Chapter 1849: Mysterious World - Get!
Shang Xia could more or less sense that something was wrong with the soul claiming to be Su Chi of the Heart Lamp Sect.
Otherwise, how could a True Immortal spill everything he knew so easily from a few casual threats? After all... Anyone who managed to become a True Immortal should possess resolute willpower. They wouldn’t submit so easily.
Anyway, that was perfectly in line with Shang Xia’s intentions. He welcomed the opportunity to learn more about the events surrounding the Essence Wilderness World back then, especially since that person seemed to know some of the secrets behind the fall of the Heaven Observation Sect. It was the first time Shang Xia had heard anything from beyond the Chaotic Sea of Stars.
"So, Sage Jin insisted on exploring the Nebula Forbidden Region back then because he wanted to find out where those people from beyond the Star Field went?" Shang Xia murmured to himself.
Su Chi’s voice came again from inside the jar. "After the Heaven Observation Sect was destroyed, many high-level Sages from the various Heavenly Fields followed the outsiders beyond the Star Field. The event happened so suddenly that very little information was left behind. Many Heavenly Fields even lost their rank seven inheritances. As for why those Sages left, explanations vary. The most widespread rumor in the Chaotic Sea of Stars is that they went in search of a path to the Eighth Order."
Shang Xia raised an eyebrow and grunted once before he spoke again. "So Sage Jin entered the Nebula Forbidden Region not only to find a path beyond the Star Field, but ultimately to pursue the path to the Eighth Order?"
Su Chi seemed unsure but still replied. "That should be the case! After all, I was only a True Immortal! I heard that Sage Jin had been stuck at the peak of the fifth star of the Martial Emptiness Realm for over 100 years without progress. That might’ve been part of the reason too."
By then, Shang Xia had already learned a lot from Su Chi. He glanced at the flickering flame, which looked as if a sneeze might extinguish it, and after a moment’s thought, asked, "In your current state... What do you even plan to do?”
The flame in the jar jumped, and Su Chi's voice tried to stay calm when it came again. "Since I have fallen into your hands, I naturally leave my fate to your discretion, Senior."
Of course, Shang Xia wouldn’t casually extinguish a soul that held such valuable memories of the Essence Wilderness World, especially one from a former True Immortal of the Heart Lamp Sect. The soul likely carried the sect’s core martial inheritance.
Before Sage Jin rose to prominence, the Heart Lamp Sect had been the foremost power in the Essence Wilderness World, maintaining a rank seven inheritance for generations, even possessing a Dao Field.
If Shang Xia could obtain the sect’s core teachings from Su Chi’s memories willingly, his entire venture into the Nebula Forbidden Region would be worth it.
After thinking it over, Shang Xia asked, "Would it be alright if I stored you in my spatial pouch?"
Su Chi’s voice rang out urgently from the jar. "Absolutely not! If I enter a storage space, my soul flame will extinguish immediately, and I will lose my last chance at survival."
"Hmm," Shang Xia mused, "It’s rather inconvenient to carry around a crystal jar like this."
Su Chi quickly suggested, "Senior could put away the Cloud Rune Stone Mysterious World instead, and keep me and the jar inside it!"
"Ah, now that’s a good idea," Shang Xia said with realization. "In that case, you shall remain within this Mysterious World for the time being."
As he spoke, he raised his hand and summoned starlight from seemingly nowhere. It gathered at his fingertip and ignited into a flickering Star Fire.
The moment the Star Fire appeared, Su Chi’s voice shrieked from within the crystal jar, "What is that?! Senior, let’s speak calmly, please, no! No...!"
The Star Fire did not enter the jar but instead hovered above the mouth of the jar as it burned quietly.
"Sage... You’re a Sage!”
At last, Su Chi directly felt the power of the Martial Emptiness Realm. His voice turned bitter. "I should have known... Anyone capable of entering the Nebula Forbidden Region with Jin Quan couldn’t possibly be below the Martial Emptiness Realm."
Shang Xia ignored whatever Su Chi’s soul might be thinking. He casually placed the jar atop a tombstone in the field he had entered from, then turned and walked out of the Cloud Rune Stone Mysterious World.
Upon leaving the Mysterious World, he smacked the stone chamber that held the Mysterious World. Immediately, starlight surged into the runes around it.
In the span of a few breaths, he fully refined the core of the Mysterious World.
After patting it twice more, the Cloud Rune Stone Mysterious World began to shrink, eventually reducing to a palm size piece of rock. He tied it with two thin cords and hung it from his waist.
Shang Xia scanned the space one final time, then refocused on the spatial rift indicated by the Talisman Sword Sage Jin had given him. He promptly tossed out a rank six Six Harmony Teleportation Talisman and vanished into the rift.
The next moment, Shang Xia reappeared in another fragmented void.
As soon as he emerged, he turned to look back, just in time to see the rift he had passed through begin to twist like a thread, destabilizing the surrounding fragmented space.
Seeing danger brewing, and with his weapon which was also a Heaven Supporting Jade Pillar back in the Essence Luxuriant World under the care of his Origin Star Avatar, he quickly formed hand seals and unleashed the fourth move of his Six Harmony Rod Technique, Void Seal.
The collapsing void around him was forcibly stabilized, giving Shang Xia the chance to bring out the Talisman Sword again before fleeing rapidly in the direction it pointed. He remained alert to any dangers along the way.
Not long after his departure, the spatial rift he had used collapsed entirely, triggering a chain reaction that caused the already unstable void to implode.
A massive spatial torrent erupted, surging outward with destructive force.
Fortunately, Shang Xia had already escaped its range and found a relatively stable pocket of space.
Rather than feeling relieved, his expression was far from good.
