Chapter 39: trouble trouble

Mo Chou got startled but all the years of training helped her calm down and hide in a second. She was a little confused as she had been super stealthy and although there were guards stationed everywhere, nobody should have been able to sense her presence. ’Am I getting rusty’?

Mo Chou hid behind a tree and watched as a guard walked towards her far left side. It was not her the guard had found but a sneaky person who was also probably trying to sneak out. The security guard stationed nearby had noticed this person as they were really not good at being stealthy.

The security guard approached this person and asked, "Who are you and why are you sneaking around?" Mo Chou could not see the person’s face as they were wearing an over-sized hoodie with the hood on but she immediately recognized the person after hearing their voice.

It was none other than An Daiyu. Seeing that she had been caught, An Daiyu quickly made an excuse and said, "I am the future daughter-in-law of this house and I was just taking a look out of boredom. Who are you to question me?"

Hearing this, the security guard got a little flustered. He knew that a guest had arrived today who was rumored to be their future mistress and he didn’t want to offend this person. "Oh so it’s Miss An, I’m sorry for disturbing you but it’s quite dark, do you want me to escort you around?"

Hearing the flattering tone of the guard, An Daiyu was pleased. She pretended to be a good person and said, " there’s no need, I’ll go rest now" and left, anyway she couldn’t sneak out today as she didn’t want to arouse suspicion after being spotted.

An Daiyu was trying to sneak out because she had developed a smoking problem after hanging out with her ’friends’ and her stash had run out. ’I’ll just buy a lot tomorrow so that I don’t have to sneak out next time, it won’t be good if I get caught’.

Of course Mo Chou didn’t know why An Daiyu was being sneaky at night but it just made her more determined to keep a proper eye on her, ’I can’t let her run around the mansion freely’.

With that thought, Mo Chou went to the wall and started climbing it. An Daiyu had already left and the security guard, out of concern for her safety, had followed her from a distance until she reached the door.

Mo Chou successfully sneaked out but had to walk to a different location in order to call for a taxi to the area near the black market.

Thinking about how she always had to take a train, bus or taxi and even walk, Mo Chou decided that she would buy a motorbike from the black market too. The only problem was that she didn’t know where to keep it as she couldn’t keep it inside her house. She thought for a while and decided that she would park it in an underground parking lot of an apartment complex near the mansion. She could just bribe the security guard of the apartment complex and was pretty confident that he would agree as it was just a matter of parking a bike.

Mo Chou had bought her untraceable card which had quite a bit of balance so she didn’t have to worry about not having enough money and since it was a black market, she could easily buy a vehicle without the need of any kind of documents.

When the taxi stopped, Mo Chou got down and paid the driver. She then walked to the black market. It was pretty lively as night time was when most people visited the black market.

Mo Chou wasn’t in a hurry and just looked around to see if there was anything interesting first. She didn’t really find anything that caught her fancy so she headed to the biggest electronics shop on the black market. There were all kinds of electronics and gadgets there. Mo Chou approached the shopkeeper and asked him to show her the best equipment for spying. The shopkeeper didn’t even blink and calmly showed her everything that was in the shop. After looking through everything, Mo Chou found everything that she was looking for. She even added a tracker in the haul so that she could access An Daiyu’s location.

After seeing that Mo Chou had brought so many expensive things, the shopkeeper finally let out a smile. The things that she had picked were all the best items of the shop too, since it was very likely that Mo Chou was a tech expert, the shopkeeper showed more enthusiasm. ’I can’t let this kind of customer who spends money like water slip into other shops’.

After the shopkeeper packed everything up, he even generously gave Mo Chou a discount and asked her patronize his shop for everything she needed in the future. Mo Chou didn’t really care as she was cautious and would not visit the black market with the same disguise twice.

It hadn’t taken much time for Mo Chou to choose and purchase everything as the products in the shop were pretty satisfactory so Mo Chou decided to visit a few other shops. She remembered the weapons shop she had visited last time and decided to go there.

Mo Chou was actually a weapon hoarder, she loved buying different kinds of knives, guns and pretty much everything. In her previous life, she had a grand collection of weapons and would clean each one meticulously in her free time.

She headed to the shop and was greeted by a shop assistant. Mo Chou just wanted to look around in peace and told the shop assistant that she didn’t need his help. The shop actually had two floors and the best and expensive weapons were on the second floor so she headed upstairs.

Since they had surveillance cameras and guards stationed outside, the shop assistant let her roam around freely.

Mo Chou walked around the blade section, which consisted of every type of blade imaginable. She looked around and decided to buy a kukri. It had a leather cover which had gems inlaid and looked beautiful. ’Not bad, I’m glad I decided to take a look’ she thought happily.

Next, she headed to the gun section. She wanted to buy a lot but stopped herself as she didn’t live alone anymore and didn’t have a space to hide them all. Still, looking at all the shiny guns, Mo Chou wanted to buy at least one.

Mo Chou looked around with ’heart eyes’. ’Ugh, I really can’t choose’. Suddenly, Mo Chou noticed a gun which was half hidden.

’Could it be what I think it is?’ Mo Chou hurriedly went down and called the shop assistant to take out the semi hidden gun.

The shop assistant followed her and took out the gun. The gun looked old and rusty, so they had just put it aside casually.

The staff working in the shop didn’t really have in-depth knowledge on guns. They just knew how to recognize some guns, they could just look at the prices in the computer anyway.

Looking at the gun which looked like it was in a bad state, the shop assistant said doubtfully, "Are you sure you want to buy this one? We have other better looking guns".

Seeing that the shop assistant had no idea about the gun, Mo Chou kept a straight face and said, "Its fine, I have a hobby of collecting rusty guns" said Mo Chou with a straight face but the truth was Mo Chou hoped that she could get a good deal on the price of the gun.

"Oh okay" said the shopkeeper thinking that Mo Chou was just a weirdo.

The truth was that the rusty looking gun was a rare antique gun which was very hard to find and was every gun enthusiast’s dream. It had just not been taken care of properly and looked like junk rather than the treasure it really was. In her previous life, Mo Chou had many rare vintage guns but had only seen this gun in pictures. Still, her eyes were sharp enough to recognise the true value of the gun.

Mo Chou asked the shop assistant to pack both the kukri she had selected earlier and the gun. The shop assistant packed the kukri first while Mo Chou paid for both the items. Just like how she wanted, the shop assistant gave her the gun at a cheap price.

Afraid that the shop assistant might damage the precious gun due to negligence, Mo Chou even took over packing the gun while the shop assistant watched speechless on the side. ’It’s already been paid for anyways, so I’ll just let him do whatever he wants’.

Mo Chou was carefully packing the gun when she heard a shout "you there, stop. I want this gun immediately".

Mo Chou "..."

"Can’t you hear me? Quickly give me this gun".

"It’s mine, I already paid for it," said Mo Chou dryly.

"It doesn’t matter, I’ll pay you double the amount" said the sleazy looking man. There were two people with him who looked like goons.

Mo Chou didn’t want to talk to him and simply walked out of the shop with her stuff. She was walking towards the exit of the black market when she noticed that the two goons from before were following her sneakily.

’... Can’t I just have one day of peace?’
