Chapter 76: Mysteries and truth

"Ohh, sure" Mo Chou nodded at her driver’s words but she was really curious. Who was this person? The first person who came to her mind was An Daiyu. Does he/she have something to do with An Daiyu perhaps? If so, wasn’t this a little too early for An Daiyu to act up?

Whoever the person was, Mo Chou had to admit that they really had no fear, blocking someone in the middle of the road.

She curiously looked through the window at the car that was blocking hers. A bulky man exited the car and approached her driver.

"Hello, our madam would like to meet Miss Mo Chou to talk to her," the bulky guy informed her driver.

The driver looked at Mo Chou through the partition that was still open, he wanted to get her opinion first even though he would rather not let Mo Chou out of the car. The driver was trained in fighting and was not Mo Chou’s regular driver.

Since Mo Chou had told Liu Dai that she didn’t want her bodyguards to accommodate her to her friend’s house, Liu Dai had specifically appointed this driver so that he could take care of Mo Chou’s safety as well but even the driver was not sure that he could protect Mo Chou if there were a lot of people attacking all at once.

Mo Chou was aware of the driver’s thoughts, although she was really curious, she decided not to confront the ’madam’. She didn’t want her family to be concerned either as they would definitely be worried if she left the car.

"I’m sorry but tell your madam that I don’t have time to chat right now as I’m in a hurry" Mo Chou spoke in a loud voice. The guy couldn’t really see her so she answered in a loud voice instead.

Mo Chou was quite curious about what the guy or the ’madam’ would do now but to her surprise, he just nodded and said, "then our madam will contact you regarding your schedule later". Then he went back to his own car. He didn’t even hesitate and just entered the car. The car immediately drove away after he closed the door.

"Should I drive, miss?" asked the driver as he was a little at a loss. He too hadn’t expected them to just simply drive away.

"Yeah, let’s just go home," Mo Chou shrugged. What else was she supposed to do anyway? ’Do they really have my number though’?

The driver obediently drove the car, but he shortened the time to reach the Liu mansion by increasing his speed. He would only be able to fully relax when Mo Chou was at the mansion safe and sound. He didn’t want to lose his job after all.

When Mo Chou finally reached home, she was welcomed by Mo Li with a warm hug. Mo Li was her energetic self as usual and started to chatter, talking about this and that. She would ask Mo Chou how everything went but then start telling her how much she missed her without even giving her time to answer.

Mo Chou smiled and just let Mo Li talk and jump around. Soon they were joined by Liu Qiang and Liu Dai who were both home that day.

Liu Qiang asked Mo Chou if she was hungry as it was lunch time now. Mo Chou was actually not hungry at all but she couldn’t say so looking at Liu Qiang’s expectant expression. He probably wanted to have lunch with everyone together.

So she nodded and everyone went to the dining room. Mo Chou had planned on eating just a little but Liu Dai who was beside her kept adding food on her plate.

He hadn’t really said anything much, but by now Mo Chou knew that it was his way of saying that he missed her too.

Everyone was all smiles while they ate lunch together.

Lu Wei sat inside the car as she observed the car that the girl who Lu Jinhai was trying to protect was sitting in. She had gotten all the information regarding her yesterday. Lu Wei wondered what was so special about this girl Mo Chou that had caught the eyes of her cold son.

She had even heard that her son had been doing some ridiculous things like attending university and all just to spend time with this girl.

Maybe there was something that she had missed, but from what she had read, Mo Chou was not really someone worth even looking at. She had a rich family, sure but she didn’t really have much potential herself.

Although Mo Chou’s reputation seemed to have changed recently and she had started garnering a lot of attention, it couldn’t really change the fact that in her eyes, Mo Chou was just a spoiled little girl.

She was definitely not worthy of Lu Jinhai and would not even be able to survive a single day in their world. Her son had even hidden his identity from Mo Chou, wasn’t it because she would get scared and run away if she knew just who he was?

Mo Chou may not be a gold digger, but she was simply too inferior in Lu Wei’s eyes.

So she had to make sure that she stayed away from her son. Lu Jinhai would definitely not listen to her and she might not be able to do anything to him but she could definitely scare a little girl like Mo Chou easily.

Actually Lu Wei hadn’t planned on looking for Mo Chou so soon. She hadn’t even been in the country yesterday but when she had gotten the report from her spy that Lu Jinhai had ordered his subordinates to mess with her shops in order to keep her busy, she had gotten curious and flew here overnight.

Lu Wei didn’t mind that Lu Jinhai was trying to mess with her business, she just took it as him throwing a tantrum but she wanted to meet this girl who had gotten her son so enraptured.

Alas, the girl had refused to meet her but it was fine as she had plenty of time and methods to deal with her.

’Did my son warn her about me? Is that why she refused to meet me?’

"Her mother is the current madam Liu right? Send her some gifts from our skincare brand and ask her if she would like to meet me for a collaboration" ordered Lu Wei to her assistant. She wanted to meet Mo Chou’s mother who was secretly rumored to be a gold digger.

It was no fun playing around with little girls, if Mo Li was really a sly gold digger as it was said in the rumor, wouldn’t it be more fun to interact with her instead? If a gold digger could bag someone like Liu Qiang, then she would definitely be scheming. Lu Wei wanted to see what the person who raised Mo Chou was like.

’Won’t it be fun if she is really a scheming lady’?

The assistant was standing beside Lu Wei. She was a little shocked when she saw the director smiling with anticipation. It was very very rare for director Lu to look forward to something and even more rare for her to smile.

Lu Wei noticed that her assistant hadn’t hurried to follow her orders, so she scolded her, "what are you waiting for? Send the gifts immediately. I want to hear Madam Liu’s reply as soon as possible".

"Yes ma’am" the assistant replied and hurriedly went to prepare everything.

Reaper had been a little busy these few days. Before he had gotten the memories from his past life back, his only goal had been to resolve the mystery of his past. He had not been completely truthful to Mo Chou.

Actually, Reaper didn’t know if he was really an orphan. He had grown up in the assassin organisation and he knew that his father was the former top assassin of the organisation who had died. His father had been killed but no one really knew who the killer was.

But the real mystery was that nobody in the entire organisation knew who his mother was. According to everyone, Reaper’s father had just disappeared after a mission one day. Everyone had presumed that he had died during the mission, but he had unexpectedly returned with a three year old child one day.

The child was Reaper himself. Reaper’s father refused to say anything to anyone aside from the fact that Reaper was his child. Reaper didn’t really have any memories from before his stay at the assassin organisation.

He had some blurry memories but that was it. He didn’t even have many memories of his father because his father had died when he was just five years old and before he died, his father was always absent on some mission.

One of his most prominent memories and the most precious one too, was of someone, possibly his mother, singing him a lullaby while stroking his head.

He couldn’t remember her face but he could still remember the love and warmth.

Even if his mother was dead or had abandoned him, he wanted to see her, talk to her and if possible give her a hug.

After meeting Mo Chou and hearing about her family, he had started looking for his mother with renewed vigor. He had finally gotten a clue now.

One of the retired assassins, who had been friends with his father, heard that he was looking for his mother and wanted to tell him something.

Reaper was currently waiting for him to arrive at the restaurant they had agreed on. He was quite nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

’Hopefully it’s something useful’.
