Chapter 167: Chapter 167 I Want to Know the Reason

Fu Shiyan hung up the phone, took a deep breath, and turned to enter the bedroom.

The person on the bed was gone, only the sound of vomiting could be heard from the bathroom.

He rushed in and saw An Yan bent over the toilet, violently sick.

He squatted next to her, gently patting her back.

An Yan felt a little better after throwing up and slowly turned her head to look at him, "It’s you, Ayan."

"Why did you drink so much? And your phone was switched off too."

An Yan’s eyes were bleary with drunkenness, she patted his face, "You want to know? Do you?"

"I do."

"Well, I’m not telling you! Hahaha!" An Yan’s stomach churned again, and she bent over the toilet to vomit once more.

After struggling for a full hour, An Yan finally finished throwing up. She leaned against the washbasin, brushing her teeth and washing her face with her eyes closed, not skipping a single step, then she went back to the bedroom and fell asleep on the big bed.

Fu Shiyan watched her with a hint of helplessness and helped her change into her pajamas.

He lay beside her and scooped her into his arms.

He had a fearful feeling, always thinking that the person in his arms might disappear one day.

An Yan slept on until the sun was high in the sky.

She rubbed her eyes but still felt a headache.

She swore to herself that she would never drink again; hangovers were truly unbearable.

"Awake?" Fu Shiyan entered the bedroom, still wearing an apron.

Seeing the man approach, An Yan instinctively wanted to dodge.

"Still feeling sick?"

An Yan closed her eyes, "I have a headache, I want to sleep a bit more."

"Yeah, sleep. You can sleep as long as you like."

"Aren’t you going to the office?"

"The company is not as important as you. I want to stay home with you."

An Yan pursed her lips, "If the company is busy, you should go. I’m fine."

Fu Shiyan sat by the bed, "Your recent state isn’t right."

"My parents’ situation is giving me a headache, so I’m not in a good state."

"Yanyan, you can talk to me if you’re unhappy."

An Yan hummed, "I know."

"I made some sour plum drink. Try it," Fu Shiyan said, ruffling her hair.

"Okay."

Fu Shiyan brought her the sour plum drink, which tasted very nice.

After An Yan finished drinking, she went back to sleep.

Come dinner time, An Yan got up, quickly freshened up, and came to the dining room.

Fu Shiyan had prepared red-braised prawns, sweet and sour ribs, and a stir-fried vegetable dish.

An Yan didn’t have much of an appetite and only took a few bites of each dish before putting down her chopsticks.

She curled up on the sofa to watch a movie.

Fu Shiyan sat next to her, drawing her into his embrace.

After a while, An Yan asked, "Has there been any progress with the police?"

"They caught the man who was living with An Yirou. He said that after they had intercourse that night, he went out to buy some drugs. When he came back, he saw lots of police cars, so he didn’t dare to go up. After all, he had been with An Yirou, so he was worried about getting implicated and has been hiding ever since."

"Are there any other clues?"

"Since the old district doesn’t have surveillance and with various people coming and going, the police suspect that An Yirou overdosed herself with drugs, leading to her death."

"So you think there’s no other reason for this?" An Yan stared into his eyes.

Fu Shiyan nodded, "There’s no evidence pointing to homicide, the police will likely close the case soon."

An Yan didn’t say anything more, just stared ahead, her gaze unfocused.

The next day, An Yan arrived at the design studio, carrying her laptop and heading straight into Su Yue’s office.

She sat down at the desk, opened her laptop, and began to investigate An Yirou’s movements over the past month.

Su Yue poured her a cup of coffee. "Drink some."

"Thank you." An Yan took a sip, but her eyes never left the screen for a moment.

The footage froze on the night Mu Yingying transferred money to An Yirou. Although someone had deleted this surveillance segment, An Yan had managed to restore it.

She saw An Yirou intercept Mu Yingying’s car, and the two drove off to the seaside together.

Su Yue was puzzled. "What’s the connection between these two?"

"I’d really like to know that too," An Yan said. "Fu Shiyan helped Mu Yingying delete the records."

"That bastard, why does he treat Mu Yingying so specially?"

"Mu Yingying is indeed an exception for him." An Yan continued to stare at the screen. "Look, this fully armed man entered the community after the man living with An Yirou left, and left after less than ten minutes."

"Aren’t there many people like him?"

"Indeed, there are quite a few, but now everyone could be a suspect," An Yan said, pursing her lips.

Su Yue pointed at the man on the screen. "Then find him!"

That was easier said than done; it was undoubtedly like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Because this person had particularly strong anti-surveillance skills, he vanished without a trace after leaving the community.

So this clue was a dead end.

An Yan narrowed her eyes. "Since Fu Shiyan helped Mu Yingying delete the records, then she’s likely connected to An Yirou’s death. I’ll check into Mu Yingying."

"Baby Yan, if Mu Yingying really has something to do with An Yirou’s death, what about you and Old Dog Fu?"

An Yan clenched her fist. "I need to know the reason."

On Christmas day, Fu Shiyan came to pick up An Yan from work.

He kissed An Yan’s cheek. "Did you miss me?"

An Yan curled her lips slightly. "Not really."

Fu Shiyan clutched his heart. "It hurts, I’m so heartbroken."

"You’re so fake," An Yan laughed and punched him lightly. "Where are we eating tonight?"

"I’m taking you to the Cloud Top Revolving Restaurant for Western food."

"Don’t tell me you’ve booked the whole place."

"No, if I had, everyone would kill me today."

They chatted and laughed as they got into the car, heading for the Cloud Top Revolving Restaurant in Jiangcheng.

The seats Fu Shiyan had reserved were by the curved floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a view of Jiangcheng’s entire nightscape, extraordinarily spectacular and magnificent.

Fu Shiyan handed her the menu. "Order whatever you want."

"Alright." An Yan focused on the menu.

Just then, a petite figure bounced over. "Younger Uncle, Young Aunt!"

An Yan looked up. "Jinqiao, did you come with Brother Mu?"

Fu Jinqiao hushed her. "Brother Mu is all wrapped up tight."

"You guys having a situation?" An Yan smirked.

"No, no. It’s just that he’s just finished shooting his film, and to thank me for my care, he took me out for dinner."

"How about we share a table with you guys?" Fu Jinqiao blinked her eyes.

Fu Shiyan flatly refused. "No."

An Yan also felt it wasn’t a good idea since they had a spectacle to witness later.

Fu Jinqiao said "okay" and left. "Then I’ll go first. Let’s go watch the fireworks at the Empire Building later together."

"Sure," An Yan said with a smile.

Watching the young girl run off, An Yan picked out a few dishes.

"Ayan, I’m going to the restroom."

"Shall I accompany you?"

"No need, you order the food. I’ll be back soon," An Yan said with a light smile, leaving her seat.

Shortly after, a woman in a white evening gown draped in pure white fur walked over.

Fu Shiyan thought An Yan had returned and instinctively looked up, then his face changed instantly.
