Shiyan reached out and grabbed her slender ankle, "Yanyan, don’t go. I didn’t mean to deceive you."
He scrambled up and wrapped his arms around her waist, "You see, you still have me in your heart, otherwise you wouldn’t have been so anxious seeing me lying on the ground."
An Yan was so angry she couldn’t even express it, "I just don’t want to be labeled a widow, that’s all."
Fu Shiyan turned her to face him, "It’s not like that, you love me."
"I don’t deny that I love you, but that doesn’t conflict with my not wanting you, get it?"
Fu Shiyan held her in his embrace, "Give me another chance, I absolutely won’t cross your boundaries again. No one should be sentenced to death for a single mistake. Yanyan, please."
An Yan looked at the man’s eyes, filled with red veins, and his usually handsome thin lips now bore deep lines; it pained her.
Her tone was light, "Did you put me under surveillance?"
"I just couldn’t sleep, thought of taking some sleeping pills, then I heard the door and quickly lay down on the ground." Fu Shiyan bowed his head, forehead resting against hers, "Baby, give me another chance. Watch my behavior; if it’s bad, then you can sentence me to death, okay?"
He tilted his head, wanting to kiss her, "Yanyan, I’ve missed you so much. You’ve ignored me for so long."
An Yan turned her head away, "So continue to ignore me until you are proven innocent."
Although it was difficult to watch the desired meal yet not be able to taste it, at least he could smell the scent of it.
Fu Shiyan felt as if he had come back to life.
He sat down on the couch with An Yan, pulling her into his embrace, "Let’s go on a trip. We’ve both been too tense lately."
An Yan looked down, pondering for a while, then looked at him, "I want to investigate Mu Yingying."
Fu Shiyan knew that An Yan was warning him not to interfere, or there would be no future for them.
"What do you need me to do?"
"What do you want to do?" An Yan raised an eyebrow, "Continue to help Mu Yingying against me?"
Listening to the girl’s mocking tone, Fu Shiyan felt as if a thorn had pierced his heart, but he had brought it upon himself.
He sighed, "Yanyan, I really know I was wrong. I won’t make the same mistake again."
An Yan didn’t want to continue discussing this topic, nor did she want to hear the details of their one-night stand from two years ago from his mouth.
She stood up, took off her down jacket, put on slippers, and tied up her hair, "I’ll go make breakfast. You go wash up first."
Fu Shiyan grunted and watched as the girl walked into the kitchen to get busy.
He felt that something had changed between him and An Yan, a barrier had formed.
He deserved it.
Fu Shiyan took a deep breath and stepped into the bathroom to wash up.
When he came out, An Yan had already served the vegetable pancakes and oatmeal porridge on the dining table.
Although Fu Shiyan was no longer disheveled, he still didn’t look as radiant as before.
An Yan sat opposite him, "Eat. After you’re done, you should go to the office."
Fu Shiyan’s hand holding the chopsticks paused, "What about you?"
"I’m going to find An Zaili and tell them about Mu Yingying seeking out An Yirou. I have a feeling they know something too."
Fu Shiyan nodded, "Shall I accompany you?"
"No need, I won’t keep you from your work,"
Fu Shiyan finished his vegetable pancake, took a sip of porridge, and asked what he had been wanting to, "Yanyan, are you worried I will help Mu Yingying again?"
An Yan looked at him calmly, "You have a history."
Fu Shiyan lowered his gaze, feeling uncomfortable inside.
Yet the sins one created must be borne by oneself.
He stood up, carried his plate and bowl into the kitchen, cleaned them, and came out, "Then drive safely, the roads are slippery."
"I know."
Fu Shiyan put on his cashmere coat, changed his shoes, "Then I’m off. Shall we have lunch together?"
"Sure, I’ll contact you if I finish work early."
Fu Shiyan felt a touch of disappointment as he turned and left the apartment.
After standing at the door for a long while, he finally took the elevator away.
An Yan stood still until she heard the smart voice reminder from the elevator outside, then she picked up her down jacket and stepped out the door.
She didn’t want to share an elevator with Fu Shiyan, since things had become quite awkward between them after some unpleasant incidents.
An Yan discovered that An Zaili no longer lived in the old neighborhood; they had moved to a more secluded area of the old town.
When she arrived, she saw An Zaili carrying a bag of vegetables, entering the building.
She got out of her car and followed him, keeping a discreet distance with her cap pulled low.
An Zaili suddenly stopped, casting a wary glance around before quickly ascending the stairs.
After unlocking his door, he tried to quickly close it.
An Yan blocked it and squeezed her way inside.
"You, you, you, you’re trespassing, I’m calling the police!" An Zaili shouted, "Get out!"
Du Xinlan and Yang Suhua also emerged from a room.
Du Xinlan pointed at An Yan, "You murderer, you dare to come to us, it was you who killed Yirou!"
Yang Suhua didn’t say a word but charged forward to hit An Yan.
An Yan grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her, "Don’t push me to act, I won’t indulge you."
Yang Suhua howled, "My poor granddaughter was killed by you, and now you even want to beat me to death, my life is cursed!"
An Yan, tired of her unreasonable fuss, tossed her onto the sofa, then took out a call log and a money transfer record from her bag.
"I suspect An Yirou’s death has something to do with Mu Yingying."
An Zaili frowned, "Who is Mu Yingying?"
An Yan said, "Mu Family’s younger daughter, Mu Yingying. An Yirou used to make a lot of calls to her and even transferred money to her."
Du Xinlan’s eyes shifted, "I know about this. Yirou indeed contacted this person, but it wasn’t for anything good, it seemed like she was threatening them. Yirou is dead now, she’s become the drug addict everyone talks about; I don’t want to add slander to her list of offenses."
Hearing this, An Yan felt the sentiment was in line with a mother protecting her child.
However, when it comes to An Zaili and his family, it’s quite abnormal.
Given their dire straits and unscrupulous character, their first reaction upon learning this would definitely have been to extort more money from the other party.
An Yan smiled, "Now I know. I came here today out of kindness to provide you with leads. By the way, when the police investigated An Yirou’s cause of death, they missed this clue, lucky for you I’m kind-hearted and I provided the police with this lead about Mu Yingying. If Mu Yingying turns out to be the murderer, you’ll have to thank me!"
