Chapter 106: Chapter 106 You Don’t Know How Long I Have

Fu Jinqiao had always had many admirers, but she had never had such a persistent pursuer, and that too, only a Komodo Dragon.

She had been running as fast as she could, and seeing that the massive lizard seemed no longer to be following her, she couldn’t help but lean against a large tree to rest for a while.

Thinking it over, she decided it was safer up in the tree, so she decided to climb up and rest for a while.

Sitting on a thick tree branch, her eyes reddened.

When had she ever been in such a sorry state?

In this dangerous forest, she felt quite helpless, but she knew that Younger Uncle and An Yan would definitely come to rescue her.

She wiped away her tears and looked aside. "I will definitely be rescued, right?"

After speaking, the corner of her mouth twitched as the lizard slowly approached her.

Fu Jinqiao’s breathing quivered, and the next second, as the lizard pounced, she jumped from the tree. The lizard also crashed to the ground with a thud.

Fu Jinqiao felt a dull pain in her left foot but she ignored the pain and continued running forward...

The oppressive atmosphere indicated that a heavy rain was about to start.

An Yan and Fu Shiyan were cautiously looking around while shouting Fu Jinqiao’s name.

Perhaps because the heavy rain was approaching, all the ferocious beasts had gone to take shelter; hence, the two of them encountered no attacks from wild animals on their way.

"When did you want to break up?" Fu Shiyan suddenly asked.

An Yan looked at him and suddenly sneered, "I don’t want to discuss this matter with you at this time, especially since we now have a common purpose, which is to find Jinqiao."

"I feel this doesn’t conflict."

"But it makes me sick, seriously affecting my mood." An Yan didn’t want to continue this topic and walked quickly forward.

Fu Shiyan stepped forward and grabbed her arm. "Do you like Mu Qianfan that much?"

"How can you be so despicable? Don’t you know what you did wrong? And you still have the face to question me?"

Looking at the girl’s stubborn face, he calmly said, "What did I do wrong? When Mu Qianfan’s mother was having surgery, you went to accompany him. That day, I was at home, and you told me you had just woken up. An Yan, you lied to me!"

An Yan suddenly understood why Fu Shiyan had been cold to her those days.

No, no, no, this was not a reason for him to cheat.

She licked her lips. "It was wrong of me to hide it from you because I didn’t want you to misunderstand anything between Brother Mu and me; I was afraid you would overthink it. What about you and Su Manxi? I saw everything, I heard everything, what more do you have to explain?"

"What did you see and hear?" Fu Shiyan asked, puzzled, "Explain clearly."

"Su Manxi called me to say she was discharged from the hospital and that you would visit her. She said that there was a good show for me to watch." An Yan scoffed lightly, "It truly was a show. I saw you two entangled in the room. I couldn’t believe it, as eyes may deceive, so I called you, and when you didn’t answer, I called Su Manxi. After the call connected, I heard your voice."

Fu Shiyan gritted his teeth with irritation, "So that’s why you left home angrily?"

"Home? Where do I have a home?" An Yan tried to shake off the man’s hand but he gripped it firmly.

Fu Shiyan helplessly pulled her into his embrace. "Fool, seeing is not always believing, and hearing could also be misleading!"

Feeling the girl’s body stiffen, he whispered in her ear, "That night, I indeed went. Originally, I was in a meeting; Su Manxi called me saying she had some matters regarding you to discuss in person. Suspecting her intentions, and having gathered some evidence of her misconduct, I left the meeting to confront her, hoping to resolve the matter once and for all."

An Yan looked up at him, "And then? Continue with your story."

With a sigh, Fu Shiyan said, "I talked with her in the living room; how could it have been in a bedroom? Su Manxi’s allergy and burn episode was purely self-directed. I exposed her. Yanyan, I would have to be utterly lacking in taste to fancy such a woman."

An Yan thought for a moment, "Are you saying the person in that room was not you at all?"

"I am innocent."

"What about that voice on the phone?"

"I’m not sure how it happened, but it definitely wasn’t me. Yanyan, you have to believe me, just look at the time I called you back."

An Yan took out her phone and checked it carefully, recalling that from the moment she saw the two entangled by the window to when Fu Shiyan’s call came in, only ten minutes had passed.

Fu Shiyan laughed, "Don’t you know how long I need?"

An Yan glared at him and muttered softly, "Who uses the duration of such a thing as proof of innocence?"

"If you’ve forgotten, I can remind you right now."

Listening to the man’s flirty words, An Yan punched him in the chest, "You’re not allowed to speak!"

Fu Shiyan took her hand and kissed it near his lips, "Let’s talk it out and solve it together, shall we? Think about it, I’m used to fine dining, why would I settle for lesser food?"

An Yan pursed her lips, "Alright, I’ll forgive you for now until we uncover the final truth, but you need to keep your distance from me."

"That’s not possible." Fu Shiyan wrapped his arms around her, "I’ve been missing you badly these past few days, let me kiss you."

"No, um..."

Fu Shiyan grabbed her chin and kissed her deeply, their breaths mingling in a wet, lingering kiss.

"Baby, you’ll have to make it up to me when we get back."

An Yan blushed, "Actually, I did go to the hospital that day, but I wasn’t with Brother Mu, so you don’t need to be jealous."

"You weren’t with him?"

An Yan nodded, "I wasn’t with him, just waiting at the hospital in case I was needed."

She thought to herself that this was as much as she could explain.

Fu Shiyan hugged her, "Okay, I believe you."

"Okay, let’s go find Jinqiao now before it starts to rain."

Fu Shiyan took An Yan’s hand, and they quickly walked forward.

Meanwhile, two helicopters landed on the island.

Han Yang jumped down, instructing Xu Shuo to lead Mu Qianfan and the other injured personnel to evacuate first, then he led the rescue team into the forest to begin a large-scale search.

The rain poured down, soaking Fu Jinqiao completely.

She pouted, dragging her sore left foot forward, and suddenly discovered a cave.

She wanted to take shelter from the rain but was worried about possible wild animals inside, so she picked up a stick and mustered the courage to move towards it.

Upon reaching the cave entrance, she shouted several times, "Are there any wild animals? If not, I’m coming in!"

In reality, she was very frightened, and her shouts were just to boost her courage.

She walked into the cave, trembling, and turned on her specialized outdoor flashlight. She had prepared herself mentally; she shouldn’t be surprised by anything she saw.

Fortunately, the cave was empty and dry, with a hint of fresh grass aroma.

She found a corner to sit down, tidied her messy hair and clothes, which were quick-drying, and squeezed them dry before putting them on.

She opened her backpack and started eating a bag of beef jerky.

Suddenly, rustling noises came.

Fu Jinqiao frantically shone her flashlight towards the sound, and the beef jerky fell from her mouth to the ground.
